So £15million then. If we're going to get rid of him and Onuachu for a combined £21million then honestly i'd hope we'd take that money and throw it at whichever player was top scorer outside the promoted sides last season (Josh Sargent?) I don't want to see it used to bring in 3 or 4 players to "strengthen the squad".

This. I would guess (we’ve established its guesswork at this point) they are also both on decent wages having joined us in the Prem so we can put that towards signing a forward who suits Still’s game.

If we can shift ABK for any sort of fee too that would be great.

Or maybe, just maybe, in a side that allows wingers to actually be wingers professional football managers recognise that at 23 years old he shows great promise.

I'm just sick and tired of money being wasted because players are written off so easily. People get so wrapped up in this new age obsession with players that can do every aspect of the game to at least an average level, that players who are dangerous for specialist situations/styles of play are dying out.

He’s not being written off easily. He’s played under 5 managers, different tactics, positions, styles and two different leagues over 2 and half seasons and his best defence anyone can put up is ‘he’s 23 and showed promise’. It’s perfectly okay for him to go on and prosper somewhere else but it’s also very reasonable to have watched him over quite a long period now and think it would be quite fun to watch someone else instead.

He isn’t a youngster just thrown into the team, he’s not a victim of being in a rubbish team, he’s not been hard done by with opportunities or ‘never be in a side that actually allows him to be a winger’. He’s a big money signing, signed to help us get out of relegation trouble and even if you give him a pass on the first one, he had ample opportunity to make his presence felt in the Championship and this season and he’s flattered to deceive on a regular basis. Only really putting in performances when the opposition is set up to defend against him high up the pitch and in a man marking situation. Good luck to him but good riddance to someone who is no longer a hard luck situation.

In those 28 games many were for a few minutes off of the bench. He played 1045 minutes in the premier league. Equivalent of just under 12 full games. 4 goals in 12 doesn’t seem so bad…

As with all statistics, make of them what you want.
I personally think he would score a decent amount of goals in the championship, as he has in Turkey.

We already own him, so worth keeping?

Hope you were saying the same about the striker who delivered 3 goals and 2 assists in 621 minutes in the Championship.

I don’t know who you are alluding to, but the premier league is an awful lot tougher to score in than the Championship…

True and those were an error because he should have passed it and not go for goal

If Kamaldeen's move is "one step away" dont get too carried away, if he sense of direction is anything like his sense on a football pitch he'll catch the wrong plane and end up in The Phillipines !

Crikey, Juric really is an idiot if happy to apend that on KS😂😂

Get it done Saints!!

Would like to think we will spend reasonable sums on the striker who should be our main one. It seems like Spors has got a good appreciation of our weaknesses with the CB, Striker and AM being "urgent immediate" signings.

I have a feeling this might actually be the best window we have had for a long time!🤞🤞🤞

Leadership is something we have sadly lacked since Fonte left. Physicality is another characteristic that we fail on and something that is especially needed in the Championship (and the PL).

Along these lines, and a left-field idea predicated on both Bednarek and THB leaving (and Stephens finally being deemed not good enough), would we consider an experienced CB to help guide our otherwise young group at the position (Edwards, Wood, Quarshie, Sanda)?

Ideally someone who is good enough for the Champ but old enough and with the right mentality to not get his nose out of joint if the youngsters he helps develop usurp him. Someone like Dunk/Tarkowski/Lindelof (all club captains in the Prem last season), or QPR captain Steve Cook (who played with Edwards last season).

Possibly we already have the man for the job in Taylor (though he hasn't been rated highly by our past couple of managers and might want a return to Burnley), but Dunk or Cook in particular would add a lot.

The Sainz ‘story’ is bollocks. Just a random misspelled Facebook post from some knob trying to start a rumour for the lolz. Nothing on any credible news source.

Which is a shame, because if we signed Sainz his song would write itself.

Here, Football League World have highlighted five potential Sulemana replacements the Saints should be eyeing up.

