I actually don't see him going.  Think he's got a bit of a point to prove, knows he'll do well under TE, doesn't quite want the upheaval, knows he's got time on his side and believes in himself and will get a move that'll suit him at some point.

Would be interesting to see what his father-in-law thinks cause that'll have a large say in it and I doubt RK will sugar-coat anything.

He's got absolutely nothing to prove in the Championship.

I don’t think he’ll leave, unless a substantial offer that the club can’t refuse comes in.

They’ll be some on socials and on here that are probably creaming at the idea of him going on deadline day just so they’ll have something to moan about.

But this summer feels different, it’s us as a club against the world, with a point to prove, and I think we will.

We will win the league this season.

Saw that Michael Antonio is trying to come back. That would be more in the line of a striker we’d like over archer.

We would need to provide a player shuttle service, of course, between him and Damion.

0 fucking chance he goes to portugal and if he does Turkish will delete his account.

Been a Mod here for a while. Survived a few transfers and currygate.

Turkish not deleting his account.

Off to Watford isn't he?

BBD back to Derby makes sense.

Surprised they haven't signed him already after a decent loan last season, but the Saudi buy out probably got in the way.

Already signed. I was thinking the same. City will raise some monies easy this season and next with all their home grown youth players.

Ah the old "unsettle the player because we won't pay what you want" tactic. Pay up or piss off Benfica. £17 million is laughable. Double it. 😁

🚨 Chelsea have received interest from Benfica and at least one other Premier League club in Tosin Adarabioyo.

The 28-year-old has less than two years left on his contract and is increasingly likely to leave Chelsea permanently.

Tosin is open to exploring other opportunities, with a reunion with former Fulham boss Marco Silva understood to appeal.

Hopefully THB is just their alternative to Tosin and they sign Tosin and piss off.

According to Blackmore THB is happy here.

Players are happy until they aren't. Being denied the opportunity to play at a bigger club and earn more can quickly change a players frame of mind.

Benfica must know we'd want more than we paid for him. The price feels too rich. Are they paying £30m or whatever for a defender from our second tier?

If the Benfica link is genuine, it may be Silva that has suggested him, which probably means he's on Fulhams radar too. Do they need a cb?

Id be tempted to go for Noah Eile from Bristol City. Thought he looked good last season.

Or Benfica are using THB to try and put pressure on Tosin/Chelsea? Out of those two players, Tosin makes much more sense as he was a good player for Silva at Fulham.

Surprised we haven’t had a few links to midfielders so far. Be interested to see if we go for a signing or another loan to fill the spot left by Charles

Much more the type of player I thought we'd go for this summer. Target man that can hold up the ball and has a decent goalscoring record. Suggests Mubama was likely not our first choice.

He most likely wants to play in the Premier League and right now he's at one of the promotion favourites. He's only 24 and still learning the game, another season at this level will do him good. I still think he stays but if we're not in the top two conversation in January he'll likely go IMO.

But...money talks, as ever. Sports Republic would sell their Granny if someone bid enough.

Think this will be the case for a few - Scienza, Jander and probably THB.

Jander aside, I can't see anyone paying the money we'd want to get them.

Not many 'championship' centre backs go for that kind of money, so seems a reasonable number. I guess it depends on how you saw his PL season as to whether you consider him a PL player. Personally, I thought he struggled as much as the others, but not easy to assess when the team as a whole defends so poorly

He was terrible, and to be honest, until about February of this year i’d have driven him to wherever would have him. But since the unbeaten run he’s been unbelievable, and now feels integral to any success we might have this season. Funny how quickly it can change.

He's probably the best if not one of the best CBs in the Championship (TransferMrkt has his valuation at least as second behind only Todibo), England capped, only 24, ball playing and he has 2 years of his contract remaining. I suspect if anyone were to sign him this window it would be for a very significant sum. A quick look on TransferMrkt shows the top record sale for a CB was Nathan Ake for around £40 million to City from Bournemouth, but after that it's Ben Godfrey for around £24 million to Everton.

We were enquiring with other clubs about the availability of strikers and being offered strikers before we knew Mubama was available again for seasons loan.

Unless you are a top top club its very rare that you do land your first choice.

THB certainly wasn’t suited to the 5 ATB fad beloved of Martin and Juric. I can understand why, unless it’s very detailed tactically beforehand on how is picking up who. A bit a problem to say the least, especially under Russell.

