goodymatt Posted yesterday at 14:34 Posted yesterday at 14:34 Excellent away performance. Managed the game really well, disciplined off the ball and efficient with the ball. Worried that our lack of clinical edge would come back to haunt us but we kept going and got a much deserved win. Ross Stewart is class and I just hope he can stay fit for the run in, he could make all the difference. After his injury at Craven Cottage, it’s rather poignant to score our winner. Up the Saints! 😇 10
John B Posted yesterday at 14:37 Posted yesterday at 14:37 Brighton and Hove Albion 0 v 2 Southampton, 08 March 1986 FA CUP QUARTER FINAL RESULT I got married that day and forty years later to the day we win away again in the FA Cup really pleased 26
kitch Posted yesterday at 14:38 Posted yesterday at 14:38 (edited) Superb performance from everyone there. Jander and Fellows slightly off it, but not through lack of trying. Peretz, Downes, Larin and Azaz all at the top of their game there, and the fans were the only ones I could hear on the telly. Gutted I couldn't get a ticket. Got to use that as confidence booster, going to a nearly full-strength PL team, away, and coming away with a win. Excellent stuff! Edited yesterday at 14:39 by kitch 2
Midfield_General Posted yesterday at 14:40 Posted yesterday at 14:40 (edited) Tonda got that tactically spot on. Great shape, worked our nuts off, defended really well and always carried a threat so they couldn’t just camp out in our half. With better finishing we could have had a lot more. THB very good and deserved motm but having Peretz in goal makes such a massive difference. He’s never going to be perfect but he’s big, loud, brave, positive and tries to take the pressure off the defence whenever he can. You can see he has a great rapport with the defenders now and it spreads confidence throughout the side. Overall, thought we played it perfectly and thoroughly deserved the win. The support was fantastic as well, well done lads Edited yesterday at 14:40 by Midfield_General 17

VectisSaint Posted yesterday at 15:40 Posted yesterday at 15:40 Both got booked against Doncaster so both will miss 6th round. Yellows are competition specific these days. 2 yellows for teams that entered in the 3rd round means a ban. 1

LaptopSaint Posted yesterday at 15:51 Posted yesterday at 15:51 Almost the perfect away day that was. Apart from kicking off at midday on a Sunday, which should be a criminal offence, that was one of the best moments of the season so far. Hopefully more to come! 2
saintant Posted yesterday at 15:59 Posted yesterday at 15:59 Big shout out to Matsuki in the lead up to the penalty. He's in midfield when their keeper clears and he springs tremendously to head the ball forward. It reaches Stewart who moves it on to Azaz who chops inside and is caught. Doesn't happen without Matsuki winning that header. 11

The Oggmonster Posted yesterday at 16:12 Posted yesterday at 16:12 I bet the Fulham fans are absolutely buzzing with that result. They can now focus on cementing a mid-table finish in the PL. 1 8

rooney Posted yesterday at 16:30 Posted yesterday at 16:30 We used to excel with the stats but lose the game.Had the best chances today and well done to our fans who we could hear throughout the game.
Charlie Wayman Posted yesterday at 16:31 Posted yesterday at 16:31 What a magnificent defensive performance, a clean sheet against a top ten PL club is not to be sneezed at and bodes well for our future if we gain promotion. Pity our attack had the jitters today and missed several sitters, we should have been out of sight at HT. 2
saintstowin Posted yesterday at 16:33 Posted yesterday at 16:33 On the way home. Great result great support. I thought everyone played their part with special mention for the back four and GK. They had loads of the ball and we didn't panic and were on it all game. Lovely.

Jack Posted yesterday at 17:30 Posted yesterday at 17:30 Thoughts on the train home: - Larin looks 10kg overweight and like he spent last night in the pub - Bree was fucking excellent. I wasn’t bothered when he was loaned out but he’s come back and been almost perfect when we were short at RB. Really stepped up - the referee was absolutely abysmal - Larin was having his shirt ripped off him every time it went near him, gave Fulham every 50/50 and if we’re being honest the other way, the penalty was soft as shit. But I think deserved as he gave us nothing else all game - big contingent of Saints ‘yoof’ embarrassed themselves today. On the train up and in the pubs after - that said, really good noise from the away end despite a 1200 kickoff. Numbers wise not that smaller than last weekend but 5x better - Fulham don’t have much else to play for, thinking they could rotate that much against an in form Championship side and get away with it was ill judged. Deserved away win IMO 2
