Sunderland were able to sign Wilson Isidor from Russia, so it is possible.

Load of nonsense from Krasnodar.

They just don’t want to sell him to us, as they don’t want to be seen to be selling their best player and captain to a second division team. They’re clearly hoping a better financial deal will come (which it doesn’t look like it will).

Sign Azaz instead and move on.

Hopefully Spertsyan runs his contract and gets out of there for his own careers sake next year.

The english second division is an absolute mile better than the noody russian leauge. When you factor in money, support and reward for promotion - there aren't many in the world better. Only top leauges in England, Germany, Spain and maybe france come close.

By my reckoning (courtesy of Wikipedia), 17 out of the 36 players listed in the Portugese international squad play in leagues ranked lower than the Championship. You can therefore understand Still's obvious frustration that you've got Roberto Martinez seemingly / effectively attempting to encourage Fernandes to leave the club....

As I took it. Still said it in an answer to if it is frustrating to move players out. I read it as maybe Aribo, or one of our players that we have lined up a move for, only for it to halt, because of an international manager saying the league we are selling to, is not of high enough standard.

Then Blackmore brought up the Championship in his next question, Still did not say the Championship was a problem, he just agreed when Adam did his normal routine of answering his own questions before he asks them.

Quite the Irish contingent.

Bazunu, Manning, Smallbone, Azaz(?) and I think there are a couple of promising youth players as well.

Should make my hoped for pre-season friendly with Glasgow Rangers next summer a bit more spicy... ;)

Nah Lighthouse is real, I played in midfield with him for one of the Saints fan games once 😂

I think I was supposed to be playing CB, shows how sh*t my positioning was. I think it was the WBA fans game they didn’t turn up for.

West Ham ITK exWHUEmployee's most recent update:

“West Ham and Southampton are still miles apart in their valuations of the player. The club have denied reports that they have bid £40m and have said that this is far too much for him, but Southampton are said to be looking for around £50m for the player.

“It is thought that West Ham’s offer currently sits at £32m with a few clauses on top. Unless one party seriously budges, it looks like a deal will be hard to conclude. We are looking at inserting various add-ons to try and get closer to the price but there is still a long way to go.”

Did that stop him from scoring 24 Championship goals to help get us promoted?

From the right wing, as an inside forward, in a particular boring system, he did very well. Would never say otherwise.

…But he isn’t a 9. Every time he plays up there we look worse for it as the ball constantly comes back at us.

The problem is after the Dibling affair clubs will be reluctant to do business with us in fear of our board pulling a fast one.

What a palaver.

Wasn’t it Watford ? Im sure it was at Fleming park ?

The other one I played in I was asked to play attacking CB IIRC 😂

Could also apply to players that have left? Sule, Bednarek?

Our board couldn’t pull a muscle let alone a fast one 😉

“Us”. You’re a fan of Liverpool’s reserve team. Tell your club to come back for Dibling when you can afford him.

Not on Alfie's twitter feed so not sure where it's come from.  Probably for the best on all three fronts, but we will need replacements

Shame, still think Edozie would be useful in this league.

In summary, rejected a bid but can’t rule out selling as we might meet their valuation. Will play this weekend but can’t guarantee he stays beyond that.

Was obviously referring to one of the Irish contingent, most likely Smallbone 😃.

I wonder what the value of the bid Boro rejected for Azaz was, £12m apparently gets the job done.

If we’ve gone the West Ham route, probably £1.5m

So why don't Goztepe buy him and then loan him to us? Seems to work the other way.

Anyone think/ITk if we have, or will, make a higher bid for Azaz?

Not ITK but clubs don't tend to make first bids without having the willingness to make a second bid, if the player wants the move and the selling club isn't refusing to engage with the first offer

Is this a translation quirk, and it basically means we have made a very complicated offer for him with lots of add-ons they are not confident of receiving, or that they will take a long time to materialise

Hello,

Long time reader of the forum, first time poster....

There seems to be a slight pattern in Saints' recent transfers...I noticed with that Finn Azaz is represented by Unique Sports Group, an agency which also represents Will Still, THB, Archer, Quarshie as well as recent players such as Adams and Cornet (lol).

TransferMarkt lists other players represented by Unique Sports Group

https://www.transfermarkt.com/unique-sports-group/beraterfirma/berater/4142

I am not ITK - but maybe something to keep an eye on re other potential targets for this window and next?

Up the saints,

SN

I think you're reading into this a little too much.

Unique Sports Group is one of the largest agents in football, so naturally have a lot of players on their books.

That does seem to be the situation.

Feels like a "struggles to settle" type of player to me.

WE MARCH ON

I did a job with a guy who'd studied and worked in Russia back in the 80's, and he said the key to understanding them is that nobody ever means anything they say, and they'll just deny it all anyway. Like being at the airport shop and asking for a bar of chocolate he could see and being told they don't sell chocolate, but when he just pointed and said 'That thing' they'd sell it to him.

Basically they're probably looking for some kind of sneaky backhander and it'll either get sorted and there will no problem and they'll all be sweetness and light, or it won't and they'll say there was no offer, it was all just fake news. Or something like that.

If Villa lose Ramsey and Rogers, they could struggle unless they bring the right players come in. Only so long you can rely on Watkins, McGinn and Mings.

Indeed. Why would we keep bidding if we knew the player wasn't interested. Anyway the agent has come out and said the player wants the move.

Absolutely. Player wants to leave, club refuse to sell to us because they can’t accept the fact their best offer is from us, club then put blame at players door for refusing the move.

I hope they lose him on a free next year.

They probably not confident on the promotion fee bonus and avoiding relegation in the PL bonus, don't blame them on the 2nd part!!

I don’t blame them to be fair.  Just agree a price and get it done, or walk away.  They want cash, not add-ons.
