Personally think we should have appointed Sean Dyche and given him free rein. Make us hard to beat first. Instil belief. Clean sheets. Then build. But have a character through the team. Appointing Still is just another attempt to massage the ‘we’re really clever’ bunch at the club who got lucky once and are living on that. It permeates the club. Still is a sham. Computer guy. Get a real manager. This is embarrassing. Still.

We’re not getting close to affording Dyche

Have you ever accidentally stepped in dog shit and then slip over on it, with it then smearing all over your face. When you get up you realise a bus load of people saw it and are all pointing and laughing whilst taking videos and posting on social media.

it was like that.

If you can see what a manager is trying to achieve then it's usually worth giving them time,  but I challenge anyone to tell me what it is Still is trying to do, and to be honest I don't think even he knows.

The only thing you can say in his defence is Spors failed to buy him a striker, a keeper, or a decent cb or any sort of leader.

I am also with you that I struggle to understand what the plan is other than get between the lines and see where that takes us or to get it to Fellows and see where that takes us. Maybe that's enough of a plan...but it's not working just yet. I say that because I haven't given up yet. It was weak as piss CB that cost us today.  We identified that we lacked physicality in that position, and signed Quarshie, but we haven't played him.

There was a moment in the second half today when we did find ourselves on a bit of a counter because Hull had committed a few players forward. We got it to the RW position and all it needed was someone to play a clever defence splitting pass because we had players in the middle who were well placed to run on, but Roerslev (I think it was him) just stopped, waited, and then played the same predictable pass back infield while the Hull defenders got back into position.

We're never going to score if we keep doing that over and over. It's infuriating to watch.

that moment stood out for me. Feels like years since we scored goals on the break. Every other team seems to be able to do it except us.

Funny thing or worrying thing Will said in his presser, of course he's not lumping it upto Archer but for a weird 10mins 45-55 we literally banged everything into Downs ignoring any central runs and immediately put the ball out wide. Now I know Downs isn't Archer but wtf, Downs is far worse than Archer and also not likely to win a header, not really down to his height but he's seems to have no idea about positioning and when to make your run, he is one of the worst strikers I've seen here

Unless there is a total transformation in his performance and technique, his place in my worst ever XI is safe up front. Makes Carrillo look like Jan Koller by comparison.

At least he will never get into my Saints worst ever top flight XI.

Bazunu has the ‘honour’ of being in goal for both.

Indeed. Probably have to go back to Ralph's time in post when we would aggressively press to win the ball high up the pitch and then play a quick ball forward to Ings. I miss those days.

Sham manager. Champ manager is not real world and no amount of tactical bullshit on Monday Night Football will cut it in the real world. Sadly we have management (and fan base, largely) who were/are taken in by it. Embarrassing. Current trajectory is going down

You probably had a more enjoyable day, put it that way.

(I mean that in light hearted jest, sorry for your loss)

The Prediction Wheel, reliable once all season. It is as pointless as Albert Gronbaek's signing. It is as accurate as Guido Carillo and as useless as Ali Dia. And yet here we are. Let's see if it predicts a huge win for Saints.

No. No it's doesn't. But that's possibly a good thing. It basks in the glory of getting the opening day result right against Wrexham and to hell with the rest of the season.

Personally I think we'll win. It won't be pretty,  it won't be comprehensive, but I think we'll have enough.

And then there's Liverpool...

Well bugger me, the wheel gets it right for a second time this season. Just a shame the "right" result was the "wrong" result for Saints.

It will be back for the Liverpool game once I've had time to scold it and tell it that it's a naughty boy.

We always seem to go for the "clever" option, which never actually is. The obsession with basing recruitment on re-sale potential is fucked up too. The whole club just feels disfunctional at the moment. I would personally welcome new owners with some football knowledge and ambition. Sport Republic have been a total disaster from day one.

I'm sure I am overlooking the obvious, but when's the last time we scored immediately after an opposing corner?

I guess if you dominate possession you have less breaks, but we need to sort that out...along with defending free kicks. We are fucking terrible at it. This continued high line bollocks has us running towards our own goal and we simply do not win any headers. We don't even try to win the headers half the time. It's embarassing. We get away with it time after time, but we shouldn't be relying on luck.

THB passed the ball straight to the Hull player today and Stephens does it on numerous occasions. Maybe we need to stop thinking about players who are supposedly great on the ball and start thinking about actual defending.

Bit radical that. Next, you'll be suggesting getting a keeper who can keep the ball out of the net rather than palming it straight to the nearest unmarked attacker.

I hate having a go at New managers and believe they should be given at least 10 league games before getting the boot but Will Still is not helping himself.

He reminds me of all those computer players who have grown up playing Championship Manager and because they led a computer team to the treble believe they can do it in real life.....at the moment Will Still is one of those players!!

I saw a number of Brentford fans say he loves a sideways and backwards pass. So that's both fullbacks then...

We passed it sideways or backwards 420 times today. (69%) 🤦‍♂️

Not what I would have wanted, but probably what the club would have needed. Make the players believe after last season.

Heck, even Martin did a pretty good job getting the players to drink the cool-aid two years ago, and that was not with a solid defence.

What will really annoy me is that this lot are likely to go out and play well at Liverpool and just lose narrowly. What happened seconds after kick-off - what was the freekick to Hull for?

Been saying this for months. Completely agree, would love to see Saints score a goal on the break.

Sick and tired of being on the receiving end of it on a consistent basis.

Manning, Stephens and Harwood-Bellis have been absolutely dogshite.

Quarshie had one dodgy game and got slated. Can't see him being that bad or is it just the poor coaching all round?

Add it to the list.

Proper manager,

Proper defender,

Proper Striker,

Proper goalkeeper

The core of the team. And a ball winning strong leader in the midfield.

More likely to snort them. Although that’s unlikely on second thoughts as cocaine would make them more animated. And this squad makes a sloth seem like a Tamsin Devil.

A wet and dispiriting long journey made worse listening to Hampshire losing cup final on way home!

Once again Charles emerged with some credit but hardly anybody else did.  Cudos to Armstrong who injects energy and scored an excellent goal.  A reminder he was the division’s leading goal scorer two years ago.

I am really concerned at form of Roeslev and THB, and would be inclined to drop both.  Jander is young but looked lightweight and ineffective, and DD just looks well short of the required standard.  I also think if McCarthy plays well again Tuesday you may seem him back for Boro.

I would bring back Wood for THB, play Jelert at right back, and get Armstrong in alongside Archer or Stewart.
