Ali Dia wasn’t “signed” was he - he was at the club on trial and then because of an injury crisis (squads were much smaller then - only two subs) somehow found himself on the bench and then on the pitch.

iirc he almost scored - although he was clearly not good enough to get a contract.

So business left to do is presumably

Exit Ramsdale and replace

Exit Sugawara and/or Roerslev - 1 replacement if we exit both

Replace THB if he goes (hopefully not)

Replace Edozie if he goes (hopefully so)

Exit Archer and Downs, replace with one if we manage to exit both

Would leave us imo with a strong and balanced squad on paper - as good as almost anything else in the league.

Then it’s just the simple matter of getting the tactics, mentality and performances right. And the players being as good in the pitch as they are on paper.

Right now I’m fairly optimistic for the season, though strangely not about this afternoon

Agreed, although I would replace Archer if he goes regardless of whether Downs goes or not.

Very surprised there is no interest in ramsdale. I reckon we will have to loan him and subsidise part of his wages.

There doesn't seem to be a market for him domestically. He might have to go abroad somewhere.

He's not rated in this country. Has huge holes in his game around concentration and positioning that teams just won't lean into.

Good chance he could be off by Tuesday

Shame there is a good player in there

At least if PL teams are interested, then we should get a good price.

We only signed him a year ago, and he's clearly favoured by Tonda, so they'll have to cough up top dollar if they want him.

We haven't replaced Charles yet.

Was told by members of his family in the West Mids

Nothing imminent but there is interest Ipswich was closest there's a few he knows there and not 💯 settled on south coast.

Been hanging out with Grealish over the summer

It would be a shame but if there's a decent offer I wouldn't be against a sale. Hardworking player but it just doesn't seem to be happening for him here.

He's got 3 years on his deal so any of those clubs would need to be forking out far more than he's actually worth. Feels unlikely this close to the deadline.

To be honest, I’m not sure Tonda does rate him. He’s been dropped a few times and gets subbed fairly early pretty often. Personally think Tonda wants the wide players to be more inside forwards and cutting in rather than going wide.

I'd definitely be looking to shift him on , particularly whilst we could still get a decent fee for him.

Zero goals from one of your attackers in a side aiming for promotion is simply unacceptable.

5 assists is nowhere near enough.

I enjoy watching him play and he puts in decent crosses but we really need more goals from the right side of our attack if we're serious about promotion.

Tyler Dibbs on loan would you take?

Yeah, depends what the finances were like but if you can get him back to the form he showed at the start of the prem season then he’s one of the best players in the division.

Not sure he'd fit. With Larin up top we need wingers that can go outside and cross as well as cut in and take a shot, Dibling can only cut I .

He usually starts or finishes most games though. The way I see it, when he's named on the bench it's so he can be used as a fresh-legged impact sub to run at tired defenders in the second half, rather than a sign of Tonda not rating him.

It amazes me how, in the era of 5 subs being allowed, so many people are still hung up on the idea of a 'best eleven'. it's a squad game now and certain players (especially attackers) being left on the bench doesn't mean they've been 'dropped'.

Fair criticism and doubt he’ll ever score many goals but I like him as a player, just wish he’d play more like a winger. The thing that annoys me the most is when we bring on Larin or Stewart but then immediately sub off Fellows.

Using that logic then Tonda clearly rates any of the players in the squad. Against Watford when we looking to get back in the game he brought on Edozie ahead of Fellows and when questioned about it didn’t really come out with an answer.

All just guess work and I hope he stays but wouldn’t surprise me if he did leave.

No Ross Stewart today for Swansea. We may have dodged a bullet there

Funny, I noticed that and was just about to post that. He was on the bench their last game, didn't come on though. I wonder if they did that so that it looked like he was okay and keep the fans quiet and now he is back to the treatment room for a few weeks.

Not missing him though.

Thanks for that

I wouldn't be against letting fellows move on, he's hardly pulled up any trees since being here.

As long as the money was reinvested of course

Mental if we get Premier League money for Fellows. Would be mad not to take that.

Indeed - his contract means we would only need to sell for money at Shea Charles levels. But it would be insane for any club to pay that, surely.

Where's your evidence for making these sorts of accusations. I've never read anything negative about his performances and recall we were all thrilled to bits when he was signed.
