Big money for Stoke - around the same as their total outlay the past couple of seasons. They've also signed a couple of other players for fees, so either expecting some big departures (do they have anyone worth a lot?) or the new financial regulations are helping them a bit.

Yeah, I saw some of his flashes of ability. A glimpse into what he perhaps might do. But always in inconsequential games. When someone else has done the hard yards and got us into a winning position. But when you really need a break out player against a good team, he would be absolutely invisible.

Again, I'm hoping we get the really determined to succeed version this coming season, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think this is overly harsh.

Finishing was awful but he kept possession and stretched play and did get decent crosses in. A goal or two and a bit of confidence he’ll be very good for this level.

Scienza especially second half of the season was anonymous for periods as well.

He’s a good player but not what Saints need at the moment so good luck to him at Stoke. Coates Bet365 empire worth a bit so new regs probably a factor.

Don't think he played in the game up there. I was impressed with the lad who scored their goal ,  Stamenic.

He ran the game and we only got our goals after he was taken off.

Doesn't really matter with SCR, the owners can only put in a certain amount over X amount of years. What benefits the most to clubs is additional revenue, so St Mary's being used for concerts and events helps along with the Dell bar and Level 1.

Any idea what the club earn from concerts, and the other add ons ?

Pleased not to read any THB news to date or links to other CB’s.

I personally think he’s going to be our most important player this season as he’s a natural leader for the rest of the team.

I'd love him to stay but feel it's very likely he will be off. Ramsdale, THB and Charles fills the £60m+ hole we reportedly need to fill.

Keep him and I'd agree will be a huge player for our promotion push round 2.

In the unlikely but welcome event that THB stays, he needs to be made skipper.  Think that this would replicate the 'Steve Williams effect' on his game / development (for those old enough to remember).

Don’t forget the instalment payment from Everton for Tyler, plus WHU’s payment from Fernandez and any sell on of 15%.
Personally I think only Charles needs to be sold with Ramsdale.

Where the hell are a team like stoke getting 10 million from?

Think the owners (Coates) also own Bet365 and were potentially the richest owners in the league.  Not sure how that fits in with whatever financial regs we have this week though.

Wondered the same. Talking to a Stoke fan last season and joking about the £8m they were going to pay for Bazunu. The comment was that he assured me they wouldn’t be giving us that for Bazunu adding Stoke wouldn’t have tgat to  spend in total !

Was reported as 15% sell on clause at the time of his transfer to West Ham.

Unsure if that was profit or total, but that could be nearly £13m or £7m depending on the clause, still very good for us.

Spurs are suddenly paying silly money on wages too. Will be contenders next season I think. Sadly.

I believe we got 42m total plus 15% sell on clause....so off a 43m profit West Ham have made we'll get aprox 6.5m cut.

Use some of this to try and keep THB ?

A nice bonus/ pay increase.

In another report I saw this morning it suggested he was leaning towards Man Utd.

Article suggested Man Utd would look to offer WHU a couple of players in exchange. That might bugger up the calculation of our %

THB isn’t going to want to loiter around for another season of Championship football no matter what we pay him, which is already likely to be top dollar at this level. We will also need to make money from sales and £6.5m isn’t going to make a lot of difference to that.

Whilst I agree with much of this, 6.5 million isn't to be sniffed at and actually is a pretty substantial amount. With a possible 25 for Charles and maybe 3 for bbd we are doing pretty well. Sell Ramsdale for maybe 10 million and Sugawara and we will be close to 40. THB will obviously go though.

He might not have much of a choice if MUFC walk away.

Feels ludicrously high but gets us a few quid so who cares

Pays for Daniel Peretz though and a little bit of Larin. Goalkeeper urgently needed sorting out so that’s a welcome bonus for Saints.

Peretz fee covered basically, Charles, BBD, Sugawara, Ramsdale if there’s a buyer, Aribo and McCarthy hefty wages gone, Sugawara.

THB probably does go but quite a bit of any fee can be re-invested, ditto if there are silly bids for Jandar or Leo.

I didn’t say it wasn’t useful and it will certainly give us a bit more freedom when it comes to signing replacements for the players we do sell. My point is it’s not going to change the fact that there will be a couple of big sales, THB likely being one of them.

Had no idea he was so young still, honestly thought he was mid to late twenties.

Saints will get £8m 15% of profit? £85m that's a lot even fof a young player. Saints will havd enough dosh from all these sales to by 6 players if they scout properly.

Don't think it's that obvious. By the end of last season, he was turning in to a very good player, but he's by no means the finished article. Another season with us and we get promoted with him as captain, and his stock will be worth considerable more.

He has played four full seasons in the Championship, been promoted twice, one in the PL and has played for England. He has proven everything he’s going to at this level, his stock won’t be worth any more a year from now, even if we win the league with 110 points.

I reckon it is. The quotes from Dragan were clearly referring to THB and Adam Blackmore has essentially said he's off.

£85m for Fernandes...madness. But thanks for the money Spurs.

I’d rather wham didn’t get all that cash. Not sure how Fernandes has more than doubled his value after another relegation season……!?

Not quite it’s £6.45 which is 15% of the 43m profit West Ham made on him

Agree. His stock would only rise if he had a good season in the PL. That's the thing that is missing from his CV as he was found out last time IMO.

it's certainly a big old rise but to be fair, he has played well for two seasons in a row and scored some bloody good goals for West Ham and that attracts the big bucks.

🚨 Southampton were offered the chance to re-sign Dom Ballard in January this year, but opted against doing so — the club hold a sell-on clause worth up to 22% #saintsfc @AlfieHouseEcho

Surprised to see he has only scored 8 league goals in his whole career.

I think quality wise he’s more than ready, personally he’s the one player I’m dreading losing, his leadership, his defending, his attitude, even his vision when it comes to passing, will be impossible to replace at this level. I can remember a handful of defence cutting passes he made last season that opened teams up and resulted in goals. He’s our most important player in my eyes.

however, I do wonder if a bid will materialise that matches the market value we’d let him go for. Personally id value him at £30m+. He’d be moving to a lower premier league team, I’d suspected Brighton might be his best option but they’re going another route.

maybe Bournemouth as they’ve lost a CB, Leeds also? Not sure they’d pay the kind of money we’d want and whether they’d feel a championship defender currently unproven in the prem would be worth that risk.

You have to think as we paid £20m for hi, we must have hoped for more than a 20m profit….

Would they have taken Downs in exchange?!
