If the other 91 clubs donated #Pompey £1.5m each, we could clear our debts in full. Is that really too much to ask? It's time to help out!

@NeilAllenPN that's a great idea, but you know it would never happen. Even a hundred grand would be too much to ask

.@ivorinthailand If the rich clubs don't pay up, you'd have to say it's their fault - not #Pompey 's - that our creditors haven't been paid

(please Lord let that Pompey fan's reply to the spoof account be genuinely serious, just for the chuckle factor)

Yes, I know one shouldn't joke about this kinda thing but couldn't resist making a connection to the subject matter of this thread (so apologies in advance to anyone offended!)...

THE number of people being diagnosed with dementia has increased in the Portsmouth area.

‘The whole thing is predicated on the court giving the valuation that we can work around.'

Err.. quite. And if BC objects and/or offers more?

‘We think it’s good news from the football club’s perspective because we will own the ground from day one.’

Hmmm..

Trust chairman Ashley Brown said: ‘However, the single most important thing our supporters can do to help achieve this objective is to convert their pledges or buy a share if they have not yet done so, either as individuals or in syndicates.

In others words, we haven't yet got enough money to do what we're talking about above, let alone pay all the legal bills and for a place to train..

How does the work starting on a new motorway junction on the M275 affect their plot of ground? Does it increase access to their site or take trade and prospects away? It strikes me there is no shortage of site on Portsmouth that could be developed if there was a demand.

the new junction doesn't really increase access to Portsea Island as such. It just means those wanting to go to Tipnor can come off the M275 earlier.

This new development will add a whole load of new housing. How much demand there is for it I don't know. When built, maybe there will have been an upturn. An increase in available housing might reduce the overall price in Pompey, thereby reducing the value of the land at nottarfkrap (surprised the PST haven't jumped on that possibility for their court case).

A Pompey spokesman said: “Our best atmosphere is the best in world football, but we don’t want to take anything for granted.

Honestly, could you imagine our club ever saying something so cringeworthy?

I can't imagine any club in the world saying that like a statement of fact.

It's just a lie. They're used to it unfortunately.

And totally deluded. 50 years ago they put people in Moorgreen for similar states. No difference between that and going round telling people you're Napoleon.

is Gemmel mildly amused that some are ignoring the thundering ten metre waves about to send a tsunami right through the fatpipes, and are instead debating whether to house their dwindling fanbase in the 30,000 seater redevelopment, or the more impressive 34,000 seater version?

All for £2.75M.

I sense a picture of a giant child using a harbourside toilet being posted sometime soon....and when that cheeky little toddler appears, let's remind ourselves that I believe they wasted in excess of £1M just on those plans :scared: - the sort of money that the Trust would sell their soul for.

Underwater casinos, a £500M compulsory purchase of harbourfront and dockyard, moving a ship and reclaiming the seabed?

When it comes to accepting fantasy developments that even a box of sectioned frogs might query, one club's mighty fanbase stands head and shoulders above the rest.

And that spoof Twitter account - it did make me chuckle, even though I'm as confused as the Saints fans who have been diving in with both feet!

Oh go on then, one more time...

Best WTFILN post of the past five years, contender #1

Here ya' go...

Sorry Madman and all scummers but after all this its our time to gloat. I more than most wish that Southampton was in the Premiership just so we could beat them twice a year, otherwise our rivalry is completely pointless.

But still, compare this:

To this:

"I only hope that our stadium doesnt end up bankrupting us like yours did but i kind of know it wont with Gaydamak, Herzog and Sellars in charge"

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=467119&page=5Pompey insist that new stadium plans remain on track

POMPEY insist plans for a new stadium are still on track despite fears over a lack of progress. The city council said it expected more action from the club in realising the Horsea Island dream.

But Pompey say they still intend to submit a planning application at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2009.

And they insist the 36,000-seater ground should be up and running by 2011.

It comes after council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson expressed fears that little progress had been made over the sale of the land at Horsea Island following the club's announcement of its proposed new stadium location in June this year.

'We are constantly talking to the club and we will give them as much support as possible,' he said.

'But I think it is fair to say that we were hoping for more progress from the club than we have had.

'This is going to be a very complicated legal deal and it will take quite a lot of time'

Pompey already have planning permission to build flats at Fratton Park to help finance the new ground.

But they still need to buy the land at Horsea Island, which is jointly owned by Portsmouth City Council, the Ministry of Defence and the Crown Estate.

And they need planning permission for the shops and homes planned at the new site – as well as the stadium itself.

Club spokesman Gary Double said: 'Nothing has changed – everything is still on track.'

Just spotted the above whilst cruising Memory Lane. If that is true, does it hold good if they redevelop Moneyfields to a 12000 League Two grade ground instead of the Poopeydrome?

crabby...this was my favourite LOL

The potential is massive and is there, out of all the non-London South east clubs Portsmouth are the club that seems by far the biggest, maybe with Brighton or Southampton second. I think Pompey's size is massively underrated because of their stadium, that's why the new one is needed.

hows that huge potential getting on in securing a rich owner........oh

@pn_neil_allen: Pledge honoured, #Pompey Trust share bought. Thanks News chaps. @pn_jordan_cross @pn_steve_wilson @pn_mark_mcmahon @howard_frost @stevebone1

It took them that long to raise the cash? £166.66 each.

The Skate rag must follow the same pay ethic as their football club!

A question with the proposed tesco option is how are tesco paying. Would they be buying the part where their store would be or paying rent? Though the deal is not with PKF who are the party in the court case can chinny force one of the parties that are privy to the negotiations to testify?

if purchased then would not expect judge to agree to a lower price, if rent then he might but would add a condition that chinny paid from rent till his secured charge is cleared?

Can see them trying to do something clever with the other land being bought by trying to link profits/rent to that part and not the land trying to buy from PKF or something similar. Would the judge take that into account?

A Trust board member went on the record last night saying he had meetings with Tesco about redevelopment plans for the site. That's the reason for the about-turn in their proposals. Tesco explained how the concept of "buy one get one free" works, and the Trust have concluded that if Robinson buys the land next door, then they can get FP for nothing.

This was something raised by BTF and it would seem a perfect solution;

http://www.bevirs.co.uk/commercial/overage.htm

That explains it quite well, but goggle "Overage" and there is plenty on it.

For what it is worth, I don't buy the tesco deal and i am not convinced that robinson has actually bought the other land. Apart from the news, the only info is from teh bbc (who have been poor on details throughout this whole thing) is a line that says he has exchanged contracts. If the land was so important to Tesco, they would have bought it themselves.
