suewhistle Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago We probably need a separate thread on freezing your bits off at football matches. I've been cold but nothing memorable in terms of remembering a specific game. Mind you, I've probably been unrecognisable with all the hats, scarves, ski gear padding, winter boots and possibly those little exothermic hand warmers. Clapping would have sounded a bit muffled too.. Not sure what I feel about today, though the ideal scenario would be a late winning free kick by JWP. I didn't think those things happened to Saints, but then Le Tissier popped up with that fantasy script in the last game at The Dell, so there's always a little hope. 4
bpsaint Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Cold at a football game? Home to Sheffield United in 2006, lost 0-1, think it was near Christmas. I’m still thawing out to this day. 1

Lankshear most probably wanted to be the main striker though was always going to be a hard sell saying he could share duties with Larin. Time for Mubama to step up. If he doesn't, we'll be in the market to get another striker in January, but in the meantime, we have a lot of games against teams at the top of this league. Looks like we're in for a soaking today. Is that front section under cover?
macca155 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Packed train up to London, 4 carriages just doesn't cut it. I'm totally expecting a WHU win today. Bowen is way too good for this league, and neither of our full backs are particularly good at stopping raiders on the wings. No disgrace in that, and hopefully Saints can even the score at StMarys. However, equally Saints have their own stars in midfield. Jander, JWP, and Azus, are all EPL standard players, so it will be a tight game. West Ham are duty bound to attack Saints, that will open the game up, and Saints can be lethal on the break. The rain will make things a bit of a lottery as well. Game on 5

die Mannyschaft Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago On coach just picked up at Winchester and cutting across to Basingstoke as M3 shut. Torrential rain and 40mph wind at 4pm means it won't be a skilled passing game. Lob the keeper and shoot on site today. 2
Disco Stu Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I think we'll get tonked today. We haven't played all that well since the international break and things will only get tougher with two key players likely out.

Chances are it will be a tight defeat or draw, but come on Saints won't suddenly turn to shit because they're playing a decent side. If anything that tends to galvanised them.

Tauro Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Can't help but think we are going to get pumped. Avoided this one today as I the last 3 times i've been we were 3 down at half time (I think). Left at half time on all occasions.

Think we had a decent turnout that night but is was on a big open terrace back then so a bit exposed to the elements. Just had a Google and it was 21st December 1979 and saw this... I loved that game, one of my first aways, good fun afterwards with police Alsatians hanging off coats and horses charging us for no apparent reason. Wild times. Channon scored the winner if I remember correctly. 1
Dr Who? Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago On our way down from Carlisle on the M1 junction 15. Set off 07:45 with only the wife predicting a win for Saints. Why are we doing this again? 2

Obviously Bowen is far too good for this league so anyone we put out there will struggle, but not sure there is much between Welington and Manning tbh If Manning and Leo display their partnership Bowen will be starved and no need not to play Manning.

Saint NL Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Just back home after watching my son's match in the pissing rain and swirling wind. Soaked through to my underpants and my son is miserable because they lost 4-0. So let's have something to remind us why we love football because right now I'm a little fed up with it 1

Toussaint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago 2 minutes ago, captainchris said: Dobin…. Picked on his price tag rather than anything else… He looked OK at Norwich, hopefully he won’t be expected to be a direct replacement for Larin. Maybe one of a pair with Azaz?
Sheaf Saint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The fact that Mubama still isn't trusted to start up top when Larin is unavailable speaks volumes. I hope Tonda has been working on an alternative setup this week to get the best out of the front 4, because Dobbin can't play the same role that Larin does. 6
sfc4prem Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Lewis Barn-door Dobbin. Let's hope he has his contact lenses in today. 1

CB Fry Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Even without Larin there are goals in that side. We got this. 3
StrangelyBrown Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago So far Dobbin might not have hit the ground running, but you can see he has something. No suprise he's picked above Mubama who looks out of his depth - I'd rather see Princewill Whateverhisnameis from the U21s 3
hypochondriac Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Probably the best we have available. Amazing that Jander can start and means hopefully we won't miss Downes too much. I would have liked to see Princewell on the bench but I suppose you have to give Mubama a chance in this game or you might as well cancel the loan.

Britannia Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago No Larin, no Downes and away. Forgive me for my pessimism. At least Jander is back.
saint michael Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago A real test without Larin. We are going to be under real test with their attackers and unless Dobbin suddenly steps up our lack of attack and ability to hold the ball up. Can see elements of the Alamo for long periods today. Hope it’s not a repeat of the cup match when they brought on their first team 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
AlexLaw76 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago we will get comfortably beaten here....the manager clear is not having Mubama. 2 1

LiberalCommunist Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I'd rather hit this fixture without Larin & Downes than drag them through it at 50% tilt. High energy, chase everything, force mistakes and don't miss sitters. We are going..... to not win, but lets make it fun. 2
