Swansea 2-3 Saints - Match Thread

Ralph’s a good lad and takes the cup seriously. Will win comfortably if goes ahead. Players nice and rested. Although I have hear£ it is inhumane to expect a player to play Saturday and Tuesday. When will someone start thinking about player welfare? Scrap all cups and take the league down to 16 teams and let the poor souls have Christmas off.

Gutted we can't go to this.

Reckon we could see something like this team although I'd be tempted to give Small a run out at left back.

McCarthy, Livramento, Stephens, Lyanco, Perraud, Smallbone, Diallo, Ward Prowse, Redmond, Adam Armstrong, Adams.

Seeing as KwP is suspended for Brentford, I will be amazed if he does not start against Swansea

I forgot about the competition specific rules and thought he was out for this game, so yeah he will play.

outside of that, that team should have enough.  I say that with having no idea how Swansea are getting on lol

As Salisu was a red, does that mean his ban is served in this fixture? Think I read accumulative yellows are competition specific but reds are still for all domestics? Can anyone confirm?

I am sure Salisu is banned for Swansea (returns for Brentford), where as KwP is available for Swansea but banned for Brentford - I am sure someone will confirm either way VERY soon

I also wonder if the yellow card count is extended/reset? Romeu was 1 away from a ban himself, wasn't he?

That is correct.

Pretty sure the yellow card ban extends to 10 bookings from 1 January.

Think 5 yellow limit is extended to 10 once a team hits the halfway point in terms of games played, so Romeu is safe now as Spurs was game 19 for us. ☺️

Good chance to mix it up a bit but still put out a decent team with the likes of A Armstrong and Adams having not played much recently. With KWP out of the Brentford match I'd bench Perraud in this one and give Small a game if he's fit.

-------------Forster---------------

----Valery-- Stephens -- Lyanco---

KWP--------  Romeu --------- Small

---------Diallo ------Moi -----------

------A Armstrong -- Adams/Long -----

If Adams still isn't 100% then maybe Long deserves another game. Give Stuart Armstrong the second half.

Broja and Redmond on the bench for emergencies.

Anything other than a comfortable win would be disappointing.

The game should also be played at St Mary's if they can't have fans.

If you have Sky - channel 952 BBC Wales HD from 17:20 -

Light the fire, pour a glass of wine, press the recline button - shout at the TV 📺 🍷 🔥 😇

I have also seen suggestions that BBC Wales can be accessed through BBC iPlayer, but I'm unsure of exactly how. Does anyone know for sure?

Forget what I  wrote moments ago, just went on the IPlayer looked in Channels - and BBC Wales isn’t an option (S4C is weirdly - I think BBC contributes to the content)

I did search BBC Wales in iPlayer - you might find it in there next Saturday- also it might be a Red Button option.

They're lower mid table and lost their last 3 matches.

And they haven't played for a month, bound to be a bit rusty confined to their homes in the socialist Republic of Wales.

I think it will be a mostly changed team for us keeping first XI available for Brentford.

Brentford play Port Vale in the cup and will 100% rest their first team.

That's right after 19 league games. Don't think cup yellows count towards the total.

Djenepo has joined Mali for the AFCON !

Will these count towards getting games postponed, covid cases + injuries + suspensions + AFCON call ups

Can see that at clubs with lots of call ups

Best not to play Small, Simeu or any other B team debutants, we don't need any more players confirmed as PL capable in case of a covid/injury crisis in the next few weeks.

The match is apparently live on BBC Wales. Is there anyway that you can get BBC Wales without having to be in Wales?

Had a look into this and it should be available on iplayer online, if you scroll to the bottom of the page in the left hand corner you can change location to Wales, Scotland etc.

Thanks for that.

Would rather be able to watch it on the main TV than on the PC though that may be what it has to be.

Given that suspensions seem to be counted as well then I don’t see why not…

I don’t agree with any of it (for me only Covid should be considered) but the PL don’t seem too bothered about it !

BBC Wales is channel 952 on sky

I had to add BBC Wales to my Sky channel list using the website below.

https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/international/a-step-by-step-guide-of-how-to-tune-bbc-wales-1.2310134

Just thought it was worth mentioning to avoid people finding this out at the last minute before kick off and missing some of the game!

I know we will have had a good rest ahead of this but no point risking needless injuries ahead of the Brentford and Wolves games. Covid depending, this side should have more than enough to get through. Redmond always seems to set world alight against Championship teams.

                     McCarthy

Valery   Lyanco    Stephens   KWP

Tella     Diallo   Smallbone  Redmond

              Long    Armstrong

Just been sent a message saying game is off, i think its too early aswell

You sure the message hasn't come from one of those dodgy links that gets you to click on it if you want a refund and then you find your bank account empty.  🤔🙄
