John Boy Saint Posted yesterday at 00:02 Posted yesterday at 00:02 On my Holibobs in Spain - barman said “hope it doesn’t go to extra time” as I ordered my drinks before kick off. I told him at full time you had to open your mouth. 🤣 Half time of extra time “Barman 14 portions of chips please” (for those of us left) - “you know where the kitchen is - chips are in the freezer”. he did add that he was glad there was no Argentinian or Swiss on the campsite. Bacon and Eggs and the Archers after a lay in - Come on England! 4

sadoldgit Posted yesterday at 00:07 Posted yesterday at 00:07 (edited) Just how good has Bellingham been for us in this WC? How good was it to see Haaland go off? Two players should not have started. One because he was not fit. The other because he isn’t good enough. Fair play for the changes at half time. Edited yesterday at 00:20 by sadoldgit 1

sadoldgit Posted yesterday at 00:40 Posted yesterday at 00:40 We are so reliant on Bellingham and Kane. We really need others to step up if we want to win this thing. 1
die Mannyschaft Posted yesterday at 00:58 Posted yesterday at 00:58 17 minutes ago, sadoldgit said: We are so reliant on Bellingham and Kane. We really need others to step up if we want to win this thing. Very average team. But you need a bit of luck and England have lots of that. 1
die Mannyschaft Posted yesterday at 01:02 Posted yesterday at 01:02 Not sure what tge defenders were doing today. Too much ball watching, not tackling enough first half, some terrible positioning. I would play a slightly higher line. Its seams the more crowded England box is the confused defenders are in deciding what to do. Could of had a few more goals but at least kept going, just leaving it late.
Saint Fan CaM Posted yesterday at 01:04 Posted yesterday at 01:04 I can see why Eze didn’t start the game - his defensive game is quite poor and looked like he hadn’t woken up to the fact that we were in WC QF when he came on. Bellingham obviously the star of the show, but big shout out to Dan Burns who once again lent his stature to a shaky English defence. Not the best England performance but Norway pressed well and limited us. Despite what TT says, the players were clearly attempting to conserve energy early on and in the end we looked the stronger team. Not only that but we had two French officials that conspired to let a number of Norways fouls go unpunished and of course denied us a 60-40 pen decision.
qwertyell Posted yesterday at 01:46 Posted yesterday at 01:46 England's last five major tournaments: World Cup semi finals, Euros runner up, World Cup quarter finals, Euros runner up, World Cup semi finals*. Must be the best run of form we've ever had, and yet I can't really remember us playing well at any point. Funny old game. 2
HarvSFC Posted yesterday at 02:09 Posted yesterday at 02:09 I personally think we're owed a World Cup victory after the shambles at the end of last season.
Saint Pete Posted yesterday at 03:07 Posted yesterday at 03:07 (edited) Argentina taken to extra time by 10 man Switzerland. I'm sure they will scrape through but they are very average and were lucky to get this far due to Egypt's implosion in the last 16. Every chance for England to make the final if we turn up on Wednesday night. Edited yesterday at 03:10 by Saint Pete 2
Maggie May Posted yesterday at 03:46 Posted yesterday at 03:46 Eliot Anderson was the best player on the pitch IMO. 2

benjii Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Hopefully last night hasn't taken too much out of Anderson, Kane and Bellingham. Atlanta will be circa 30 degrees and humid too. It will be an interesting selection for Wednesday. Does Saka still need his minutes controlled? Is Rice fit enough? Is anyone too tired? Spence or O'Reilly? Right back? Put a man on Messi? James and Anderson in the CM? I'd probably go with: Konsa Guehi Stones O'Reilly James Anderson Rogers Bell Gordon Kane But if Rice is fully fit, he comes in for Stones and James moves to RB. Super subs, Spence, Rice and Saka to come on and win it later.
ChristopheVAFC Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Hello friends. Congratulations on the victory over the Norwegians! On to the semi-final! Please, for France's sake, beat that Argentina team! I would be grateful! Have a great Sunday! 3
Toadhall Saint Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Real dilemma- not watched any games so far but decided I’d watch last night. We go one nil down so superstitious me turns the tv off. Now I think I might not watch the semi final live as I’ll fucking jinx things (I’ll pause it for 5 mins and watch it like that). I really should stop being so superstitious! 😂
AlexLaw76 Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago (edited) Thought the performance overall was pretty poor, but then it was very hot - I agree with the manager saying he needs much more. Norway looked neat and tidy and have some good players, although Haaland did feck all. Anderson is a rolls royce of a player, Bellingham has arrived at the world class level. Rice was well off it. Madueke is just shit and Kane was garbage (a glimpse of his age catching up with him). Thought Spence looked good when he came on (and it was a bought penalty that was rightly ruled out). Thankfully Argentina went to extra time also. They are beatable but seemingly have the referees on side (Bollox, I know), but going to be a step up again. Edited 21 hours ago by AlexLaw76 2
Sheaf Saint Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Just watched the highlights of Argentina v Switzerland. Looks like the Argies didn't really create anything after going 1-0 up, and can be thankful for the red card otherwise the Swiss might well have beaten them. 2
Sheaf Saint Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Just trying to think - when was the last time we played Argentina at a WC? Was it when Becks scored the penalty conceded by Poch in the group stages in 2002?

saintant Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Lots saying England have played poorly so far and I agree but has any team been particularly good. France have decent individual players as do Spain but neither country has been outstanding. Argentina have Messi and that's about all. England are hard to beat. May not be quite enough to win the thing but no country relishes facing us. 3

And don’t forget 1966, which helped set the tone of the relationship between the teams.Alf Ramsey describing them as “animals” I think we played them in a ‘friendly’ 1976 or 77, two players sent off after one of them smacked Trevor Cherry (one of those sent off) in the mouth. saintant Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Norway, your team took a hell of a beating and you can shove your rowing song where the sun don't shine! 1
Saint NL Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Poor performance but got the job done. I couldn't understand the formation in the second half, the players changed so many times with each substitution. If Tuchel just admitted that the Eze sub was wrong and took him off then things would have been much more straightforward imo. That controversy about the overhead camera cable is a joke, the snicko thing shows no contact but the conspiracy theorists are out in force 🤣

If anything it is a free kick to them. Ok, agree to disagree. All I saw was Spence move his leg to get it in front of Bobb who then collided with it so clear foul. Is there a rule that states one player can't place his leg in front of another? I get that Spence probably played for it but what in the rules says he is not allowed to do that? He refused to leave the pitch after being dismissed, saying he did not understand German referee Rudolf Kreitlein, who did not speak Spanish. On his way off, Rattin crumpled an England corner flag and sat on a red carpet reserved for Queen Elizabeth II in protest against the decision. "When I got to the corner, I twisted the English flag and insulted them. Then I went over to the carpet the Queen used to enter the stadium and sat there for about five minutes. It was a very nice red carpet," Rattin said years later.” Im sure any silence attempt will be met with a suitable response from the England fans.
