Summer Transfer Window 2026

Im liking everything Dragon is saying right now. I just hope he backs his words up with action. His biggest mistake was originally thinking he could trust others at the beginning of his tenure. Now we are seeing the real character of the man, and its great. 

I take this latest bit of info as we will sell THB (for the right price, 40m+?) and Charles (similar). Edozie too (10-15m maybe). 

We will likely keep Jander and Scienza, Azaz and Fellows. 

I expect a new CB but Im curious as to whether Quashie can develop into a decent player, I think he has some great attributes. Him, Wood, Jack and a new one is likely more than good enough. 

A number 10 and a striker and all looks good. This might actually be a relatively quiet summer 😂

I would be a bit worried about the forward / striker position unless the new striker we sign is very good and a guaranteed starter. 

I am not convinced Archer will score a lot of goals on our team unless we change the way we play,

And at 31 Larin is bit too old to play 90 mins week in week out.  That's partly why rotating him with Steward got the best out of them both.  

Even if we manage to keep Stewart I would still want a new No. 9 to give us real depth at centre forward - another physical presence.

I am expecting us to sell and replace Archer and Edozie if I am honest.

Really encouraging from Dragan in those interviews.  He clearly feels that the most effective way to respond to the recent crisis is to do all he can to keep the manager and team that only lost to Manchester City together.  You would assume that even the recent additions he mentions have been / will be sounded out and given a financial boost / guarantee to retain their full focus into next season. 

If we lose the likes of Harwood Bellis and Charles (premium domestic players) I am confident they will be replaced with solid starters, similarly it also seems likely that we will add strength in squad depth via the fees from the likes of Ramsdale, Bazunu, BBD etc.  Then we have the loan market (no limit in Championship and five in any matchday squad), potentially for players above our current league status - and Spors aced this in the January window last season with transformative acquisitions.  

Currently optimistic, but will be more so once we have Saints media releasing reassurance pieces from likes of Scienza and Jander.

I agree that it's encouraging to hear Dragan taking a much closer interest in the club at squad level... Just one word of warning though... when he got this involved last year, he promised us that getting a striker in was one of his priorities, and we ended up with Damion Downs...

Perhaps unfair to judge him on displays under Still as it was such a disorganised rabble. 

If Bree has signed a new deal as mentioned above, that allows us to really look at the right back position and consider whether we could upgrade on Roeslev. I thought he looked really average in every way. If the right replacement is available, perhaps a young prospect, I'd look to offload him and Sugawara.

Not a chance. There seemed to be very little interest last summer and he did nothing to change anyones minds. I would guess the only difference now might be that we can allow him to leave for less money as one more year has gone from his contact. I'm out on Edozie. If he has a great season I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong, but what I saw in the Boro game at SMS made me totally lose what little faith I had in him. I wonder if Tonda has his doubts about him too.

THB and Charles are an inevitability based on contract durations and the comments above. It's Jander and Scienza who are the interesting ones, I believe Jander goes and we hold on to Leo.

I do wonder if the "give us one more year" thing plays out with players like Jander and Leo. If we go up then happy days, if not and the right offer comes in thanks very much off you go.

Doubt it. If someone in the top flight wants you now, you can't afford to miss that opportunity. Why wait a year and take the chance that we miss out and maybe the offer is no longer there next summer? The difference in money is usually massive...the prestige... etc.

I've made my peace with it. As long as we get top dollar -and we've been pretty good at that-the THB , Charles and Jander can go. Maybe even Scienza too  but I hope not

I hope Scienza stays but if you look at his career history, he has not tended to stay at clubs for very long

Given how much Tonda has improved Manning defensively, could he do the same with sugawara? Always thought there was a player there but found himself in a failing team low on confidence and went to pieces , for me has the potential to be a much more dynamic player than roeslev as 2nd choice right back

True and I have thought about that. I might be clutching at straws but while he looks premier league class to me, I wonder if teams in the division above might consider that he does need his minutes managing and he tends to only do about 60 minutes per match. As an impact sub rather than starter in the PL, that could impact his value and make it less certain that he departs this summer (particularly in light of Solak's comments this week).

I always thought he looked decent but I seem to remember the thinking was Tonda likes 3 tallish players in a back 4 hence why breezys return allowed the return to the back 4 and Jelert probably doesn't fit Eckerts system

I get what you're saying but I suspect the club might agree to say goodbye and get the funds in, sounds like he did alright in Germany this season and on the back of some action in the World Cup he might want to put his experience in Southampton behind him by moving on.

I'm not sure he is proper premier league class myself. I think he got found out a little bit towards the end of the season. He's a great player at this level but I don't think premier league sides will be queuing up to sign him.

I’d be open to selling Charles for  decent money .I know he was a bit unfortunate with injury at start of season but he never really cemented his position after returning .. we seemed better with jander and downes so would it really be that much of a loss .

likewise THB wt that price would be tempting we have only really seen him do well at championship level .. wasn’t even that great at start of last season and only really played well when the whole team was playing well . At championship level both are probably replaceable and leaving a good chunk of money

I don't often write here what I'm thinking, but what a load of *****. Plus the article is illustrated by a random lower level football ground; don't even think it is Eastleigh, which would at least have a local connection. I doubt Palmeiras have much money anyway, and wouldn't even pay him as much as we are.

I'll be curious what the replacement plan is when he goes. Would it bank the money to fill the hole and restock the depth with potential and Quarshie expected to play a bigger role or go out and spend big.

I reckon we’ll keep Jander and Leo for another season.  THB and Charles will leave for decent money.

I would think Spors has their replacements lined up already.  Hopefully more Casper and Leo than Damian Downs.

Yes, but although I'm sure he watches all our games and can assess our players on the pitch it's not his job to have widespread knowledge of all the different leagues: that's the professionals' task. Reminds of Rupert Lowe asking about Tommy Forecast and being told he was &*^% and the staff member explaining it was his job to know. Lowe still thinks he knows better, the objectionable man.
