If Charles wants to stay we would be crazy to push for the money. But I do not own the club.

Well given our financial situation we have to sell some players and he is one of our most saleable assets.

Genuinely not sure Charles would attract a big money move at this point. I do wonder if our asking price would be higher than clubs are willing to pay.

Hes great but still very raw. Another season with us is probably what he needs… (especially if we are pushing for promotion instead of poncing about at the bottom of the league for six months like last season).

It feels weird to be in a transfer window and wanting to keep the majority of the squad. Last few seasons I’ve wanted to get rid of so many.

Hasn’t he just signed for a team in Saudi?

Depends how long he has on his contract though, I thought it was only 12 months but perhaps there’s a an extra year’s option? If he isn’t signing a new one then it become obvious to cash as an asset.

And this is what the player thoughts seems to be, but if the club ‘need’ to cash in I’m sure they will push for it. Very odd situation as we are always lead to believe it is the player that wants out. Ok they may do in the majority, but it would seem not in some like this. I still have good faith that he will start the season with Saints… then will and push the panic buy button in the top 6 of the premier ‘traditional top 6’.

I'm sure that will go smoothly. The Krasnodar president is renowned for his calm head during these kinds of transfer negotiations.

The echo previously said there was an extra year option, no clue if the club actually got round to activating it though.

He's contracted to the end of 26-27.

Funnily enough, whatever option we have isn't entirely down to Saints "actually getting round to it". Obviously a wee bit more complicated than that.

The most likely scenario is we cash in this summer.

I guess there probably is a contract to be written with a kind of reverse relegation clause in it - if we don’t go up he goes, if we do go up we pay him £xxxxx.

But probably the most likely departure of the summer.

Dragan is really stepping up. Like seriously. Bit between his teeth. £££. Players will be happy.

I’m sure the fact he went through Man City’s academy means selling him will be better for the profit rules than selling Jander or someone else for the exact same fee. I’m not 100% sure as it’s complicated, but I think selling someone who came through an English academy does benefit the profitability more than a foreign one.

Therefore it might be the case that selling 2 English players, would be the same as selling 3 foreign ones as far as PSR is concerned .

Bonuses offered to keep the squad together?

Leo, Caspar, Shea and Taylor all staying?

Love it - we all need to push as hard as we can this year and embrace the "fuck it, we'll do it again and do it harder" mentality, as shown by Peretz in his video.

I'm very much looking forward to this season (on that note, I'm ready to renew, let's do it please Saints)

The famous ending (4:10 onwards) to this song feels apt this season ...

I thought the benefit of an academy product was solely if from your own academy. Where any sale figure is treated as 100% profit.

In the case of Charles, we spent c£10 (was it?)on him . Doesn’t that have to be factored into the calculation? The downside is that presumably there is a further sum payable to Man City as well to eat into our profit.

It may be a lower or different % or multiplier (or whatever it might be called) is allowed against domestic academy purchases, but in truth I don’t know.

Charles is planning to be with us next season, according to the Belfast Tely. Looking forward to being back for preseason. He's not going anywhere unless we decide to sell and I doubt we will unless it's for big money. Hope he stays.

Amazing to hear. That sounds to me like a couple of unexpected players staying. I can't see Jander staying if I'm honest. In that scenario I hope we keep THB and possibly Charles and Scienza.

Krasnodar will no doubt make a statement next Friday.

Won’t be worth much after the inhumane slaughter will he ?

Suspect you’re right, but Jander is one of the key remaining players I’d like to retain. He and Downes worked well at the end of season, better than Charles and Downes.

But with rumours of him being homesick at one stage last season there seems an inevitability that he might look to leave.

More we keep the better (of the key players that is).
