Agree. Whilst Muamba looks quite a handful for defences, both strong and quick - and potential - you wonder if we’ve left ourselves a little ‘short’ in this position with his height and perhaps relative inexperience.

The Serbian bloke featured here is a lot closer to the Ross replacement in his profile. Wonder if it was a bid to buy, or loan with option.

Looks like our interest was probably from what he’s shown earlier in his career rather than the few months at Lazio.

Probably the last thing THB will do, is move to what is essentially a relegation certainty. Which is Hull and Coventry out of the running unless they offer him silly money. He can stay with saints, have a good season at the top of the championship and know he'll either be up to the premier with saints and/or be in a very commanding position for a move (due to his contract term).

if a club like Everton or Villa come in for THB this summer he will be off - but I'd hope we wouldn't lose him to a Coventry or Hull.  But money talks and I thought it was said we needed to raise about £50M this summer.

if we are definitely looking for an attacking midfielder and possibly a striker, and bearing in mind our existing squad, our youngsters, and the expectation we will be at a higher level next season, I can’t see either player being ‘one for the future’. We need championship impact players who we can get thirty minutes, maybe less, out of.

Therefore, older, experienced fading stars would be ideal, either on loan or a one year deal with a massive bonus option. So, likely to be British. Actually, JWP fits that bill, not that I want him back.

I dunno and I'm in two minds on the profile for the midfielder.  I can see the logic in going for someone a bit more experienced but then they're probably more likely to want to start than not (plus will probably be on relatively high wages that dictate they should be a starter), so who do you drop?  Downes?  Jander?  If you go down the route of more inexperienced but with potential then they might be a bit more open to rotation and also keeps that conveyor belt ticking over.
Will be interesting to see who we do bring in and the club have had plenty of time to prepare so you'd imagine they know who they want.

Arsenal have offered Villa £40m for Konsa, and Villa holding out for £60m. Interesting that we are expecting £30-35m for Taylor. Wouldn’t seem unrealistic to me.
