Do not feel very confident regarding the coming season as like previous windows have not recrited a decent CF

Why have you dismissed Damion Downs being a decent striker at this level after a brief cameo vs Wrexham? Plus Archer and Stewart are good strikers for this level, as is Armstrong.

The private jet that was waiting at Southampton airport ready to fly to Liverpool for TD seems to have an engine problem as it never seemed to go lol

Having followed the Saints since 1960 I know what a decent CF is

In 1966 for instance we got promoted with Martin Chivers in Ted McDougall and Phil Boyer in helped us back into Div 1 1978 and of course Rickie Lambert in 2011

You may not have been around in those days but I can assure they were far better than the ones you mention

We don't need a 1960s or 1970s style striker. We have multiple strikers with good goalscoring records in the English and German 2nd tiers in the 2020s.

Are you seriously saying you prefer any of our current lot over an on form Martin Chivers?

Get your head out of the spreadsheets you lunatic.

For me alot still needs doing.

Aribo - Sell

Edoize  - Sell

Smallbone - Sell

ABK - Leave somewhere

Diaz - Isn't a footballer

Tyler Dibling - best deal move on

Sugwara -  Sell and upgrade

Archer -  I don't rate

----------------------------------

Keep Armstrong but don't play him as a lone striker!

Keep Fernandes build team around him.

------------------------------------

Incoming:

Gk: who can challenge Bazunu

RB: Someone who actually can defend.

Creative mid: spertsyan

Two Wingers: use loan market if we have to.

Anything else is a bonus

TB?

why not spell out the name or is this the new puzzle game while we wait for the incoming and outgoing players to move.

There is that section Lawrie Mcmenemy's diary of a season where he looks to the future, willing to trade in all his forwards for players with the physical centre forward presence of Adam Armstrong, the clinical poaching from 6 inches of Downs or the inspirational work rate of a BBD. 🙂

TB's flight was quarantined, possibly impacting the flight plans of TD. 🙂

Come on mate, just let him have his opinion, you don't do yourself any favours sometimes.

Legit didn’t realise he’d gone abroad. So many Scots have gone to Italy in recent years.

I suppose that rules that one out then! 😂

I'd have imagined it would be bigger, but then I'm no expert on these things.

What were his stats like on Football Manager 1962?

As AI has been used a fair bit recently, Gemini gave these footballers with initials TB:

Thierry Henry, Thiago Silva and Toni Kroos

changed to soccer players and Terry Butcher’s name appears!

changed to current English soccer players and Tyrick Mitchell comes up.

I would have thought AI would not have trouble knowing initials were two elements to a name.

a very odd transfer story.

Why because he hasn’t played for us? Just player trading and making profits isn’t it. We buy him, loan him to a sister club then sell for more money. That’s the set up working correctly.

Chelsea and city have been doing it for years.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him on loan to Watford this season.

Funnily enough I was thinking about Tony Funnels contribution when we went up in 78. I also wondered what happened to him as he never quite made it.

Tend to agree. He just seems to disappear and you forget he's playing half the time. The frustrating thing is that he has the tools to be a decent player but it rarely seems to happen when he is selected. I keep expecting him to suddenly burst into life and show what he can do but I'm starting to think it's time to move him on.

I don't know what Leeds offered, probably a lowish fee, but I thought that we'd seen enough at that point to know he wasn't PL player and should have let him go in January.

and yet no mention of the greatest CF in the world. Big Ron trumps all of them combined.

Wonderful thank you. His goalscoring record was something in that promotion run. Being there at Orient was some night, old Fred Dineage having to go through a torrid time as he had to walk past the Saints fans to climb onto the gantry lol.

A wall collapsed at full time and luckily no major injuries ( my brother in the crush) as fans rushed to get on the pitch

He does, but the post was specifically about CFs that helped us get promotion. Were we already in Div1 when he signed?

A great and memorable night.

I like the look of that Louis Patris (obligatory YouTube highlights video caveat). He looks aggressive, pacey, decent passing and crossing. In the highlights mostly at RB, which is good as we clearly don't need another CB. 4 years on deal and rated as 3m euro on TransferMarkt.

I'm sure Sugawara also looked good on his highlights video though, so who knows.

If it all ends up as bollocks that would hopefully imply one or both of Dibling and Fernandes would still be here.

That would be good, we can dream, sadly the bollocks I am envisaging is both going and no incomings.

We're signing Tony Blair. Plays just to the left of centre.

I was wedged up against the wall just before it collapsed. Somehow I popped out of the crowd like a bar of soap and ended up standing by a WPC who tried to get me back into the crowd. I remember saying to her “I’m not back in there love” at the moment the wall collapsed. The whistle went and I walked across the pitch with the players wondering how I was going to get out. Oddly enough I guy I worked and played football with (Orient supporter) was on the opposite side of the pitch, saw me and shouted my name, so I climbed over the wall and left with him.

Can’t believe that no one was seriously injured in the crush when the wall went over.

MLG will explain further but these AI models are generally trained on a word level, rather than letter level, hence why they don't do very well on tasks that involve understanding different letters within words.

I believe one of the stumbling blocks is Everton are wanting to save on these costs as they’re waiting for a Saints fan to offer to drive him there themselves

They aren't trained on either exactly. The words that are fed into them are tokenized into statistical units with no semantic value and then reassembled based on probabilities and vector relationships.
