Norwich sign Leroy Fer from Twente. Another excellent signing from them.

Well I guess we'll see if the amount of signings Norwich and Sunderland and to a lesser extent Swansea are makjng work. Several posters here, particularly last season, seem to think signing loads of players, any players, would work.

Personally I'm not convinced that Norwich's policy is going to work - I have a feeling people might be surprised how they do, and I don't mean that in a positive sense either.

Same with Saints I suppose - signing on a superstar forward, who could also be a new type of personality type and attitude, might actually be a big mistake.

Time will tell...

He'll still end up there IMO.

He's said in an interview he didn't want to go to Norwich because their style of play doesn't suit him very well. He wants to be involved in the build-up whereas I suppose Norwich will have a more direct & counterattacking style. It does mean that we would have a good chance if we were interested. Our style of play isn't that different from Ajax so he wouldn't have to adapt too much.

From what I see of Norwich they are strengthening what was essentially a weak spine, the players they have picked seem to be good types. It wouldnt surprise me at all if they ended up mid table.

I think what you're also seeing is how the new TV deal will change the landscape. You wouldn't have seen Norwich going for this level of player last year, but they now have the extra clout to do so - same as Swansea. If you're financially well run and on a decent footing, the increased money can enable you to make some real strides.

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the window takes shape.

Definitely - Norwich have added two young players of genuine international quality in Fer and RVW, and in Redmond have added to their stable of useful wingers. Far from being a scatter-gun recruitment campaign, I'd say they've strengthened their squad a fair bit, in pretty much exactly the areas they were lacking.

Have Chelsea given up chase on Ruddy now they've signed Schwarzer ?!

WBA I think will be forced to strengthen. They have been very tight with the pennies in recent years and rightly so, a very well run club, but with the loss of Lukaku this year, not much depth (when Yacob and Muloumbu were out they really suffered) I think they will struggle unless they bring in two or three decent signings. No way will they finish top 8 again, their form from Jan was religation form ( except for that embarrassing win against us). Norwich , with the signings they have made on top of a few reliable players should be fine, Swansea should do well, seemed to go off pace after the cup final but they should be fine. Everton for me will drop a few places and Liverpool too if they loose Suarez. Really really really looking forward to this season, with the changes at the top of the league and the 'smaller' clubs investing in some decent talent should be a great season.

It's certainly going to be a bit different with the top teams having a shake up, as well as a lot of the middle teams pushing on. Some could collapse like Newcastle did last season, and others could really surprise like WBA did, very exciting! Can't believe it's still over a month away!

All these teams signing quality players left right and centre and we've only signed 1 guy so far!

Meant to be ambitious...and no one wants to join us...our transfer policy is tremendously frustrating to say the least.

More such cutting analysis, please...

All I am saying from years of watching football in this country, I am an old git, if it was as simple as cherry picking good players from around Europe every single team with a bit of money would do it and finish mid-to-top-six and that is clearly not the case.

I am betting that one of the clubs, that a few posters are salivating over on this Forum, might end up much lower down the table than is predicted..I have a sneaking suspicion that Norwich may not do as well as they clearly think they are going to. A great looking team-sheet does not win you any games.

That is all.

Well that's pretty obvious. He turned 18 and so the lads obviously just allowed him to watch his first ever Porn movie.

Too be honest, it's quite offensive. Not only is it racial stereotyping, even for white guys like myself with extra large penis' it is objectifying.

So please stop.

Back to the subject...

just listening to the Press Pass on Talksport, and they were talking about Liverpool targets. The Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld was mentioned, and one of the journalists said that they thought Southampton would scupper that as they were interested in him. He then probably blew any credibility by saying Ryan Bertrand wouldn't go to Liverpool either and indicated that some sort of swap with Luke Shaw.

Norwich's bid for Alderweireld was reported to be £6.9m & accepted by Ajax. Bit of a bargain, I'd put him in the £10-12m bracket. Would love to see us put a bid in and get him, we'd have two top class CL standard centre backs then.

Christ, imagine getting him, Banega, Damiao and Stoch plus Lovren and Wanyama. We'd definitely have a side capable of knocking on the door of the top 6 or 7. Dreaming a bit now!

It's fact. The Celtic fans say so and they're used to seeing cabers.

Cant see us losing Jose unless we bring in some form of replacement, maybe the rumblings we have taken a look at Anderweireld are true

Hope so, great player

Bring in Anderweireld & use Jose as makeweight for Stoch, the latter has been mentioned by someone else on here
