Willo of Whiteley Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 2 minutes ago, St Louis said: Statements like this blow my mind... do you genuinely believe this? That our owners would rather appoint inferior managers/coaches, who will then provide worse results (on the pitch and the bank balance) because of their ego's? Wow. We have so many people on here going on about how we deserve to know exactly what they are doing and who they've interviewed, etc. Even criticising Rasmus for his selection processes, the time its taking him and that he only wants someone who knows less about football than him....FFS!? We dont even know that Rasmus is involved in the process at all (or to what degree) at the moment he probably has his hands full trying to guide Goztepe into the Champions League under his chairmanship. Sorry, rant over, it just does my head in how many people on here make so many ridiculous assumptions... how they are selecting potential managers, how many we are choosing from, they they only want the cheap/crap options really. I never knew had so many forum members sitting in the boardroom. I don’t think there’s much wrong with what DT said, weirdly. I think the overriding concern is that SR have appointed many managers over the years. There is a clear disconnect between the recruitment and the coaching/managerial staff. Take buying Sulemana and Onuachu and then sacking the manager a few weeks later. It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last. SR probably think they’re making the right decisions, however their record is awful. It doesn’t fill you with confidence. 2

Im not questioning that they have made many bad decisions so far, and multiple bad managerial decisions and that things often dont feel like joined up thinking. What I was questioning is the thought that Sports Republic would deliberately be only looking for mangers who 'know less about football than they do'. It's just bonkers and I dont believe anyone really thinks that. Sport Republic have professional and financial skin in the game, they dont want us to fail. They are doing a good job of failing I agree, but that isnt what they want to happen. If we assume they are just a bunch of giant ego's, then they wont enjoy us being where we are right now. 3
Sheaf Saint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 39 minutes ago, tdmickey3 said: What if Tonda is the next Gray, Wigley, Pearson, Selles ? I'd say that's infinitely more likely. When Frank was promoted from within at Brentford, he was simply following an established model that had already brought them success and he brought continuity to that. The people pointing to that example as evidence that it might work with Eckert appear to be ignoring the fact that what we need right now is the opposite of continuity from the previous setup, otherwise sacking Still was just a pointless, knee-jerk reaction. We need someone to come in and make an instant positive change to our playing style and coaching setup, and Eckert is absolutely not that person, regardless of what potential he might have. 8
notnowcato Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 36 minutes ago, Willo of Whiteley said: To be honest that is a good example. I thought Brentford would plummet this season after losing Toney, Mbuemo and Wissa. However, they have been excellent under him. So far I’ve been completely wrong. They were my banker for relegation. What if it's not just about the manager..?? Good recruitment, culture, vision, support structures etc 3
Willo of Whiteley Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Yeah I don’t believe they’d be the type to be like “this’ll be a laugh lads”. Who’s the cheapest manager we can find? 1

MarkSFC Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago So we are now 11 days into the post Still era with very little rumours of note, or noise from from the club. Very often (not always I know) when we sign good players, they come out of the blue and so hopefully this will be the case, preferably before the weekend. I dont expect Tonda to be appointed and the longer it goes on the worse it looks and the more chance it will be Tonda. I do expect it to be someone who is properly known by the majority of fans. I doubt it will be Viera, Gerrard, Carrick, Rodgers. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Ole Gunnar Solskjear and I think hes better than his record probably suggests. We need someone who is going to be very clear on how we are going to play but with a flexible attitude! I like that OGS is people centric and loves to develop people, thats very clearly in line with our DNA. Whoever it ends up being we need 5 or 6 wins out of the next 7 or 8 games to kick start the season! 🙏

Although with the way this club is run i wouldn't be at all surprised if they went for another out of the box, data approach rather than a proven, quality manager The fact that 4 Championship clubs are currently recruiting inevitably means that potential candidates can be a lot less keen to straight away accept offers.....
suewhistle Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I thought it was a reasonable non-commital answer. Did they really expect a definitive one? 3

Draino76 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Whoever is the manager, we should continue with 'Sack the board'. 5
Saint Matty 76 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Eckert has got it permanently. Seems an awful decision but I'm not surprised whatsoever. Hard to believe they've made the Selles mistake again. Good luck to the guy. Edited 9 hours ago by Saint Matty 76 1

Mr Saints Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Entirely laughable yet entirely predictable. See you in a couple of months chaps for the next new manager thread. Spors and SR can fuck right off.
OldNick Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 3 hours ago, Turkish said: Yes exactly, the players will be glowing with praise, SR will see 2 wins, Spors obviously loves him. Im pretty sure it'll be him. But the club do not need to appoint him, they can leave him as he is in a suck it and see situation. The appointment is massive and listening to Simon Peach earlier today on Solent sport it seems the players didnt like WS blunt observations and perhaps we have a bit of a toxic squad (no real surprise as Juric got a similar response) As I have stated before there is a poor gene pool to choose from so whoever we go for it is hardly going to have a united club behind the decision
AlexLaw76 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Hungry Eyes, 32 years old, has absolutely no experience, loves a 3 at the back, internal promotion. This is the best we can do. We are run by complete and utter fucking morons. I actually hate Sports Republic. 8

Pilchards Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago So who do you reckon we will get in after the 25th of January hammering at Fartton park. Such a shame Tonda couldn’t build on his two wins vs the crappiest teams in the championship.
SambaMaverick Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Fuck me... If this backfires SR should flog the club for a quid. A geriatric Ken Bates can buy it for all I care.
OldNick Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Is this fact? I dont see why they would make it permanent when they canleave him as it is and see how it pans out. If it goes wrong we lose him from guiding the under 21's and also have to pay him off. Makes you feel that GON really was to be their choice, and shows how little they really know about the culture of our fanbase to even have him in the running, let alone how poor a manager he is 3

James Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago If true it’s an absolutely laughable decision. Proof that this club learns nothing. May as well fast forward to the next New Manager Thread already.
Willo of Whiteley Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Alex Crook is an absolute chancer. Nothing more, no journalistic integrity. Latches onto stories after they’ve broken. If he’s the first to post a story, it’s usually bollocks and then deleted later. 2

Toussaint Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The Crook story may be nothing, but it is possible SR are sounding out fan reaction. Dragan has history in using talksport as a vehicle.
