Saint Fan CaM Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Aribo, Aribo! The Saints fans shouted from the remaining stand of the once magnificent St Mary’s Stadium, after their talisman 35 year old striker slotted home his 10th goal of the 2029 League 2 season. It’s all looking roses for Saints now sitting in 15th in the table. 7

Yeah, yeah, yeah....but would putting him up front be a sign of desperation or an acknowledgement that he could actually do a job for us? Given Downs is beyond awful, given Aribo is pretty good with the ball at his feet, I would like to think they've used the international break to test him out as our centre forward. 2 1
Hodds37 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Aribo needs to be given a go up top. Hopefully the pressers question Still on this. As we have no one else!

How many players have we got who have scored a goal in a European club final ? I'm not a fan of Aribo but he is big, he can hold a ball up and his biggest asset is he cannot possibly be any worse than the American fella. It wont happen of course but whilst he's sat on his arse picking up a big salary you might just try and make use of him - desperate measures and all that ! Edited October 14 by beatlesaint 5
disconnect Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Has anyone thought that the reason he's not playing is because he's said he doesn't want to be here? Hopefully the question will be asked, but it did seem almost certain he'd go, he hasn't for whatever reason but if he's not wanting to play then I think it's fair he hasn't been in the squad (although annoying for Saints).

Frankly, if he's still recieving a wage packet every week, he needs to be available to play. 12

I don't disagree, just feels like as he's completely out of the picture he might have said "I want to leave" and by principal they're not playing him and having a potentially disruptive player around the squad. Have we seen Joe and Edozie training with the first team? Has it been queried in the press releases yet?

I don’t think it’s been queried but they were training with the team in the days after the window shut.

Saint Fan CaM Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Aribo certainly could possibly do a job as a central attacker - knows how to trap and defend a ball and can turn his man. I can see no reason whatsoever why Still should not give him a go for the first half and see if it clicks with AA playing off him on the right and Scienza on the left and Azaz behind him as 10. 2

Have we seen Joe and Edozie training with the first team? Has it been queried in the press releases yet? I wonder how many professional players are actually disruptive? In what form does that manifest? If players have effectively gone on strike to force a move, then I can see it being very difficult to accept the player back into the fold, but if they simply said they wanted out and didn't get a move for whatever, reason, you'd think both player and manager would be able to move on. Perhaps they have and the players just don't seem better than what we have to Still?

Well it certainly looks that way from how he's played since coming back in under Eckert. You've got players like Adams and KWP (recent examples) who knew they would be leaving but still put in 100% for the club. Then you've got ones like Aribo who just can't be arsed. 3

LoyalSaintSO50 Posted Saturday at 18:49 Posted Saturday at 18:49 That substitution did us. The bloke is way off the pace, not fit enough. It’s been obvious for the past few games he’s come on 2
Greenridge Posted Saturday at 18:50 Posted Saturday at 18:50 No wonder Still didn’t want him anywhere near the first team. 3
LaptopSaint Posted Saturday at 19:13 Posted Saturday at 19:13 One of the worst cameos I’ve seen in a Saints shirt. And I’m old enough to remember Ali Dia. 5

Zorba Posted Saturday at 19:18 Posted Saturday at 19:18 Joe has been ok for us, unpredictable and a bit of a donkey, but ok. He’s finished now though, shouldn’t be brought on again. We need energy and commitment from our subs, Joe just doesn’t have these attributes any more. 1

Gloucester Saint Posted Saturday at 19:24 Posted Saturday at 19:24 4 minutes ago, Badger said: Was it Damion Downs level ? Pretty much, worse arguably. Joe has been on the scoff judging by his lack of fitness since his agent wasn’t able to bluff a move to the Saudi or Qatari leagues in September. Even Diallo and Holgate could get a gig in the latter and they’re appalling.
bpsaint Posted Saturday at 19:53 Posted Saturday at 19:53 Absolute disgrace that he still has the number 7 shirt. 4
bobby_charles Posted Saturday at 20:16 Posted Saturday at 20:16 Still he is out of contract in the summer thank christ. How he gets a chant and kwp never did will always baffle me 1
Lighthouse Posted Saturday at 20:21 Posted Saturday at 20:21 Joe, on the off chance you’re reading this; I’m very that we’ve disturbed your weekend plans yet again. Please can you find it in your heart to forgive us.
BILLY Posted Saturday at 20:46 Posted Saturday at 20:46 Aribo was a disgrace today. Never want to him in a Saints shirt again 4

S-Clarke Posted Saturday at 20:52 Posted Saturday at 20:52 Aribo's style has always been like this, very 'lazy' looking in the way he plays - and I prefer him in a more advanced role, than arsing around in a central CM position - as it cost us. That sub was an incredibly bad call at the wrong time. 5
Number9 Posted Saturday at 22:04 Posted Saturday at 22:04 Can't Tonda tell that Joe being on £45k per week doesn't have hungry eyes?
Willo of Whiteley Posted Saturday at 22:30 Posted Saturday at 22:30 I hope he doesn’t play for the club again. Very simple. 7
coalman Posted yesterday at 06:01 Posted yesterday at 06:01 With that level of application he shouldn't even be training with the first team squad. Let alone in it. 3
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I know some will say it doesn’t matter but Aribo and Quarshie were warming up at half time in huge puffy coats that came down to their knees. How the fuck can that be getting a proper warm up to come on as a sub? Aribo then came on and played like he was still wearing it. 1

I wouldn't take too much notice of it. He has been very non controversial in his media duties so far and clearly was being asked in the hope he might provide some kind of story but instead just gave a stock response. With Aribo we don't really know the full story, I think the club probably wanted him out as he had a year left so are also responsible if he isn't sharp because they seemingly didnt have him training with the team all summer. So I take his comment as his way of making it a non story, especially as the last thing they would want before a transfer window is to question his professionaliam. The time to worry would be when he picls Aribo over Scienza, Fellows, Azaz etc and so far there is no sign of that, he has been used off the bench when we have been lacking options of late.
