The Pompey Supporters' Trust deal to buy Portsmouth Football Club remains firmly on track.

It is now three weeks since the Trust was given 'preferred bidder' status by administrator PKF, but although little has emerged about the process since, PST spokesperson Colin Farmery has assured fans things are progressing smoothly.

'It has been a very busy time for us all as there has been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes towards concluding the deal,' he said.

'The delicate nature of the negotiations should not be underestimated, which has required detailed scrutiny from our legal and accountancy teams.

'We will be asking fans to commit their money to the biggest share offer ever of its type and as a result we recognise we need to ensure the deal is as water-tight as possible, not only for investors but also for the long-term future of the club

'We are now in the final stages of negotiating a deal which has never been done before, which obviously takes time as it is a "first".

'We'd like to give our thanks to everyone for their support and patience. It has been a tough few weeks for the football club on the pitch, so we are hoping for some very good news off the pitch shortly.’

Farmery explained some of the work which had been taking place, including the finalising of both the shareholders' agreement and the share prospectus.

'These two documents are vitally important, as they lay out the terms of our offer and the relationships between all the stakeholders in them. We have been working closely with Supporters' Direct on drafting them.

'As negotiations have progressed the contents have inevitably changed, but we feel we are now very close to having a final draft ready for distribution.

'We look forward to being able to put forward our proposals in the very near future and we are all frustrated by the fact we haven't been able to say much publicly lately.

'As a Trust we are very conscious of the fact we need to be as transparent as possible, especially after all that has gone on at our club in recent years,' he added.

The Trust aims to create the biggest community club in Britain, backed by around 2000 fans who have pledged almost £2m, partnering with a number of individual investors.

look at your watches, we are at a very delicate time now....

Currently Appless is a loyal hero because he has achieved an amazing amount.

He has kept the club together and done a better job than anyone else could have done in the crisis he stepped into.

While scummahs mocked his record, he rose above it, he even laid on a free holiday for random players.

They had a points penalty to overcome and while mere mortals would have surrendered to the pressure, the eyebrowless coaching god took it in his stride and ushered his battling troops down a division withous a fuss, or a fight.

Since that relegation he has stood firm and turned Fatpipes into a packed fortress, it's only the inability of refs to cope with pressure that has let them down.

He has already spent next years money and assembled a squad that any Dockyard League club would envy.

So at 6pm tonight he is the mighty blue army's heroic leader, the man who will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them against the world, they write folk songs about him....a statue beckons.

Give it an hour and see if he has miraculously become a filthy judas - a villain who has abandoned them for a smaller club, but more of a sacking than a resignation because he had lost the dressing room - boo, nasty Michael!

They don't need him anyway, offloading him just opens the door for one of the big names to come in and awake the sleepiest giant that the world of fairytales has ever been.

So hold tight my Nutobs friends, the tugs are moving into position, the blue spin machine is about to perform the pluckiest of U-turns - it's Cotterill all over again, they haven't all spotted that he's useless until he leaves.

Cue hilarious Nige to Fratton myths emerging from Portsea pubs - I give that one another hour.

From a Tangerines fans forum:

"Whats the hype about Michael Appleton? Hes' done nothing"

"Clues to who the new manager is....

1.Anagram of his surname is Notapple

2.He has an anoying Lancashire accent

3.He is a Nob Ender

4.His record at A south coast club is dire"

( Note : a 'Nob Ender' means a former Preston player )

"Dire? its worse than that..."

"What has Appleton achieved in management?"

Think Adam Blackmore tweeted earlier that they will appoint from within due to still being in admin.

Surely they will simply loan in a manager for a month at a time

You busy this month árry .... wanna earn a few bob so you can get the missus and your dog summat special for Xmas - don't worry about tax returns - we don't, but you should know that already!!

To close Appy's account at fat pipes, his sterling record (including cup games) is:

Played 51 won 13 drawn 11 lost 27

an average of 0.98 points per game and a win ratio of 25%. He will be sadly missed by the PTS!

Really makes you wonder why Blackpool (if they have ambitions to get back in the Prem) would even consider him.

Hero to Zero already reading some of the comments. Seems like Rallyboy was right....again.

"He has just been on Sky Sports saying that he doesn't feel the trust's vision is realistic and them taken control would hinder his ability to help PFC recover up the leagues."
