Midfield_General Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 (edited) Gary Rowett. Most recent managerial record - sacked by Oxford United after 1 win in 10 games. He'll probably do enough to keep them up by the skin of their teeth but christ, how the mighty have fallen. Edited February 16 by Midfield_General
coalman Posted February 17 Posted February 17 He's just keeping the seat warm so Martin can join in the summer after his honeymoon. 1

Popular ex-player there so their fans will be a bit more patient, emphasis on the bit given their league position.

There's a logic to that. If you know it takes time to bed in a new philosophy, waiting until the close season makes sense. 🙂
Saint NL Posted February 19 Posted February 19 So the PL want more sanctions on Leicester? Am I reading that right? 1

Hatch Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I would give them the points back and 10 extra points if it means Pompey get relegated 1
HarvSFC Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Does it work the same way as appealing red cards? Get a stronger punishment, rather than the initial one? Just looking at the forwards they had two years ago - Vardy, Mavididi, Iheanacho, Fatawu, Daka and they still had room to bring in Tom Cannon for £7.5m. That's a lot on the books, while they also had an experienced midfield and defence also. They gambled on breaking the rules to get back up instantly, similar to how Forest gambled in the Premier League, but it hasn't worked out for Leicester.
bpsaint Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) Surprised by the audacity of Leicester, suppose they’ve not got nothing to lose though. They should have been happy with 6 points considering how high a deduction the Premier League were trying to get. Imagine they win the appeal but the Prem wins theirs too and they end up in a worse position. Edited February 19 by bpsaint

There is a scenario here where if they just accepted the 6 point deduction (that was generally thought, not least by their own fans, to be pretty lenient) they could stay up at the end of the season. But now they are appealing, they could lose the appeal, the deduction could get increased and they could get relegated as a direct consequence of not just shutting up and taking the original soft punishment. Appealing it is such a mad, high-risk, high-stakes gamble. If it was any other club I'd think that they've probably got something in their back pocket which means they are confident of winning the appeal, but with them, I think it's more likely just to be a fit of pique from their nepo baby owner who's never been stood up to by anyone in his life and simply can't handle it. Then separately, the Premier League have also now said they're not happy that the six point deduction was sufficient, and they want at least one more point taken off. So they are appealing as well. Popcorn at the ready, this is going to be interesting Edited February 19 by Midfield_General 3
franniesTache Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Personally i'm entirely behind their appeal and i think it should not just be overturned but Charlton, Blackburn and West Brom should all be given an additional six points for the mental stress this has caused. 1 2

I know they're a pretty poor squad, but think that's a very good appointment for them. Certainly has the caliber to make a difference in the relegation fight. 2 wins from 2....

kitch Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Going through a big board reshuffle, apparently. Jon Rudkin (one of the guys the fans really don't like) has been promoted... 2
