Willo of Whiteley Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I mean punishment has been largely served on all front now, and after it was dished out the only people that stood by it were the EFL and Middlesbrough fans, board and local journos. Everyone else said how ridiculous and harsh it was and they’ve since put a cork in it. Everyone’s over it now. 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) to what extent of a stadium ban is too long? As in, we will have to get a new manager I reckon anything more than 6 games myself.... Edited 9 hours ago by AlexLaw76 1

If anything is given of that length it would be all football activity I'm sure. Not sure there's ever been a touchline only ban for that length of time. I'm really not that arsed about a touchline ban of 6-10 games, not sure it'll make a huge difference. As long as he's back for the skates. Edited 8 hours ago by EssEffCee

obelisk Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago This saga becomes more ridiculous by the day. A spot of scouting leads this sorry saga? It doesn't even come near to some of the cheating seen in the world cup. Anything more than a suspended ban bu the FA blazers would be completely over the top and should be challenged hard. 5

coalman Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The problem is FIFA dished out a 12 month ban for spying at the Olympics. The FA may decide to align with that. We've already been hit with the upper end of punishments by the EFL and there's nothing an official likes more than beating down someone who can't fight back (ie not one of the big boys) 2

Saint Marky Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago What if Tonda was actually on the spectrum and had some form of autism, where he couldn’t contain his uncontrollable urge to pursue perfection at any cost? Spying wasn’t against the EFL rules at the time but he was still in breach of the rules of proper conduct.

Slap him with a fine, some training courses and a suspended ban if you must but don’t make the players, fans and employees of SFC suffer anymore than they already have. trousers Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Anyone know how long we could legitimately string out the appeal process by? Maybe that's what the club is relying on if he gets a substantial footballing ban? In other words... 6 month ban.... String the appeal out for the whole of the season.... Get promoted.... Then install another manager for the premier league campaign.... #clutchingatstraws

If they think Tonda is that good and the best man to lead us would they seek an interim manager for the duration of any possible ban? A Roy Hodgson type appointment that Bristol City made for instance (no I’m not saying bring Hodgson in before anyone jumps on it)?

sandwichsaint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I would suggest banned for four match days and warned as to future conduct would be proportionate. Anything bigger than that would have a disproportionate affect on the club, the club has already had their punishment and that was huge. 5

VectisSaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I wonder if the FA take "previous" into account when "sentencing". Tonda was handed a touchline ban and fine by the FA for his part in a melee during Barnsley's match against Stoke in 2021. Three match ban and £2750 fine. Not sure this makes him an habitual criminal, but it could influence their decision. 1

You can feel whatever you like, if we stood by him under the incredibly naive assumption that he couldn’t possibly face a ban of some sort, then that’s our own fault. If we decided it was a risk we’re willing to take and have a contingency plan then so be it. Personally I don’t think being disqualified from a game you cheated to try and win is in any way out of proportion and nobody would be saying that if Pompey had been spying on us before a playoff semifinal.
DT Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago If it IS to be a ban, would it be a touchline ban? Ie free to manage the team for all but the 90 mins from the dugout? Would have thought that isn't that bad. Get him an earpiece. And a phone...

Presumably, when looking at his conduct, they will consider his conduct towards the interns, so I see SFC quickly covered that avenue by offering Will Salt full time employment.

Think he was only on an 18 month contract so it would mean losing a years salary for this season. He was unlikely to be on a big salary as a novice starting out. Jones, Lego and Still probably cost us more than sacking Tonda in May might have.
