Stud mark of doom Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Ali Dia wasn’t “signed” was he - he was at the club on trial and then because of an injury crisis (squads were much smaller then - only two subs) somehow found himself on the bench and then on the pitch. iirc he almost scored - although he was clearly not good enough to get a contract.
Oisin Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago So business left to do is presumably Exit Ramsdale and replace Exit Sugawara and/or Roerslev - 1 replacement if we exit both Replace THB if he goes (hopefully not) Replace Edozie if he goes (hopefully so) Exit Archer and Downs, replace with one if we manage to exit both Would leave us imo with a strong and balanced squad on paper - as good as almost anything else in the league. Then it’s just the simple matter of getting the tactics, mentality and performances right. And the players being as good in the pitch as they are on paper. Right now I’m fairly optimistic for the season, though strangely not about this afternoon 2
Sir Ralph Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Very surprised there is no interest in ramsdale. I reckon we will have to loan him and subsidise part of his wages. 2

CB Fry Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He's got 3 years on his deal so any of those clubs would need to be forking out far more than he's actually worth. Feels unlikely this close to the deadline. 3 1

To be honest, I’m not sure Tonda does rate him. He’s been dropped a few times and gets subbed fairly early pretty often. Personally think Tonda wants the wide players to be more inside forwards and cutting in rather than going wide.
bangkoksaint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago No Ross Stewart today for Swansea. We may have dodged a bullet there 1

I'd definitely be looking to shift him on , particularly whilst we could still get a decent fee for him. Zero goals from one of your attackers in a side aiming for promotion is simply unacceptable. 5 assists is nowhere near enough. I enjoy watching him play and he puts in decent crosses but we really need more goals from the right side of our attack if we're serious about promotion. 2
Saint_clark Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago So if THB doesn't go are we looking set? Him right CB, Schlotterbeck at left CB? I'd prefer a better backup than Stephens but that isn't going to happen.

Not sure he'd fit. With Larin up top we need wingers that can go outside and cross as well as cut in and take a shot, Dibling can only cut I .

He usually starts or finishes most games though. The way I see it, when he's named on the bench it's so he can be used as a fresh-legged impact sub to run at tired defenders in the second half, rather than a sign of Tonda not rating him. It amazes me how, in the era of 5 subs being allowed, so many people are still hung up on the idea of a 'best eleven'. it's a squad game now and certain players (especially attackers) being left on the bench doesn't mean they've been 'dropped'. Fair criticism and doubt he’ll ever score many goals but I like him as a player, just wish he’d play more like a winger. The thing that annoys me the most is when we bring on Larin or Stewart but then immediately sub off Fellows. 2

Using that logic then Tonda clearly rates any of the players in the squad. Against Watford when we looking to get back in the game he brought on Edozie ahead of Fellows and when questioned about it didn’t really come out with an answer. All just guess work and I hope he stays but wouldn’t surprise me if he did leave. 2

SNSUN Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Strengthen this team further and it will take teams a hell of a lot to stop us. 1
sockeye Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Our offence is fantastic; when we get going we really steamroll teams that can't cope with us. But there will be times this isn't possible and so our current defensive frailties will expose us. We need a top-class THB replacement and another strong CM. Bragg is insufficient. Only then do i think we are really in the running for autos

I'd be surprised if we signed another to bloat a squad that the manager wants trimmed! 2
Pilchards Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We are looking to sign a target man to switch with Larin. If he gets injured then we have no hold up players in the squad. Also another CB if THB goes. And finally a nippy winger that can play both flanks if Edozie leaves which is imminent. 2
ally_uk Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I'd like to see a stronger option for midfield, proper destroyer type with height and strength. Loan out Bragg. Replacement centre back when Bellis goes. And a targetman to rotate with Larin 1

If we had Downes, Ward-Prowse, Jander plus a new midfielder. Which of those four would be content not even being on the bench? We can do that with Bragg, but those first three should all be either starting or coming on during a game, as would any new midifelder. Plus we have Azaz and Matsuki as 5th and 6th options if desperate. 2
