no indication of the Russians pulling out anywhere, other than one random comment - that's if they were ever really in.

Finally Steve Cotterill is making sense!

- Without our fans behind us we would have really struggled.

They weren't behind you Steve.

You really struggled.

Apparently the Skates have a pre-season friendly against Chelski, at Krap Nottarf on July 16th.

Does anybody seriously believe that the Skates will be able to field a team by then? What is the purpose of this little exercise from the Chelski perspective? Do they reason that when they beat the Skates by a hefty margin, that team confidence will receive a massive boost? Or will Chelski just use it as an outing for their reserves and youth team?

If then Russians had anything about them it would have been completed weeks ago. Look how quickly and quietly we were taken over. It's been (another) total joke from start to finish!

Actually it is a good friendly for both teams and at 20 quid on the day, it is a good fixture for chanarai.

Quite what their squad will look like remains to be seen, but I can't help feeling, this thread is either coming to an end or is simply at the begining.

The next 8 weeks will shape the next 10 years of their existence (Or not).

Are the russians serious? Do they have the money? Will they get a points deduction? What happens if the russians don't follow through? Will Chanarai continue to fund things? What will happen if they don't meet the CVA requiements? Where are they with the forensic dive into what has gone on? What is happening with the independant insolvency commission investigation? Without the season ticket money how can they meet their business plan with the FA? What sanctions will the FA impose if they don't abide by their own business plan? .................and so on and so on.

Lol. looks like southseasteve's source is someone who reads this forum.

Think we pretty much said all of that about 30 pages ago.

but Gemmel is so right, this story is now right back up in the air, so many possible plot twists and turns still.

One thing will not change though, The Russians will only buy if it is a great deal.

Think we have understood for almost 40,000 posts that it is anything but!

Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 08:25 AM They say that as part of any organisation there are those who make things happen, those that watch things happen and those that haven't a clue what is happening. The majority of Skate contributors on these threads fall into the last group because not only do they not know what is hapening if they did they are not articulate enough to tell anyone. Then thankfully there are the intelligent ones like trueblueinkiwiland. Someone with enough sense to get out of Portsmouth and live as far away from the place as is humanly possible but also with enough gumption to be able to see from the other side of the world what the illiterate morons who live in that dreadful part of Hampshire can't see even though it is staring them in the face. You all may be in denial and refuse to face up to the truth but that wont help. Listen to the one Skate with brains even if he lives in New Zealand for he knows the truth and recognises the reality of your situation. You think you are going to beat the Saints? Don't make me laugh. Remember the words of our new song "We are coming for you. We are coming for you. You dirty Skate b............s We are coming for you".

Absolutely brilliant!

AOCwasaSK8butheoknow--- Your club will be bust as the owners want out and no one wants to buy it. LOL On the plus sign you may get more than 9000 average attendance next season as all the pretend football fans will go to the odd game. Least we have 12000 at least at every game with an average of 17343 per game and our city is a 14 the size of your **** hole. Imagine if Pompey were as big in land size we would fill 70000 stadium week in week out.

Somehow he is privvy to information that the club is up for sale and that nobody wants to buy it. Of course, a billionaire bought us when we were a less attractive proposition than we are now, up a division closer to the promised land, whereas who bought them recently? Oh yes, a fake sheik, somebody who apparently doesn't exist, gun runners, loan sharks and now they are attracting the Russian Mafia.

Our average attendance last season was greater than the capacity of their entire stadium. But if Skatesmouth was bigger, then somehow they would manage to fill a 70000 stadium. It's a wonderful thing, isn't it, this care in the commnuity scheme?

The other factor to consider if this takeover drags on and on.

Didn't Chainrai supposedly up his demands significantly about a month after the Russians first became interested, and it implied that the club was haemorraging £3 million a month?

Apologies for quoting myself, but we have an update;

Someone is putting an awful lot of money into this (I assume HMRC)..... they don't just do this for fun.

Oh sweet. So the Insolvency specialists called in another more specialist specialist whose expertise covers....

Nick Oliver, who heads the insolvency team, is a specialist in forensic insolvency investigations and fraud-related insolvency issues

Well, now there's a surprise.....

Interesting that a) the liquidators have identified significant issues (no surprise) and, b) the issues are of such complexity that Baker Tilly need to call in additional forensic experts.

How ya feeling Mr Storrie????

1mil a month is more likely, Think it was about 3 months from the statement of interest to the running away because "the Price had gone up".

That of course was a month ago.

And they don't have any more matches until....

And their season ticket sales are going soooooooooo well

i can't fathom why a man who is so wealthy got caught first time, then must know by now he has not purchased rhino horn but a prehistoric dog turd. To then try and lever another 3m out of some other unsuspecting fools is just plain madness.

For me it's a straight race between c*ck-up and conspiracy. Was Balram's purchase a boo boo or a carefully choreographed exercise? If the new prospective buyers were anything but Russians with dodgy connections I would go for the former but at the moment the list of cast members is pointing towards the latter?

