Another take on the situation. 🤷‍♂️

Pretty sure this guy is where Armenie football gets his information from. If the guy wants the transfer he’s going to have to fight for it. Have strong doubts that will happen.

All I will say re Azaz, quality player at this level. Good signing.

On a non footballing level, i hope Saints evaluate the religion factor too, specifically during today’s world context, of having people from different religious backgrounds (jews and muslims mixing together) and its not going to affect squad morale.
Have had the case at work and they just ignore each other.

Interesting opening salvo from Eagle778

For those who remember the last Championship saga…

The Spertsyan saga feels like 100 Skacel sagas rolled into 1.

I wonder if we'll have him sign his contract on the pitch?

That was a funny saga, dealing with that crazy Hearts owner at the time iirc.

I think this is the first time I've seen a club (if true) refuse to sell a player because they don't think the buyer is worthy, truly insane.

Said the other day we should sell Juan to Goztepe for £20m to help with PSR. Won't be £20m, but hopefully it's above his market value, as other linked clubs do.

So, has he signed yet?

I suggest if Southampton have any such players with such backwards views they'd be out of the club pretty quick sharp.

If any person of any religion can't mix with any other person of another religion in this country, they shouldn't be in this country.

I read Still's comment about international players needing to play at a higher level to be referring to player we are trying to sign rather than retain, but it was ambiguous.

Who would the Middlesbrough lad replace if we got him in our recent formations ? Fernandes?

If true, I assume it's something lost in translation. Presumably they just think a "bigger" club will come in with a higher offer.

Yeah that’s rubbish isn’t it. The club isn’t his agent looking out for him. From clubs perspective, whichever club offers them the best deal is the club they want him to go for, whether he plays or not

How underwhelming did that transfer end up being as well?

If we offered £50m (extreme to illustrate a point) I'd wager they wouldn't give a stuff who we are...

He was absolutely hero worshipped taking corners.  I remember him scoring a belter against Yeovil (I think).

Armenian journalist Robert Markosyan 🇦🇲 on Eduard Spertsyan 🇦🇲:

"Krasnodar, which is supposed to 'love and value' Eduard Spertsyan, is compromising his future with all sorts of false excuses. In reality, there is only one explanation: 'selfishness'"

Bigger picture stuff Urope isn’t one big area where everyone shares the same “values” .Over eastern bit they have more traditionalist values. We are trying to analyse posts from over "that bit" through western eyes.
anyway Saints carry out a physiological check on most players.

cue piss taking because I’m trying to be a bit more thoughtful 🤦‍♂️

This signing has not just happened, it has been worked on for weeks. My source that said we were getting a new RB and we would be pleased about it has said things took longer than he thought because he understood this was initially being looked at as a loan with an option to buy. Something obviously changed which is not unusual.

Not sure if Blackmore is guessing on that one. It would make sense though.

He was a player who arrived with much fanfare, but holy christ he is easily the worst RB we've ever had in the PL. He's a happy chap, but he made me depressed.

If we get a good fee for him, at least making back our £6m, then we should accept it and move on. He's even frustrated me in the Champ with his awful wayward passing.

Everything about his game is so bad. It's a shame really because I love his attitude and how he approaches 'life', but he's just not right for English football.

A poor pick of many from that ill-fated transfer window last year.

I feel like he was one of the examples Will Still meant re: International managers wanting players to be “top 5 league” etc

It’s a struggle to think of a worse one. I can’t think of anything he does particularly well. I know he was playing in an awful team but even this season he has looked just as bad. Shame as you see as appears a good guy but awful player

I'm not sure what type of football he would be right for?

Interesting that Still was quite content to discuss signing Kabore even though this signing was already wrapped up. Maybe Bree off too.

Or he was playing the game very well.

According to some of the reports, the player wants to come here (not totally convinced on that one), and Saints have met his clubs valuation (some saying release clause).

This being the case what ‘values’ prevent  the deal ?  [ intended as serious question]
