We've got a fucking concrete slop merchant next to ours.

Which is apparently a big attraction to Dragan Solak.. Or something....

Derby overall. Have some ambition.

We would be mad not to bring Ralph back now he’s left Wolfsburg.

That’s if he’s prepared to come to the funny farm. He would rock the Championship with a bit of financial support to rebuild.

Unfortunately I think he’s too big a name and has far better clubs that would be in for him.

Hurts like hell to say it, but we are sliding into the abyss until someone grabs us by the balls, (excuse the pun).

In that I mean a proper Chairperson in control with a DOF and a top European league manager.

Obviously, we're waiting until we are officially relegated and his current team Kidderminster, are finished with their playoffs to establish compensation. 🙂

That time has been and gone. I was a big fan of Ralph and always will be, his departure was handled horrifically by the fools in charge of the club, but we shouldn't go back. Both sides have moved on now.

Do try to keep up. Kidderminster lost their play-off semi final to Chester yesterday.

Talks about compensation have been talking place today. 😂

It's pretty much exactly the same stadium built to the same Barr specification of the late 90s. If there is a marginal difference in max capacity it will be due to fannying around with corporate space vs seats.

No agreed same template. From memory they have a larger 2nd tier on one side.

Crucially the seats are bigger and there is standard leg room. They didn't squeeze in extra seats that Lowe insisted on. Good business decision but uncomfortable.

Gosh! I am out of touch. Looking forward to this getting done at the earliest. It's a good time to be buying garden chairs. And I hear we'll be shopping, so the players can have a seat in the centre circle, for their half time team talks.

Surely we can temp Warnock out of retirement

We could accidentally drop a brown envelope. That would bring Saggy Bagpuss racing back...because he's very strict about littering. We could chat to him about the vacancy while he's here.

Rednapp & Son, with their comical rag and bone horse, bringing back cartloads of discarded midfielders, for a fee,  could be the back up choice to the Big Sam/Little Sam dream ticket.

With parasols of course. Don't want any excuses of wilting in the heat in the second half.

I love RH: at his best he was superb. He did wanders for us. But he was completely wrecked by the end, and should've left months before.

I see little benefit in trying to resurrect the past.

Someone like him: yes. But not the man himself. That would be pointless and cruel.

Totally agree with all this, good post.

However don't change 'wanders', love typos like that.

Hi! We're Holmes and Watson. We're just back from the future, where we stopped a HG Wells inspired Moriarty, in a dreadful TV movie.

While we were there, we looked at this thread. The next 2 dozen posts were MLG arguing that, since Cooper was in charge, it's unfair to say he didn't keep them up. Another 2 dozen counter posts pointed out the trajectory of the club, it's goals and push back against Cooper.

It all ends badly, and Lighthouse has to put it in the Lounge. So, I thought I'd spare everyone the pain.

This is the annual reminder we sacked Puel for finishing 8th, having sold Pelle, Mane and VVD going on strike, and he took us to League Cup Final beating Arsenal and Liverpool en route without conceding a goal.

All because the football was apparently “boring”.

Also sold Wanyama and Fonte in the January window

Puel lost 5 of Koemans best players which included his centre backs and two top goal scorers

Given Southampton's recent relegation and the pressing need to rebuild for an immediate return to the Premier League, the club's managerial appointment is critical.  Working under Sporting Director Johannes Spors, who emphasizes a cohesive footballing philosophy and strategic player recruitment, the next manager must align with this vision.

Top Managerial Candidates

1. Danny Röhl (Sheffield Wednesday)

Profile: At 35, Röhl has garnered attention for his transformative work at Sheffield Wednesday, steering them from relegation threats to playoff contenders.  His prior experience includes assistant roles at Southampton and Bayern Munich, showcasing his tactical acumen and familiarity with the club's environment.

Alignment with Spors: Röhl's emphasis on structured, high-pressing football dovetails with Spors' vision, making him a strong fit for a collaborative rebuild.

Considerations: Securing Röhl would require negotiating a compensation package due to his existing contract with Sheffield Wednesday.

2. Carlos Corberán (West Bromwich Albion)

Profile: Corberán has demonstrated his capability by revitalizing teams like Huddersfield Town and West Brom, instilling a possession-based, high-energy playing style.

Alignment with Spors: His tactical approach and experience in the Championship align well with Spors' strategic objectives.

Considerations: While Corberán has expressed interest in the Southampton role, his commitment to West Brom and potential compensation requirements are factors to consider.

3. Will Still (RC Lens)

Profile: At just 32, Still has made significant strides with RC Lens in Ligue 1, achieving commendable results despite budgetary constraints.

Alignment with Spors: His adaptability and success in developing talent resonate with Spors' emphasis on youth and sustainable growth.

Considerations: Transitioning from Ligue 1 to the Championship presents challenges, and his lack of experience in English football could be a hurdle.

4. Kasper Hjulmand (Former Denmark National Team Coach)

Profile: Hjulmand led Denmark to the Euro 2020 semi-finals and has a reputation for disciplined, tactical football.

Alignment with Spors: His strategic mindset and experience in international football could bring a fresh perspective to Southampton's rebuild.

Considerations: His limited experience in English club football and a brief, less successful stint at Mainz may raise concerns.

5. Liam Rosenior (RC Strasbourg)

Profile: Rosenior has impressed at Strasbourg, a club under Chelsea's ownership, showcasing his ability to manage within a broader footballing network.

Alignment with Spors: His progressive approach and experience in multi-club structures align with Spors' operational model.

Considerations: Potential complications due to Strasbourg's ownership and the perception of moving to a lower-tier club may affect negotiations.

Recommendation

Considering the need for a manager who can immediately impact performance, understands the Championship landscape, and aligns with Johannes Spors' strategic vision, Danny Röhl emerges as the most suitable candidate.  His previous association with Southampton, combined with his recent successes and tactical philosophy, make him well-equipped to lead the club's resurgence.

Should negotiations with Röhl prove challenging, Carlos Corberán stands as a strong alternative, bringing valuable Championship experience and a compatible footballing approach.

Carlos Corberan left for Valencia last year, pretty out of date from AI's point of view!

The sensible appointment would be Rohl, but like others I'm surprised by the lack of mention of Cooper anywhere

Van Dijk wasn’t on strike under Puel, played pretty much every game until Vardy crocked him.
