Pompey predictions.

hate to say it but no matter what their situation, all of their players are better than ours. Furthermore, you hasve ot give cre3dit, they do seem, under Grant to have found great unity and they will use this to beat us well on saturday. It pains me to say it but Dindane will give Jaidi the run around. Hammond is no match for Michael Brown either.

3-0 Pompey

2-1 to saints. it written in the stars. Lambert to put us ahead and Dean Hammond to get a scrappy second in the last 10 mins. pompey will pull one back to make it nervy but this could be the best moment in our history. ever

Saints will be 1-0 going into the last 10s of injury time. Kelivn will pick the ball up and hoof it into his own net, knowing they wont be around for a replay and we will get a by (or should that be a 'bye bye') anyway.

Yeah yeah they have places they can exploit us, but there are places we can exploit as well;

Lallana will run rings around Finnan.

Lambert and Waigo will p*ss all over Ben Haim and Wilson.

Antonio will leave Hreiderrson miles behind.

We NEED to attack in this game, because defence is where they are so, so weak.

I think the 'nothing to lose' factor comes into this game. Southampton are on a high at the moment, having just reached one cup final, which means they can play more freely. Although Pompey will be up for it, they have just about everything to lose. They are expected to win, and even if there is 'unity' amongst their players, they will also be tight and tense.

My heart says 2-1 Saints, but my head says 1-2, but we may squeek a draw.

I totally, totally agree with you and I honestly believe we can do them by a good score.... providing we GET at these players...

4-5-1 and it's game over. We really need to stick all the tricky, unpredictable, speedy players we've got on the pitch and run rings round their cumbersome back four - which we can do.

If AP goes 451, we'll need to unf()ck ourselves pretty quick or they'll just take the game to us and win.

Can't find the Fred but we have to play Gwen Stefani's 'What you waiting for?' tune before the game. Tick tock tick tock. The lyrics tie in well with their situation also; but I fear it will be too subtle for 99.9% of them.

I was all up for a bit of Tom Petty 'free falling' and 'Jumper' from Third Eye Blind too. :)

At least 3-1 to Saints. Praps 3-0 or 4-1.

An early goal for Saints. The crowd will be right up for it. They are so low on confidence that they will be there for the taking. As long as we don't sit back we can annihilate them.

The odds tell you the story. You can get 13/8 on a team playing a team 2 leagues below them. Surely everyone in the land would lump on them at that price? Best you can get on poor lowly Saints is 2/1 (most bookies are lower than this at around 7/4 - one even has it as 6/4 both of us!).

The 'Saints 6 day treble' has parts 1 & 2 safely complete (Superbowl & Wembley). No reason whatsoever for part 3 to fail. For those going - sing a song for me!

If it goes to a replay, the police wouldn't allow a mid week game at Fartton would they?

I have gut feeling we will win this though.

i dont know mate. wud guess they wudnt really have a decision in the matter?! also wasnt millwall west ham earlier this year midweek?

If we score first we are in with a chance - especially if the crowd are really giving it some. If they score first I dont see us turning it around - head says Pompey win (but couldn't really give a shyte because we are going to Wembley anyway). ;)

I predict I will be teeing off at the Belfry at 1210 come Saturday, with a Pompey lad!

It's already been rearranged once after the snow. I tried to tell him we weren't playing well and fully expected us to thump them. He said 'We're not rearranging' in the manner of a wounded beast, fearful of the ribbing I would dish out when we beat them.

I think at best we'll get a draw but fear his delight when we walk into the 19th and see what's up on screen.

Being Pompey he'll go on about it not realising how ridiculous he seems given their league position and ours.

If we win, I'll shake his hand and sit back with not much to say, smug in the knowledge that my silence will be even more of a ribbing than taking the **** all night.

I hope it's the latter.

Spot on, pains me to say it but they have about 8 internationals, we have no more than five who would make a premiership squad, and none that would start regularly in a premiership side.

Some fans need to remember we are a third tier side packed with players to get us out of this division. We are aiming for the Premiership but I doubt many of our current squad will still be here when we get there.

Having said that, funny things happen in the cup, and I live in hope!!!

Man United had 11 internationals and lost to Leeds at Old Trafford.

All it takes is one or two moments and we will have won the game.

What does that make Hammond comparitavely? They are similar players Brown is better at his job simply.

Hacing said that, it would be a perfect time for Morgan to break his Saitns duck and win us the game with an Oakley'esque goal from midfield. Barring that why not one of the local boys like James or Lallana.

Hate to be negative/realsitic. Come 12:30 saturday the belief will be back and heart will rule head etc etc

never watch those dirty skates , but thought id watch them last night on football first v sunderland , their defence is awfull , they cant defend a cross from the wing and centre of midfield they looked very weak with jones running riot in their midfield , , but they do look good down the right and Dindane looks exceptional , very quick feet and movement off the ball which will cause our static defence problems unless we man mark him out the game , wouldnt know who could do this job successfull , maybe Woots , but he is their danger man , take him out the game and we got a chance , they looked very average in their play , but they didnt give up for 90 mins and looked very fit . If he gets space in and around our area we will lose , if we can control him we can nick 1 the other end maybe a set piece , llanna gets fould just out side area , Lambert puts 1 in top corner without James moving , going to be close whatever the result .

COME ON YOU REDS

I will be very pleasantly surprised if we beat them, exstatic if being truthful.

Based purely on recent performances by us, we will struggle against them.

Last nights performance against a really poor side did nothing to instil confidence of getting a result against them.

Sincerely hope i'm wrong.

The only prediction that I will make is that SMS will be rocking on Saturday!

The head says that we're unlikely to win, but truthfully - Pompey may be a premier league side, but they are a very poor premier league side with rock-bottom morale. They are there for the taking.

As others have said, we just need to attack them and we have a good chance. And try to ensure Dindane doesn't get too much of the ball, because he is a bloody good player.

I think the Ramones' classic 'I don't wanna go down to the basement' would probably be too subtle for most of them. It would also be pretty fitting though.

I am trully bricking it for this game. I fear we will get done 4-0 or 5-1. Just can't imagine something so great as beating the skates when we are 2 divisions below them. It can't happen, things like that never happen to us..........will they??

the gulf will not be that big, trust me - there will be little gulf visible on the day, the fa cup magic and the fact that it's a derby will put pay to that.

Look, as someone else eluded to above - we pushed Birmingham to the end when we had a significantly weaker team - and they're miles better than portsmouth.

IMO set pieces will be the key for us if we're going to score. As mentioned above, their defense is sh!t, and if we can get Hammond, Lambert, Thomas and Jaidi in the box and put in a decent ball, we'll have a good chance of at least getting a few shots on target. And of course we have the direct free-kicks from Lambert. When he hits them sweetly there's not a keeper in the world who can keep them out.
