Excellent away performance. Managed the game really well, disciplined off the ball and efficient with the ball. Worried that our lack of clinical edge would come back to haunt us but we kept going and got a much deserved win.

Ross Stewart is class and I just hope he can stay fit for the run in, he could make all the difference. After his injury at Craven Cottage, it’s rather poignant to score our winner. Up the Saints! 😇

Superb performance from everyone there. Jander and Fellows slightly off it, but not through lack of trying. Peretz, Downes, Larin and Azaz all at the top of their game there, and the fans were the only ones I could hear on the telly. Gutted I couldn't get a ticket.

Got to use that as confidence booster, going to a nearly full-strength PL team, away, and coming away with a win. Excellent stuff!

Tonda got that tactically spot on. Great shape, worked our nuts off, defended really well and always carried a threat so they couldn’t just camp out in our half. With better finishing we could have had a lot more.

THB very good and deserved motm but having Peretz in goal makes such a massive difference. He’s never going to be perfect but he’s big, loud, brave, positive and tries to take the pressure off the defence whenever he can. You can see he has a great rapport with the defenders now and it spreads confidence throughout the side.

Overall, thought we played it perfectly and thoroughly deserved the win.

The support was fantastic as well, well done lads

So Verbal Junior and I both got ejected from the game in the final minutes. We will live in eternal shame.

I hope it ended well

What did you do to upset the police/stewards?

This terrible result is going to screw up our season according to some of our fan base. I guess they’re not celebrating this at all.

What a stupid post

I know I'm gonna jinx things here but Port Vale still leading Sunderland going into injury time...

Let’s be honest it doesn’t matter. Liverpool, Arsenal, citeh and Chelsea will all avoid each other.

They'll already be warming their balls.

Shame Downes and Matsuki picked up yellow cards and will now miss the next match.

Next league match or FA Cup?

Posted

Both got booked against Doncaster so both will miss 6th round. Yellows are competition specific these days. 2 yellows for teams that entered in the 3rd round means a ban.

Almost the perfect away day that was. Apart from kicking off at midday on a Sunday, which should be a criminal offence, that was one of the best moments of the season so far. Hopefully more to come!

Big shout out to Matsuki in the lead up to the penalty. He's in midfield when their keeper clears and he springs tremendously to head the ball forward. It reaches Stewart who moves it on to Azaz who chops inside and is caught. Doesn't happen without Matsuki winning that header.

The Downes yellow looked like a decent challenge from where i was sat. Would be a shame for him to miss it

The booking was for the tantrum he threw at the decision, not the challenge itself.

Seemed like a fair decision to me because he was holding Reed round the neck, but I know others disagree.

If anything it looked like he was fouled. Maybe the yellow was for his reaction?

One criticism of Downes is he's way too emotional. Gets a lot of needless yellows for throwing hissy fits at the referee.

And yet in injury time Iwobi had one of ours in a headlock down in their corner and the ref gives nothing. Didn't matter in the end, but frustrating lack of consistency.

We used to excel with the stats but lose the game.Had the best chances today and well done to our fans who we could hear throughout the game.

What a magnificent defensive performance, a clean sheet against a top ten PL club is not to be sneezed at and bodes well for our future if we gain promotion. Pity our attack had the jitters today and missed several sitters, we should have been out of sight at HT.

On the way home. Great result great support. I thought everyone played their part with special mention for the back four and GK. They had loads of the ball and we didn't panic and were on it all game. Lovely.

Bring it on! No problem for me if a player wears his heart on his sleeve. 100% committment is what we want to see.

What a stupid post

Coming from the guy that said five minutes before the end of the game

’better to lose this than have extra time’

And I’m the stupid one?

stupid for not caring about EFL fixtures so we can have a go at wining something?

Fans like you don’t have a fucking clue.

Except in the next game because he's banned for doing just that... ;)

Playing Devil's Advocate, not scoring too early possibly worked in our favour today, as it meant Fulham didn't feel the need to bring on their big guns until it was too late. :)

So if we play Port Vale at home in the next round, and someone offers you a free ticket you won't bother since "we ain't winning it".

No point in a day out at Wembley for the semi

What's the point in supporting a football team if you mentally steamroller any sense of hope whatsoever?

I suppose you weren't tempted to get married as "she'll just die at some point"

I'm sure there were plenty of people saying that 50 years ago today.

Maybe just try and enjoy this run for what it is.

Thoughts on the train home:

- Larin looks 10kg overweight and like he spent last night in the pub

- Bree was fucking excellent. I wasn’t bothered when he was loaned out but he’s come back and been almost perfect when we were short at RB. Really stepped up

- the referee was absolutely abysmal - Larin was having his shirt ripped off him every time it went near him, gave Fulham every 50/50 and if we’re being honest the other way, the penalty was soft as shit. But I think deserved as he gave us nothing else all game

- big contingent of Saints ‘yoof’ embarrassed themselves today. On the train up and in the pubs after

- that said, really good noise from the away end despite a 1200 kickoff. Numbers wise not that smaller than last weekend but 5x better

- Fulham don’t have much else to play for, thinking they could rotate that much against an in form Championship side and get away with it was ill judged. Deserved away win IMO

I'm having a great day! Saints are through to the quarter finals of the FA Cup in our 50th Anniversary year. I'm just fed up with you pissing on our collective chips in your dull repetitive tediously boring and uninspired way.

Get off the web, touch some grass, have a pint and maybe you'll feel better about things
