Pompey Takeover Saga

To highlight the Luton case they got deducted 30 points.

20 of those points were because they failed to exit admin without a CVA, which we know doesn't apply to Pompey (even if they did shaft the creditors)

Only 10 of those points were a punishment for 50 separate charges involving irregular payments

Whereas AFAIK Storrie is up before the beak because he attempted to conceal 1 irregular payment involving Amdy Faye's transfer. Unless I've missed something with storrie's case I really doubt him being found guilty will result in a points deduction, unless HMRC take him to the cleaners which on recent form seems highly unlikely

I agree, it's hard to imagine the slimy Cheats getting a points deduction. Even in the worst case scenario for them they'd probably find a way out of it.

But Chinny pulling the plug, asset stripping everything bar the kitchen sink, a complete liquidation of the cesspit of a club, the razing of Krap Nottarf followed by the building of flats on its extremely unhallowed ground, looks very promising indeed. :D

^ Funny article

spent the last two months choosing from several Championship clubs,

..and they choose Pompey!!!

Antonov developed a passion for football last summer

º!º

«It’s hard to start from scratch, while the prices of commercially successful Russian clubs are too high»

So it's easier to be commercially successful with a club that is starting way before "scratch" then is it?

Still, a Russian coming to the club may well evoke some pleasant memories at Pompey

Not sure the blue few have overly pleasant memories of their previous Russian. Even they can see through the gloss of winning the FA Cup.

Most likely outcome for the summer? -

Liquidation investigation discovers no evidence of malpractice though does suggest that irregularities and missing documents have hampered investigation.

Former directors warned of their future conduct, AA criticised in strong terms - no action taken.

Most tax charges thrown out, Storrie found guilty so club warned of future conduct and fined a tenner - they don't pay, pausing briefly to flick the V's in the taxman's face as they leave court.

The few protest vehemently about ward closures at QA due to tax shortfalls, but see no connection.

They also deny Storrie's charges have anything to do with the club.

New owners come in without investment and add yet more borrowing to the crippled business, becoming the 3rd or 4th party to use Fratton Park as security - it now has a value on paper of £80M.

The CVA is further delayed when the Russians discover it exists.

Lawrence ironically demands more player recruitment while taking the pay of four.

They bring in players other championship teams cannot afford, poaching several from under the noses of Prem teams.

The wages v income equation still doesn't stack up.

The campaign to bring in the recently sacked Avram Grant fizzles out when it's discovered he wants paying.

Lampitt and Cotterill talk up the season, no one believes them.

Many continue to feel they have got away with it.

A Russian poses for the press wearing a pompey shirt over a bullet-proof vest.

The small creditors continue to wait.

New washing machines are delivered.

Harry is seen at Fratton.

It starts to finally dawn on the big creditors that they will never get paid.

The club survives the summer and looks to have turned a corner - new owners, new squad, all looks rosy.

But those wages days just keep on coming every month and the income can't keep up, especially when the small print shows Chanrai's ludicrous payback terms and the Russians discover the parachute money is already accounted for.

And where those Russians go, Interpol follows - and how come the ground was half empty but the attendance was 20,000?

Odd.

But bestest of all while all this goes on, the few know that there's a 4-1 drubbing out there with their name on it.

Tis their destiny.

Now what odds could i get that the first match of the season is against them

Unfortunately it won't be, which is a shame because I'll be in the country, but the FL make sure they're aren't any derbys for the first match of the season.

I'd prefer it to be the last match of the season, in which a 4-1 drubbing (with a legally assembled squad) secures our first place, condemns them to relegation, whilst the crying blue few are forced to remain in ground as the Saints parade the champions trophy in front of them.

Ahh Bless! Not really. For a "Premier League" team stuffed with unaffordable "star" players to beat a third division team is not unexpected. In fact hardly antone that I know realistically expected us to win. I think what most of us find annoying is the fact that you fishy few are continually making such a big thing about it. Mind you, I suppose that you have to clutch at straws bearing in mind the virtually total dominance that we have had over you in the last 60 - 70 years.

Exactly. They beat us with illegal players so I am not in any way bothered. The one in our final prem season really hurt but the last loss barely registered.

Plus none of the few seem to remember that our league one players played their illegally signed premiership superstars off the pitch for 70 mins. If it hadn't been for David James...

funny thing Mack is that it really wasn't as painful as you think, especially when we discovered that half your team was illegal! :)

It was just nice to make your entire fanbase come to St Marys and face a wall of noise.

If that frightened them they are in for a real shock next season, there is a proper atmosphere home and away now.

I remember Swindon gave a better showing than the few that season, we were slightly disappointed by the silence of the fish.

Anyway Hypo's right, getting stuffed at Fratton, that was bad, but losing to a team two divisions above you that you outplayed for an hour?

No.

But as a result I do follow your favourite Uncle Avram's career with great interest, he was the dirty old man who went on our pitch to celebrate and discovered it was difficult to run with crusty grey Y-fronts around your ankles - he looked like he was heading for a semi then.

I greatly look forward to his next sacking - should be very soon, should have bought in January but that's always been his problem, never knowing when he should splash out or not.

You can't take his spirit!! But you can have three points anytime you want, the West Ham buffet is always open, help yourself.