Benfica would be a big step down, potentially career ending, if his career aim is premier league.  I can see him going there when he hits 30, but right now he should want to stay in the mix, so EFL, prem, bundesliga are all viable, but Portugal? Nah.

yeah, moving to Sporting Lisbon (from championship club Coventry) was a terrible move for Gyokeres

The trouble at this time of the season is everyone is looking for a bit of transfer news and all the idiots out there that do absolutely nothing all day but sit in their bedrooms wanking themselves stupid just make up random shit with absolutely no substance to it. Then all it takes is someone desperate for news to take random shit as "it's happening" and post it on here and everyone starts getting panicky!

Just stay of X and if you can't do that then just keep saying to yourself "everything thing on this cesspit site is made up bollocks"

Plenty of reasons that he didn't do particularly well in the prem, a couple there that you mentioned. Also us being truly hopeless, not having any strikers and no out ball, week as piss in midfield etc etc etc. Personally I think you could always see he's got talent in the prem, hence why he ended up in the Eng squad, but we were so poor that season, he didnt stand a chance from the start.s

I agree with you, but Benfica ain’t going to pay what Dragan wants, not even close. Empty vessels make a lot of noise. Porto were more sensible buying Bednarek, good for their league and in their price range. Historically enormous club, they came over for Nick Holmes’s testimonial in 1986/7 I think it was, but like Old Firm struggling to adjust to current realities in the screwed up world of football 2026 where Bournemouth, Fulham, Ipswich or Brentford represent a more attractive destination for players and agents eager for their cut.

Tonda confirming in today's pre match press conference that we're definitely looking to replace Charles (from the transfer market, not from within)

From my understanding he wasn't available earlier. Man City wanted him on their pre-season tour due to a number of reasons. 1) they had a lot of players reporting later due to world cup & 2) they wanted to take a look at Mubama and decide whether to sell outright or if they saw potential to just to loan (hence i don't believe we have any kind of buy option)

Man City wanted him to have a step up from Stoke and other clubs were interested who they were and whether we were the "biggest" club in for him i don't know.

How happy are you with your squad? Do you envisage bringing in many more?
TE: No, not a lot. I think it's quite similar to when we talked in January. I prefer the squad to be rather smaller than bigger. Everyone that we sign just needs to be spot on. I prefer to do less but make them the right ones. There are a couple of boys from the academy who have shown that they are ready to knock on the door, then we'll see a little bit where we are in the last week of the window to make the final decisions. In general, I don't expect that we need to do a lot more. But I still think that there are players coming in.

Shea Charles has completed his move to Fulham. Do you plan to replace him?
TE: Yes.

So you're in the market for a replacement now?
TE: Yes.

on THB being linked to Benfica and his previous comments having a lot of praise for his conduct...
TE: And that's exactly the same, he was exactly the same in training today.

on whether he's worried about the possibility of THB leaving...
TE: I think every transfer window brings you those moments. It's not just Taylor, I think there were a few players who performed on a very high level last year and it's normal that this attracts some interest. Also over the next weeks it's normal that there will be some names popping up every now and then but what I can say is I see the boys, they're focused. We've had a good meeting this morning prepping for the game, I've seen the training session and they look sharp and ready to go.

on Divin Mubama...
TE: The first time I saw him went a little bit further back to when I came into the job for the Under-21s. I saw the last games prior to me coming in and I saw the games between our 21s and City. I watched that and he was a very clear number nine. Someone who knows how to score goals and very ambitious. I think he already has some good experience on the senior level, I think that he played a good game here at St Mary's last season as well. Very good impressions. We did some finishing yesterday and today, obviously stronger with his left foot but can finish left and right. We've had a longer meeting with him yesterday just to go through teammates to get a quick understanding of who he has around himself and he has prepared himself before he came in here. He knew most of the players and their preferences. He is very eager to learn and a player that I think we will enjoy this season.

on whether Mubama will be used like for like as Larin/Stewart were last season or whether he might go back into the market for another forward player...
TE: Let's see. I think that Cyle is a lot further physically than he was when he came here in January. Even now he looks good. He played 30 minutes in the cup and he's ready to play some more. I think we'll see a little bit how that develops physically. But I think they can be a very good combination, obviously different age profiles so I think it's more father and son than two players of the same age but the nice thing about Cyle is that he doesn't see another nine coming in as a rival but as somebody that he can help to develop. I think that's a very nice trait for him to have with Divin coming into the building.
