Pompey Takeover Saga

Fitzhugh Fella

Sometimes I almost feel sorry for the residents of Portsea Island. There club is in total disarray - one week gone since CVA day, another £150k of deferred wages has accrued, and not a single player is any nearer leaving. Three weeks to total extinction and the last six stories in the Skate Pravda are

Varney backs Pompey pulling power - soon to be ex-player talks up their ability to bring top players to the club

Pompey training plan wins support - ex player explains why playing in the park with jumpers for goals is excellent news

Appleton to put faith in young trio - three young players with a half-dozen games between them are going to lead the club back to the promised land

Appleton won’t dismiss loan return for West Brom duo - two Prem players return Appy's texts, so might come back to the club

Birch opens Football League talks - don't worry, we can start signing up Prem players on loan

The Pompey legends moulding stars of tomorrow - four ex-players with zero coaching experience are somehow going to produce the next AOC in the above park

It is totally bizarre, like something out of Soviet Russia. A total ignoral of the real events. No wonder those simple fish-fondling folk still don't see the catastrophe that is heading their way.

Jamie Ashdown believes Pompey will benefit from bringing their training base back to the city. (nice spin, Jamie).

The Blues look likely to leave their Eastleigh training ground and are on the look out for a new set-up.

And Ashdown reckons it will be a positive move to ensure their new home is back in Portsmouth.

Trevor Birch has admitted Pompey are looking at their options, with the Eastleigh lease weighing heavily on them.

The Blues’ former base at HMS Collingwood and a site on Portsea Island have been mooted as possible options moving forward.

They will have to do something about that fence as well as looks like its designed to keep people out rather than in.

anyone else smiling at the wonderful comment at the bottom. No need even to reply to a gem like that:

If Pompey move back to Portsmouth, Southampton will be losing the only quality football available in their area.

But alternatively it increases the average league position by two divisions (currently...could be many more if justice prevails) WTFILN?

Once again just shows how deluded they are and believe their own hype - It really is the most embarrising club in the league

Hardyman said: ‘We are going to do specific coaching in the coming season.

‘Andy Awford, Alan McLoughlin, Guy Whittingham, Mark Kelly and me taking the kids –

you cannot have any better set up than that anywhere in the country.

"this season will see the introduction of specialised coaching, with each taking sessions based on their respective positions."

This is new? Plus no mention of a goalkeeping coach. My Italian ladies side - in the league one up from the bottom of the pyramid here - has a soddin' specialised goalkeeper coach! It's toe-curling reading those articles...

Who were their coaches last season?

I'm gonna guess that it was those four clowns for the whole season, and what exactly did they produce - apart from AOC of course ;)

According to 'Appy, they've done so well with the yoof that they've managed to create 8(?) new professionals for the club who aren't even good enough to get into the first team in League 1.

you cannot have any better set up than that anywhere in the country - absofeckinglutely! FPMSFL

As of Friday they had sold less than 3500 season tickets.

Can't wait to read how the News try and put a positive spin on that! Probably something like 'plucky supporters spend their season ticket money on trust shares' or something similar.

just came across this little gem from a pompey programme.

Urgent, keep us afloat

It is so warming as we come to the end of this ill-fated season, to see such a good response to our fund-raising appeal.

You can see the next three months amount to the most critical fund-raising time in the club's history.

Vitally, we also need helpers to do a few hours a week for us as a labour of love to carry out the ideas.

Indeed the wages of all of our efforts will be that our ship stays afloat.

Take this very seriously.

For our cause has never been greater.

In the same programme the pompey manager says our youngsters breaking through promises much for the future.

He also thanks the fans - At that time we had not won a home game, were right in the basement, but the faithful army was there each time and stuck with us to the bitter end.

Little has been learned in the 36 years since this was written on 17.4.76.

The plucky bestest attendances were mainly in single figures that season, the stadium was falling down, they were relegated to the third tier as their main rivals made headlines, and the club was insolvent.

And they didn't know then that we were about to ruin their relegation a little more by winning the cup a fortnight later!

You can either learn from the mistakes of history or continue repeating them until someone liquidates you.

Much as I enjoyed 76 I would feel a bit disheartened if we hadn't progressed as a club since.

IF they start the new season they will be rolling back the years - pretty much back to where they were in 1976.

And they were wrong back then, the chances of the ship sinking are far greater now.

bit late wonder who agreed to give them credit after the first cva

Somebody from KE was quoted on here some time ago saying they weren't that stupid. It's been pay up in advance for some time according to that.