But hot on the heels of all the 4-1 talk, I think I'll stick with the reminder -

four broke owners v one billionaire

though it sounds like you might be making that 5-1 quite soon.

Do take care to understand that there are two types of Money Laundering. One type we know about, the other is the get things out of Russia kind.

Was talking to people today (Since the Cayman Islands tightened up, this place has become a centre of attention for CIA FBI SOCA & many others)

Putting 300 mil into an English Football club is easy if it is a business investment from inside Russia. All that the "Oliagarch" then needs to do is to take 30 mil back out. The 270 went to the cleaners and he has everything he needs for a very comfortable and legal life.

We have a "Property Market" here worse than even the US Sub prime, and yet suitcase are arriving almost daily to buy villas and flats....

Ain't even illegal in UK, and if you have friends in Russia you won't get touched. Explains a certain PL team very well and why Poopey may yet get us up towards the magical 2,000 pages

Suitcases of money cause problems. You have to register as a high value trader if taking over €15k in cash and if you turn up to buy a house for a few million in cash, then the estate agent should refuse it. Things have really tightened up here with money laundering, but seemingly not with football clubs.

Yep but the suitcase HERE is King still.

And is still the favoured way to get it out of Mother Russia. All that the Club buying is doing is to let the Higher Echelon types who have their "corporations" buy overseas assets from people that are so greedy they don't look too hard. Cleaners, Money Lenders, much the same these days

i gotta say its looking grim, the takeover has once again proved to be another farce, if anyone really thinks we are gonna have an easier time of it next year with brighton and scum up they are having a laugh. They are two well oiled teams, with and established core of players who have played together for a period of time, they are on a high from being promoted and will be looking to take there new premier league infrastructure into a top 6 challenge. We still havn't got a training ground. We havn't got a youth system, we have a bunch of players who seem to generally turn up only when they want to put themselves into the shop window, a owner who couldn't care less, a top goalscorer who as profligate as he is, is still our main source of goals and is on his way out. Variable players pickin up wages on the sidelines, a manager who is clearly having big trouble with discipline, and major off field instability. We have worked a miracle by doing ok with all this crap going on behind the scenes this season, with 7 players approx left for next year and bugger all happening to rectify that I would be very surprised to see us achieve even close to what we have this season, I know a lot of people will say Im being very negative but thats how I see it. Clubs like saints and brighton have got the infrastructure and stability to have a go, we are complete dissaray again ! and i stress AGAIN! until we can find the off field stability and backing we are in big trouble.

Shock horror, one of the phew who gets it!

SAAB owner Spyker loses chinese funding?!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13371201?utm_source=twitterfeed

MUUUWAHAHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :D

Oh no it gets worse for you lot...

Spyker's purchase of Saab was helped by a 400m euro ($570m; £350m) European Investment Bank (EIB) loan facility

So the EIB using funds from the EU loans them 400m Euro.

And where does the EU get it's money from (especially with all these bails outs) - Yep from the good old taxpayer.

Now that other article said that old Antonov was worth what about 300m And Spyker paid out 74mil to buy Saab and probably spent some to keep it running...

Oh look it's almost the same figure.

So (and I love this bit)

The DSB's scammed the UK Taxman for around 100 mil of YOUR money

And the guys about to use them to wash their money through (could in a weird and strangely circular conspiracy theory with no basis in fact) be about to do it using - Yep Your Tax Money.

Oh bless

I heard last night that the Pompey deal collapsed and this drove Chanrai to a casino, where at one point, he was £1.4M down. He eventually ended the evening £0.5M up.

Backs up what I have thought for a while. These Russians are just another bunch of chancers with little money and Chanrai is a reckless gambler.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Plonking your money on a roulette wheel (generally regarded as a sucker's game) is a much better investment, and infinitely more entertaining, than flushing it down the toilet known as Cheats FC.

A bad day at the office, f'sure. But with Saggy Chops' thumbs up to Mad Milan at the end, it was clearly a case of a traitor's work well done. And remember in that season we beat the Cheats twice (once in the league and once in the cup), and with 3 points out of 6 we did a lot better against your lot than against most of the other PL teams that year.

From the Guardian last week - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/06/fa-faw-cardiff-swansea

The taxman cometh

The football creditors' rule could be overturned as soon as November after a high court hearing on Thursday into the Plymouth Argyle insolvency led to HM Revenue & Customs challenging it again. The controversial rule, which protects footballers and other clubs at the expense of other unsecured creditors, has long been a bugbear for the taxman.

HMRC has lost tens of millions of pounds in football insolvencies since losing its preferential-creditor status in 2003. But, whereas Sir George Anthony Mann announced as the judge in the Portsmouth insolvency case last August that he was not equipped to rule on the football creditors' rule without a separate case to examine it, Sir Guy Newey decided he would.

In the meantime there has been a football-governance inquiry by a parliamentary select committee at which even senior football figures such as Manchester United's chief executive, David Gill, have declared the rule indefensible. The new case is scheduled for 28 November – the privileged protections for millionaire footballers over insolvent clubs' local-community suppliers are not likely to survive.

If it gets overturned, would this be applicable to Pompey's administration or have they got away with it and it only applicable to Plymouth and future cases?
