Saints v Hull - Play Off Final - Saturday 23rd (maybe)

If the EFL thought there was any chance of us getting thrown out, the match wouldn't go ahead. Everything is risk assessed these days

However, by going ahead with the match, they have cast judgment if you think about it so the press release has to be seen as being non judgemental, hence the wording. It's all a bit smoke and mirrors really.

If the match was to be cancelled or rearranged, apart from the logistical nightmare on many levels, people will question why the EFL let the match go ahead and why they let people buy tickets, travel, hotels etc..

That's my thinking anyway

Good point. EFL must have called all involved or the committee and decided already. All they need is a TEAMs meeting for 30 mins and record for speech to text minutes and job done.

Its a deliberate ploy to stop as many Saints fans going to final if it goes a planned.

This is stupid. Myself and 2 sons all season ticket holders  - one Son away on 23rd will be around for any re arranged dates - so do I book 2 or 3 tickets ? 🤪

Cannot believe the EFL would risk a sanction that involves removing Saints from the competition - would be completely unfair and open to legal challenges. Precedence IF found guilty after looking at the full evidence would be a fine commensurate with the issue. Adding some form of points deduction, even delayed, would be disproportionate too.

My feeling is there are two key unknowns that will have a bearing on the outcome - was the lad in full employ of Saints and under instruction, and secondly, has convincing evidence been provided that any training information gained was substantive enough to gain an advantage. That’s why Saints have insisted they need to investigate ‘context’ rather than just admitting to the charge as Leeds/Bielsa did. I guess we can all speculate - the next couple of days will reveal much.

It would be messy, because if they did that it would be because they'd have evidence this is 'systemic' - which would then call into question Wrexham, Derby etc who just missed out on the playoffs. They'd then call that one of those replaces us and get a shot to go to Wembley.

There is no easy route to 'expelling' us, because it will just open an entire can of worms which would ripple the league, delay and completion and put the start of the season and competition in jeopardy. We will be allowed to compete, we will be allowed to get promoted, but I'm fairly sure they will slap us with a fine. The worst case is probably a fine and a suspended points deduction.

EFL have gone along with Boro all the way and now cant back track and say ' look Boro its not really that big an offence, Saint had no benefit and gained no leaque points directly from spy footage, so leave them in final and £500k fine' They just will look as stupid as Boro and thier manager, players and coaches.

Where is your evidence for this? Boro reported us to the EFL and they set the process in motion and have not commented until today.

I think as a neutral (Wednesday fan) it has been blown out of all proportion.  I wouldn't give a monkeys if we were spied on a training sessions.

The law was obviously brought in to avoid a repeat of Leeds action and EFL thought that was the end of any issues.   No this happens and they haven't a clue how to act.

Personally I would issue a fine and maybe add if you guys get promoted compensate Boro to the tune of £10m - £20m.

It was obvious that very little advantage of any was gained.

Fly in the ointment in all this is Gibson is best mates with Parry and Birch.  Give them a new sport instead of Wednesday bashing.

EFL have just followed process from all I can see.

Boro have just fed all their local journos, who have then fed the national journos. None of that is the EFL playing along with it.

The EFL also don't come to the decision, they have no input or influence over it, which is why the independent advisors are pulled together to come to the conclusion. The only involvement the EFL will have had up to this point is to receive the complaint, pull together evidence from both sides, and then arrange an independent panel who will review what the EFL have received from both clubs and form a judgement.

To be fair I’m not sure that would have been necessary this season

Good luck next season though, never like to see fans suffer because of owners being shitcunts.

Surprised Saints haven’t released ticket details yet given they have been given the go ahead and they originally planned to start selling them tomorrow.

Bloody hell, what was our club thinking? just play the bloody game fair and square for crying out aloud.VAR have fucked the referees up and its a crutch for them to fall back on should they have missed something so clear and obvious, now this..............Also who took the alleged photo of our so called spy?...

Ive also just bought my tickets for this game yesterday and now im lead to believe we might get kicked out, WTF Saints eh?

You know this is going to open a whole big mess for other clubs moving forward, whats not to say things arnt going so great for someone else and then they produce images to the effect of those that have been reported as facts against us?

Who sanctioned this foolish episode in our great clubs history eh?,and have we been doing it to other clubs? so many questions need to be answered and bloody sharpish too, otherwise im not sure where myself and others stand in getting refunds and such.

Why should Boro be 'compensated' for fucking up the semi finals ?

They would have had 25 shots and no goals in the first half if we didn’t spy on them

Because Boro's PR team, Sky and other clubs and supporters have now followed the thread as it were and demand Boro get compensated

What exactly is the spy supposed to have discovered that helped Saints in any way, that Luke Ayling is a c*nt?

He found out that the best way to unsettle him was by t-t-t-t-taking the piss 😁

Any truth in Boro demanding Saints give them £20m if promoted to prem. Wouldn't surprise me

If we’re guilty? Fine, I’ll take that.

No way Boro should benefit - they had their chance over 2 legs and blew it. "Spying" had nothing to do with that.

If there is a financial hit, make it a donation to CRUK or BHF.

We should burn down the Riverside stadium and all of Gibson’s business assets. Then assassinate all of the EFL committee (simultaneously for more effect) - show them we are not to be messed with

When is the public going to rebel and say they have had enough of moronic cunts like Charlie Austin voicing his opinion as if it has any credibility. Nothing more than a fucking bald gobshite shock jock

Yes just copy and pasted from the below I think, although I’m sure the original only said it when it got to members.

I hope we wear yellow. I've never liked the change of shorts to white or red when we've done that occasionally to avoid a shorts clash.

We're in our home kit. Hull are wearing orange shorts so we can wear black

I’m sorry mate but you’re up there consistently with some of the most insane posts on this forum, and that’s saying something 😂

EFL and Boro idiots, they already have decided then so just announce the verdict. How can you say to a club start selling tickets, travel accommodation then say but we may change our mind and your not in final.

I feel dirty for saying this because Ayling should've been off on Tuesday. The fact he and THB made up mid game instead of getting added to the post match shit storm speaks well of him.

He's one of those players opposition is going to hate whomever he's playing for.

Are we expecting this to sell out before Tuesday? Did the fa cup semi final sell out to members I can’t remember now?

I can buy Monday but nipper can’t buy until Tuesday because I stupidly bought all of his tickets under my name as print outs so there’s nothing under his name.

I did ask the ticket office today if they could help but they were adamant once the game has been played there’s nothing they can do (not sure I believe that but it is what it is)

Stuck between a bit of a rock and a hard place. If I wait until Tuesday and they sell out, I miss out too. But it’ll also break his little heart if I go without him 🤔

They have to add that caveat, because otherwise they could be perceived to be pre-empting the outcome of the hearing, and that would open an entirely different can of worms.

It doesn't for a second prove that they have already reached a verdict. Quite the opposite, in fact.