If this was a Russian/Chanrai stitch up I think they would have the flats and shops up by now.

Chanrai may have got caught because he was trying to get one over on the child-maimer - just take control of the ground and the arms dealer couldn't do anything with his land.

He then discovered he couldn't do anything either.

or more likely,

It was greed based on poor due diligence.

His loan was covered by the stadium and the parachute payments and the transfer income - he couldn't lose....

On paper that sounds plausible.

Lend £17M to a business with £20M of players, £15M of ground, development opportunies, a poorly managed £50M turnover, a few small debts hanging around - what could possibly go wrong?

From that prospectus there is no way you couldn't get your money back.

Then it turned out the transfer income was far less than estimated and already spoken for - and the parachute was redirected to the football creditors - and those small debts turned out to be HUGE.

I've never classed him as the owner, he forcibly took over a business that defaulted on his loans - no one wanted it so he took over the club in an effort to get his money back - but there was no value in it to cover his loan repayments and suddenly he was caretaker of a business worth less than it's debts, and trading insolvently (another clear breach of FA rules).

I believe the term for a potential buyer in these circumstances is the greater fool, and he hasn't found one yet.

The insolvency team from Norwich law firm Howes Percival has been called in to help the investigation into Portsmouth FC – which was the first Premier League soccer club to go into administration.

The company is believed to owe creditors over £83 million, with up to £35m owed to HM Revenue & Customs.

Howes Percival has been instructed by insolvency practitioners Geoff Carton-Kelly and David Hudson of Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP, the joint liquidators of the Club.

Nick Oliver, who heads the insolvency team, is a specialist in forensic insolvency investigations and fraud-related insolvency issues. He is also currently assisting the trustee in bankruptcy of Asil Nadir.

Oliver said: “This is a high profile, complex case which has received worldwide media attention, primarily because Portsmouth was the first premiership football club to enter administration.

“The unsecured creditors are believed to amount to in excess of £83 million, with up to £35 million owed to HM Revenue & Customs.

“We will be assisting Geoff Carton-Kelly and David Hudson with their investigations into the financial collapse of the club. The liquidators have identified significant issues that require detailed investigation.”

In December 2009, HMRC presented a winding-up petition against Portsmouth. In February 2010, insolvency practitioners from UHY Hacker Young LLP were appointed as administrators of the company.

The club was docked nine points as a result of the administration and was subsequently relegated to the Championship.

A company voluntary arrangement was ultimately agreed with creditors to enable the administrators to sell the assets and business of the football club to a new company.

In February 2011 the old company, Portsmouth City Football Club Limited, entered liquidation following the completion of the sale and the termination of the administration and company voluntary arrangement.

Astonishingly the Russians appear to have an amazing trait. They are so clever that even when ask for advice from experts in a particular field (with in their case around 10 years working as back office in different football clubs, talking to former England coaching staff and some of the most experienced M&A professionals in the business). They ignored the lot of them.

Why? Because they are successful so of course they know better.

Most independent types like these that get to the top - they know everything and never listen. But then quite often in the loo other things float to the top.

An example of know it-alls who didn't listen? The Sinclair C5 amongst many many others.

No, the Russians had information that this forum is aware of from some very highly respected people at the top of football.....

And the icing on the cake is that he was persuaded by Lumpitt and Stevie-boy to fund an expensively assembled "quality over quantity" squad to make a swift return to the PL.

Talk about about throwing good* money after bad.

The good thing is, the longer this uncertainty goes on the worse it'll be for them next season in terms of a playing squad.

There is still time yet, look what happen last season, the last minute rush but they still got players in and are still in the championship. The only good point for this year is the little money they have for players (unless they can find some money down the back of a sofa) since they only have Lawrence as a saleable playing asset to raise funds. Let's see who the blue few sign first and that will show the intent of the owner/s.

Putting aside ownership and tax evasion,

with pre-season starting in about five weeks, if I were Stevie boy I would be keen on gathering a team together VERY soon.

I would also regard any p!ssing about in the US as a major distraction.

Managers are already organising deals, the best players will be gone, and there is nothing at pompey to make a free player hold out in case they are interested - unless the madness continues.

Sadly experience says that the stupid spending will carry on, I couldn't believe they carried on last year so I wouldn't be surprised if they sign someone on high wages again*.

Other than one or two elderly Prem journeymen I can't see them finding enough quality to create a decent squad.

The problem for the few is that they will get all excited if they sign someone like Robbie Keane or Wayne Bridge but they don't realise that it would just be Ben Haim revisited.

Those sort of deals might get them 5/6 pts a season but would cripple the recovery of the business.

Lawrence's wages could have generated several players from an academy over the next few years.

But they made their choice and it was to pour millions of pounds into player's pockets and out of the game.

Instead of young players development it has been spent on big cars, tattoos, and shiny tat.

*Dave Whelan mentioned the figure of £20K a week as a Prem wagecap for solvent clubs - pompey offered two deals at that level in the championship and with massive debt - that just shows how barmy the pompey finances continue to be.
