Like what? We're talking about a West Ham player, not Lamine Yamal. He's not good enough to sign for a title-competing team like City or Arsenal. The best I could see him doing would be about another seven years at a club like Spurs or Everton and maybe having an outside chance of winning a domestic cup.

We will be done with them by January, so in the run up to the finish they will be taking points off our rivals. They play Boro and wolves near the end too.  Let them run away with it, they'll help us solidify second.

West Ham are not running away with the league 😂 Has nobody watched them recently? Clubs a mess both off the pitch and on it. They aren’t suddenly turning into a winning machine whatever money they make and PR they get.

That’s a far cry from walking the league. I’m happy to revisit this but they scream meltdown potential to me. Ownership is a mess with some serious allegations going on. Fans will be keen to jump on anyone’s back they can. Coach always give the vibe he’s doing everyone a favour despite bang average results. And they even have an ex player with friends in the media who will be waiting in the wings to jump in at the first sign of a bad result or two.

Big reputation, big media focus, big money to be splashed but until they’ve proven they can actually handle that hype and spend money wisely I’m quite happy to oppose them.

Don’t really like Wolves that much either or any of the relegated teams but agree they are the most likely. Pretty sure if I was looking at it neutrally I’d be looking at the form team in the league last season, who have an injustice to motivate them and will have a pretty similar squad to choose from….🫣

I thought he looked petty damn good for West Ham and Holland in the World Cup and that clubs like Liverpool and Barca might fancy him. Perhaps the price put them off.

To be fair, all three are going through some pretty major changes. Burnley have left it late too and would be surprised if they replicate their last four championship seasons quite so easily this time.

I thought Ipswich would. I expected an Ipswich Leicester one two before a balls was kicked. West Ham should have enough about them to win this time around but I guess they may need to add to their squad. I’m not 100% sold on Nuno but he did amazing with Forest so it’s probably my own bias. 
 

All that being said I think we’ll be in the mix. My only major worry is losing/struggling to replace THB and the Stewart shaped hole up top - may resolve soon!

Blimey are they?  Seems to me that they've sold 2 good players for an extroadinary amount of money, kept their best player along with looking like they're going to keep a load of others, sorted out their ownership, and will likely invest a chunk of what they've brought in. Sold 50k season tickets, and fans (like us) will enjoy winning most weeks. If they carry on with the squad they seem to have and add a couple of very good players for this league, they should walk it. Anything else for them surely is a failure

Interesting to see how they do. They’ve lost Hackney and Fry so two pretty big holes to fill. Shame we didn’t get Lankshear, he may well prove his worth but it’s a big gamble at that price tag.

I’m not sure they have sorted their ownership and not convinced their squad is that good, aside from an obvious couple of stand outs.
 

But my point is the idea they just turn everything around into a winning team and ‘walk it’ seems a long way away to me. Maybe they will, but not many do straight away after relegation do they? Recently anyway. Not without exceptional managers who go on to some of the biggest jobs in the world and Nuno isn’t that. They haven’t spent that money yet either. And yes, if they win games everything will be rosey but if they don’t then I think it turns quickly. We’ll see I guess.

Can't say I had noticed Lankshear before the link but I can imagine if we signed him for this amount, after 18 months in championship, 11 goals in 55 games there would have been a lot of negativity.

Particularly when he is described as a goal poacher.

No idea if he is any good.

If Rogers is worth over 100M then  he is deffo worth 30 M. 

I had Rogers in my fantasy league team for a few weeks and he did nothing. It would not suprise me if Charles got more goalsand assists  than Rogers this   calander year.

I'm not sure how this logic works. Shea is a highly rated player who clearly has some potential but wasn't a consistent starter for us last year and made a bunch of basic gaffs as well as scoring some good goals.

Morgan Rogers was pretty well ever present in villas side last year, probably their best player and an England international.

I'm not sure how that makes Shea worth £30m...

Like you, didn’t know a lot about him, and my only recollection was his shot being sliced wide from a good position at St Mary’s last season.

But seems to be highly rated with potential. His track record isn’t too bad at a struggling and relegated Oxford and from what I read his time at WBA seemed as a bit part player for half a season.

£10m up front doesn’t seem that bad for his last season, and potential, the add ons may or may not materialise. I know it isn’t popular to say something positive about Middlesbrough but it doesn’t seem a bad signing to me. Is it any better or worse than £9m on Dobbin ?
