Looks a decent player, hopefully RC Lens' board are not as delusional as ours and demand £50m + sell on clause.

Don’t think that will put off Palace, a club on the up, and Dibbers wont need a tetanus booster when he signs the contract.

I reckon the Lens guy is a smokescreen.

My next concern would then be the wide player situation.

The Lens guy is for the wide position. Spertsyan is a totally different player.

I love this time of the window.

The bed wetting starts getting to extreme levels, outrage, rants and forum posters thinking transfers are "here is Southampton money, it's green and good" selling club "Southampton superior club than us must sell at whatever price and timing suits them otherwise bring great shame on village", player we want "I have to join Southampton, greatest club ever, must prove I can do it on a rainy night in stoke for family honour".

Krasnadors chief job is to do the best job for Krasnador, that's stringing it out as long as possible.

I could understand if we'd lost both games but we've done alright and haven't had a preferred 11 start yet.

We obviously haven't given them a deadline or it's not overdue for a decision, or more likely Player and President agreed a timeline before a decision so we wait and at some point Spors moves on or completes the deal.

To be fair, it's also that time of the window where people tell other people to stop wetting the bed when, 3 months later, the 'bedwetters' are often proved correct... ;)

Just imagine how it must feel to play second fiddle in your own city for the whole of your football history with no chance of ever being the main club. Liverpool FC afforded our players over the years. But you’re not them of course.

He'd almost certainly be included in any deal IMO.

I know the current popular trend is for those 'swap deals' to be advertised as 'entirely separate deals, they're not linked', but they are. And it would be directly linked if it happened.

Maybe we can do one of those PSR dodgy deals.

They give us 100m for Dibling and we give them 60m for Rak-Saki. Pure profit on both sides and we can then buy everyone.

All in jest but it does bring the recent PSR Villa-Newcastle trades to mind. Football has completely lost its bearings.

If either player's contract sees them get a percentage of the sale, they are going to be very happy indeed!

The72 website suggests Plymouth, Barnsley, Orient and Reading are all looking to get Ballard.

Hopefully he can carve out a decent league career. I think he could be as impactful as Sam Hoskins was at Northampton, as long as he stays fit.

The injury came at a bad time for him for sure, but he's not really someone we need to be hanging onto anymore.

What about that Esse they signed from Millwall last season. Can't say I've noticed that he's had much game time. Looked a decent player when I saw him for Millwall.

Statistically he's worse than Edozie.  He was dropped by Sheff Utd for the run in last season and didn't exactly set the world alight before that.  Palace are desperate to shift him out and I think we'd be mugs to accommodate them.

We signed a guy in the final year of his contract for £11m after he'd snapped his Achilles (usual recovery time of around a year).

There are no bigger mugs.

Fernandes, Dibling and Aribo will be shipped out for around £90 million, we will bring in a couple of loans and a free transfer and everyone in the board room smoke fat Cubans and high fives each other for a job well done. We get promoted via the play-offs using the players we have, SR cheap out on signing good players again in the Prem, and we end up back here again, selling Jay Robinson and whoever else makes us a fat profit.

We know the script. Roll on September 2nd.

Oh and yeah, I got up on the wrong side of the bed. Bitches.

That might be funny if it were not somewhat likely to come true. There’s still time to come out of the window with a couple of quality signings and with a bit of luck Fernandes still in place. I dread to think how the season will pan out without more creativity in the side - we’re 1 or 2 injuries away from a bad run of form.

Yeah I was just thinking that with two clubs now in the race, its highly unlikely we’ll be able to resist an inflated fee. If either/or Dibling and Fernandes don’t play at the weekend (minor knocks in training!) we’ll know why.

If there was a yawn emoji on that transfer saga, I’d use it. Not coming here and a host of problems with it.

The fact that the selling club seems to be desperately trying to work up a bidding war (rather then there actually being one) is setting off alarm bells for me.

At least with Gakpo it was clear there were other clubs in the running.

Is that not exactly what we're doing with Dibling though?

Slightly different I think, we’ve set a price (fairly publicly) that we’re happy to take. Krasnodar seem to keep moving the goalposts on an acceptable fee.

I would be telling them we’re taking our offer (which by all accounts seems to be by far the best) of the table.

I had thought that. I saw his 2 goals and whilst they went in, there was not a lot of power in the shots.

Read an account last night which suggested the Russians won’t want to sell to a “lesser” / not top division side as it makes losing their best player look worse to their fans.

Sounds as though they will likely not sell to us regardless of our offer and the player will not push the transfer out of loyalty to the side. If so what a complete mess surely we find this sort of info out before spending so much time on one player. As others have suggested a deadline seems like the best solution.

There is certainly something weird going on with their attitude towards us and this transfer. Starting to feel like the footballing equivalent of negotiating with Putin... serious ego massaging and placating required to even get a foot in the door. All very odd.

I think they have respect for the player who has been with them all of his career, they're looking after him as if he was one of their 'kids' - from all I've read, they feel he deserves better than a 2nd division team - which is fair to be honest, he is clearly too good for this level.

I reckon a Porto or someone like that will come in and offer less than us, and they'll let him go. I think that's what they've said to him, they won't stand in his way of a top league European club...but they don't want his talent wasted in Preston or Stoke.

I can't see any situation where this happens. I started to get suss when that acount started going a bit random with it's updates, it screamed Gakpo from the outset really.
