It is an academic point but I think that he would not have allowed the defence to have been as poor as it was under Martin. More of a presence than Ramsdale he is a great organiser. Peretz all day long. I think he's a better shot stopper for starters. Where he really shines is providing leadership on the pitch. Ramsdale on the other hand, signed on for the big pay day. Fucked off to warm Newcastle's bench and doesn't seem like he wants to be here for the fight to get promoted. Only to be first choice if/when we do. And, whisper it, he wasn't a big improvement over Baz in goal albeit in the Russell Martin shooting gallery side that disgraced the Premiership. 3

Great news if Peretz is secured but I think he'd have even struggled in a RM side with a defence in constant disarray in front of him. I was mostly happy with Ramsdale for us but, yeah, Peretz gets the nod for me now. 4

Is the correct answer. Pretty sure Daniel Peretz isn't going to concede a goal because he was busy saying hello to a pigeon. Edited 3 hours ago by Verbal 4
Osvaldorama Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Peretz for me too. For all the reasons above plus the added reason that he’s fucking mental and I really enjoy watching him. I love it when he sprints 60 yards out for no reason to flatten someone/ head it away 😂 Edited 10 hours ago by Osvaldorama 5 6
saintant Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Looks like this is happening which is absolutely brilliant news and boy do we need some of that. I wonder if Daniel Peretz has been given some kind of assurance that the bulk of last season's squad are going to remain because I'm not sure he'd contemplate signing without that. If so this is again brilliant news but let's wait and see. The club seems to be moving to re-engage the fan base after spygate which is totally the right thing. Feeling far more optimistic now. 2

Saint_Jonny Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Didn't think this would be possible after the way the season ended - amazing news! 4
beatlesaint Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I didn’t think we stood a chance in hell unless we went up. This is superb news……at last something good !! 2

freshen up Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago With it looking like Russ is going to Leicester, wonder if he'll want Baz, that lot seem to love buying our shit too 2 3

Maybe we can say take him on a free but we get £10million if you make it back to the Prem with him in your team?

so22saint Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago First time in a couple of weeks that I'm buzzing about Saints. He is, as others have pointed out, a proper keeper - mental, organises the back 4 and makes world class saves. Great statement of intent - fuck the EFL, lets actually win a league for a change 4
LGTL Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Fantastic news. Big statement of intent, and I wonder if it’ll have any impact on some of the others deciding their future? Here’s hoping. 2
Eire Saint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Don't think he knows what the word 'dealbreaker' means, in time I may be able to forgive him for that. Seriously though. What a signing! Unbelieveable start to the window. Massive statement of intent. Great chance of preventing a mass exodus now. Things are looking up.
Sheaf Saint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Indeed. There was a real togetherness in the team for the second half of the season and he was evidently a big part of that. If we can largely keep that team together (expect one or two departures still) then even starting on -4 I reckon we would still be among the favourites for autos, or even the title.

Might trigger a feeling among some of them of wanting to finish what the group started, being all in it together.
Lighthouse Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Fantastic signing, genuinely thought there was no chance of that happening. The cynic in me says we've pushed this through early to try and get the fans back on board and TBF it'll certainly help. Hopefully we can follow this up with Larin. 1
Convict Colony Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago The wailing wall is back. Quality and a real strong start to this window. 3
Miltonaggro Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Fucking ace. Top keeper in the division by a country mile. Best possible start in terms of our response! 1

In fairness, the term does seem to have entered common usage to mean its exact opposite in recent years. He's not alone.
Cabrone Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Fantastic signing, shows the club are up for top 2. Going to be a great season.
kitch Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago This is amazing news! Club have done really well here, I didn't expect this. My favourite keeper since prime FF.
Lee On Solent Saint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Thank fuck for that. We really needed to get him in. Will be Championship keeper of the season. Absolutely no doubt about that.
Stud mark of doom Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Given the context - this is up there with Kevin Keegan for me. Fucking amazing. 1 1

Why would you consider the club doing this as cynical? Surely it makes sound business sense. 2
Soton7 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago What a signing. Not just a top goalkeeper, but a strong personality and a leader. It was easy to jump ship but amazing how he has shown loyalty. This could be the start of something great. 2
Hopper Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Didn't think I could love this man more but the 'Fuck it, we go again!' at the end had me ready to run through a brick wall. 9

Hoping other key players are going to follow his example and stick with the club so that we can go full on at another promotion attempt. Two fingers to the wailing journos and pundits and Boro! We march on in adversity. 5

Saint Pete Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Fantastic news! So important to have a good foundation and Peretz also showed he is a good character in the dressing room in the last few months. If we can also secure new contracts for Bree and Stewart and a deal for Larin in the next few weeks, that would be a great start to the summer. 2
LiberalCommunist Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago While the rest of the football world wants us torn apart we quietly add the most important foundation block. Good work. 2
Thripp87 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago That’s an outstanding signing. Best keeper we have had since Niemi. First step towards recovery, and it’s a big one! Will be worth 10 points next season easily. 3
Osvaldorama Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago SCENES FUCKING HELL. cannot believe that. Best signing I can remember in ages. Assumed he’d go to a top half PL side 3
Dan Johnson Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago This is an absolutely massive statement from the club. Best keeper since Niemi, such a statement of intent and a real stake in the ground when it comes to next seasons expectations. Buzzing 2
beatlesaint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Are Boro fans ok with this? They’ll be booking therapy on masse, esp after the fuck up their keeper made in the final that should never have been 🤣 3

Loved the interview too and the "fuck it, we go again, we are even stronger now with this experience" - YES, get in, come on you Saints! 1