You forgot the Statue that proves they're awesome, plus the move back to Skatesmouth for their training which proves how incredible their club is.

From the latest article on the News bemoaning about lack of players, this comment stood out to me:-

‘We go to Spain on July 16 and might have five or six senior players in the building – the rest of the squad would have to be made up of youth-team players.'

So what? Hard cheese.

This is what bugs me most to be honest, throughout the two administrations and financial uncertainty, they have spouted this "woe is us, and our few players crap"

Fact is, if they use their youth team they will have enough players come the start of the season. Get on with it.

Also, why are they going to Spain to play a friendly? Play a local Hampshire based side. Not rocket science.

Club 24 should have been liquidated a long time ago. Club 24 are not offloading their high earners (why sign them in the first place) Trevor Birch does not want liquidation on his CV that is why all the spin and bullsh*t keeps pouring from the caravan park down that way.

Well it is 21 days now to go :scared: and unless a massive fire sale happens they are toast. Smegging fantastic.

I beleive if any players were going it would have happened by now therefore Trev is spending money he shouldn't be spending and i also think it is correct to punish this club. -10 points was not a punishment for £130,000,000 of debt wiped away (or £200,000,000 or whatever it is) It is a scandless, the amounts we talk about.

THE PLAYERS ARE GOING FU**ING NOWHERE TREV..........FOR F**K SAKE. It has become a joke, really it has and now you are taking the p*ss out of all the other clubs that are run prudently.

On a different theme, M.Appleton is a complete tw*t. He is getting on my nerves now with the sh*te that comes out of his mouth.

Rant over for now. ;)

God bless Thai ladyboys :poundit:

Is anyone else not even slightly impressed how they are still in existence?

I've seen turds that only flushed after the third attempt so I have to doff my cap to them.

Don’t worry, its coming.

Imagine a ship sinking in the middle of the Atlantic…

In a storm.

Without enough lifeboats.

What you are expecting is a captain, on the bridge, standing to attention and going down with his ship as the orchestra play God save the Queen.

What is happening at Pompey is that the captain, having clubbed passengers over the back of the head and climbed over their bodies in an attempt to get out is now fighting the women and children for the last place on the final life raft.

Either way he is going to drown in the ocean, however this way he is doing so without any semblance of dignity and has lost all sympathy and respect.

In addition, as well as being able to vote via Facebook, the Fratton faithful can also send their choice direct to the club, who will then pass on the results.

Now will the club give the true answer or will do what it wants,

If the statue is such a bad idea (as that article implies) why was it ever included as an option in the first place?

And, as MLG has pointed out before, how is giving out free tickets to school children (one assumes for seats that would have gone unsold in the first place) going to cost £30,000? So, the Football League give the club £30k, the club hand out £30ks worth of tickets, and the £30k ends up in the club's bank account. No?

Carlsberg don't do pulling wool over the Football League authority's eyes, but if they did...

Start a facebook page where people can vote if they think the true answer will be given by that club.

Im sure you have missed plenty, but its the start of the week so its ok. It certainly is a mouth watering list nonetheless, Shalala.

Just commonsense surely? Only an idiot would buy a Pompey season ticket given the uncertainties they face.

JOHN_WESTWOOD_280x3_937722a.jpg

No problem there, TCWTB, the pride of pompey, has not put a penny into their cesspit since the 1998 administration. He bought a season ticket for life, along with many others (approx 300?) and continues to be a drain on the club to this day... not forgetting the essential revenue the club forgoes each and every year.

So it would be great to get him a statue sorted out!

So the options are:

1) Free tickets: No cost to club, pocket 30k

2) Statue: Start long consultation process on design, pocket 30k while waiting

3) Disabled facilities: Start long consultation/tender process, pocket 30k while waiting.

"Trevor, we've been told by the FL that we can't use that £30k prize money to subsidise the season tickets"

"Oh, OK then. Use it to subsidise the school kids tickets instead"

"Right oh, boss"

@pn_neil_allen: Barnsley target Marko Futacs been told by Appleton he will not be offered a better #Pompey deal. Take it or leave it. http://t.co/k96hmW0C

He said: ‘I am not sure where we stand with Marko.

‘At the end of the day, the contract is there and I will have no problem with him coming back.

‘Even though it is reduced, in League One the offer is a very good one.

How in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord are they able to offer a "very good new contract for League One" in the first place?
