Lee On Solent Saint Posted Sunday at 11:44 Posted Sunday at 11:44 Stating the obvious, really need to get to half time level. Regroup at the break.

Saint NL Posted Sunday at 11:45 Posted Sunday at 11:45 I'd love to see a replay of that pull on Armstrong

Sheaf Saint Posted Sunday at 11:45 Posted Sunday at 11:45 Who is the co-commentator? Seems to think putting your arm on an opponent's shoulder and pulling them over isn't a foul. 1
Greenridge Posted Sunday at 11:45 Posted Sunday at 11:45 4 minutes ago, Saint_clark said: Amazing. They show a replay of Downes having his shirt pulled at the corner and the co-comm says that Downes needs to be careful defending without looking at the ball. Great save Bazunu, Quarshie an empty shirt gone past so easy. Who is the Co-commentator? Completely positive about everything Ipswich do and negative towards everything Southampton to, in particular with challenges. Assuming he’s an ex-player. 1

Sorry I said the 18 year old with less than 5 professional appearances is inexperienced. Hilarious. Of course, I agree he's inexperienced. I was disagreeing with you calling him naieve. His choices have been positive and beyond his tender years. 1

Colinjb Posted Sunday at 11:49 Posted Sunday at 11:49 Not a bad half, its just a shame that we can look so good in spells and then undermine things with errors. 1

obelisk Posted Sunday at 11:50 Posted Sunday at 11:50 I'd have take 1-1 at HT after that first 5 minutes. Reckon there's 3 points available here today if Saints defence can stop playing Russball. 7
stknowle Posted Sunday at 11:51 Posted Sunday at 11:51 Some decent passages of play but we’re making way too many unforced errors. I’ll be surprised if Ipswich don’t score again. 1

macca155 Posted Sunday at 11:51 Posted Sunday at 11:51 Evenly matched half, as you would expect. Both defences are a shambles, ours more so. Still has to resolve this quickly, otherwise Ipswich will take control.
Viking Saint Posted Sunday at 11:51 Posted Sunday at 11:51 5 minutes ago, Harry_SFC said: Has anyone noticed that these commentators absolutely hate us? Yep, its as one eyed as can be. They're going down like hookers and deserve free kicks and we're getting fouled off the park and are accused of going down too easily. Embarrassing
Saint NL Posted Sunday at 11:51 Posted Sunday at 11:51 Half time. Defensively all over the shop. Lots of mistakes. But looking much sharper going forward. I'd swap Welington with Manning just to avoid the inevitable red card. Armstrong has done little as expected. Robinson looks a real talent 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted Sunday at 11:51 Posted Sunday at 11:51 Saints doing ok but there are some big questions over the defensive coaching when five at the back. There are still scars from RM and last season. Cant help but think that’s connected to Stephens and THB. 1 1 1
benjii Posted Sunday at 11:51 Posted Sunday at 11:51 Fraser, Charles and Robinson probably our best players again. Also, Baz really does well helping out the defenders with his positioning. Centre back obviously a worry. Can see a red card for someone (either side).
AlexLaw76 Posted Sunday at 11:52 Posted Sunday at 11:52 Ref shite for both teams Robinson and Fraser have been good, as well as Stephens fuck me, Quarahie was horrific for the 20 mins or so
Scoobysaint Posted Sunday at 11:52 Posted Sunday at 11:52 A decent half at times, bit worrying at others. After last season any passing around at the back raises my heart rate!! I’d get Wellington off for Manning at HT and maybe Arma for Archer at 65 mins if he’s still not doing a lot.
sockeye Posted Sunday at 11:53 Posted Sunday at 11:53 Half-time. We are still so raw and full of mistakes. The back line is very very shaky. I think Wood needs to come on for Quarshie, who has looked like a total liability this game. THB has also been poor. Welington seems to oscillate between handy and risky for me. But himself, Robinson and Fraser have been making an ok case for our attack this game. Incredibly unlucky that both Stewart and Downs are ill, because we are missing a sharp end to the blade up front. I want to see Dibling play from 60mins. Goal was nice. I think Robinson will go far. 1
AlexLaw76 Posted Sunday at 11:54 Posted Sunday at 11:54 When we try to pass the ball out from Bazunu, you can see Ipswich line up to force us to give the ball to Quarshie 1

LiberalCommunist Posted Sunday at 11:56 Posted Sunday at 11:56 Frustrating early goal to give away, but have come back into the game well. Cut out silly mistakes and there's a point here for the taking. Do something special, and there's three!

Midfield_General Posted Sunday at 11:57 Posted Sunday at 11:57 (edited) HT. 1-1. Lucky to be level as we've only really created one proper chance which we scored from. Their goal an absolute joke from us. Welington, Quarshie, THB and Downes having a competition for who can be the biggest liability. Midfield getting overrun defensively, not helped by our constantly giving the ball away in dangerous positions. Ipswich just strolling through the middle of us at will. Quarshie looks incredibly uncomfortable on the ball. Shocking first touch and can't find a pass to save his life. Armstrong completely ineffective down the middle. Has had zero shots on goal. What a surprise. Bright spots are Fraser and Robinson who are both playing well. Need to get them and Fernandes on the ball as much as possible and find a way of scoring another goal. Would probably swap Welington off for Manning before he gets sent off. Downes needs to be very careful too. We desperately need a focal point at CF. Dare I say it but I'd chuck BBD in there and just tell him to make a physical nuisance of himself and hold it up, and try to get Fraser, Fernandes and Robinson playing off him. Massive defensive improvement needed second half or we're not getting anything out this. Maybe Dibling will come on and put in £45m performance and win it for us on his own. S-Clarke Posted Sunday at 11:57 Posted Sunday at 11:57 Bit of an even game really, too sides clearly building into the season. They'll still have advantage as they're at home, so we'll see how the 2nd half pans out. Quarshie has great physical attributes, but he can't seem to play football which is a concern. He's been our biggest problem area, on his own, in the first half. Fraser proving his usefulness from a RWB role with the cross for our goal, but it was the quick thinking and touch of Fernandes which made that happen. That allowed us to overwhelm them at speed. Without that touch, we'd have ambled up field and the momentum would be gone. Still lots to improve on, still big gaps of quality missing in our team. 1