Mustapha Bundu

Mustapha Bundu was a leading light in Plymouth Argyle’s team last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in just 27 Championship starts.

His form was outstanding at the end of the campaign, netting against Middlesbrough, Coventry and Preston North End in consecutive games.

In a more competitive team, it’s not unreasonable to suggest that Bundu could record an even more impressive tally.

Appearances (Starts)

Goals (Assists)

2023-24

27 (9)

3 (1)

2024-25

37 (27)

10 (6)

The 28-year-old would also be available on a free transfer, with his deal at Home Park set to expire.

Therefore, this would be a sensible, cost-effective deal that Southampton could take advantage of to replace Sulemana.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Southampton have been keen on Crystal Palace forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi for an extended period of time.

The South Coast outfit originally tried to buy the forward before Sheffield United got him on loan last summer, offering a £5 million-plus package for the youngster, according to Alan Nixon.

As per South London journalist Rich Cawley, Palace are willing to commission a sale for the 22-year-old this summer, at the steep asking price of £15 million.

Rak-Sakyi scored seven goals and provided two assists for the Blades last term but struggled to leave a lasting impact at Bramall Lane.

However, if harnessed correctly by Will Still, he could be an incredibly useful asset for Southampton.

The attacker made a name for himself whilst on loan at Charlton during the 2022/23 League One campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists.

If the Saints could get Rak-Sakyi performing at this level once more, he could be a deadly operator at St. Mary’s for years to come.

Anis Mehmeti

If Southampton are looking for a proven Championship threat that could be acquired for a sensible price, Anis Mehmeti is the man.

He netted 12 times for Bristol City last term as the Robins finished in the play-off places and could go to the next level under Still at St. Mary’s.

At just 24 years of age, there is still room for the forward to develop into a more complete player, which means the Saints could potentially make a profit on him in the future.

Last season really saw Mehmeti take his performances to the next level, and the Saints could provide him with the platform to excel in a side that have their sights set on the Championship title.

William Bøving

Southampton were linked with William Bøving earlier in the transfer window and would do well to continue in their pursuit.

The Dane netted 11 times and provided five assists for Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga last term. He has continued that fine form into the summer, bagging for his country against Ukraine at the U21’s European Championships.

He also started all eight of his side's Champions League matches last season, providing the youngster with vital experience that he could use to full effect at St. Mary’s.

The 22-year-old can operate both upfront or on the left-wing, so would be a fitting replacement for Sulemana.

Still has previously shown that he is a dab hand at crafting young talent and extracting their full potential, so bringing Bøving to Southampton could be somewhat of a masterstroke this summer.

Largie Ramazani

Leeds United are preparing for life back in the Premier League, and it isn’t certain that Largie Ramazani will be part of Daniel Farke’s plans.

TEAMtalk claimed that Rangers are interested in a deal for the 24-year-old this summer, and Southampton could use the opportunity to put their hat in the ring for his services.

Leeds' wealth of attacking options limited Ramazani’s impact on the side last year, but he flourished when given the chance.

Quick, agile and with a quality end product, the Belgian could wreak havoc on Southampton’s left flank if given a continued run in the team.

The young forward netted six times in 29 Championship appearances for the Whites, with just seven of those outings coming as part of the starting 11.

His flexible nature allows him to play on either flank as well as upfront, which would give Still the luxury of deploying the forward in multiple areas over the course of 46 games.

Will Sulemana pass a medical there though?  Hasn’t he got dodgy hammies?  Seem to recall a story where it flagged up on the medical and we went ahead anyway.

As Sheffield United, Leicester, Southampton and Birmingham City emerge as potential destinations for Oliver Antman, the fact he was recently mentioned in the same breath as both Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal and Liverpool talisman Mo Salah speaks volumes.

Specifically, it speaks volumes about Oliver Antman’s sudden emergence as one of the greatest creative forces of modern football.

Albeit, of course, at a level far below where Lamine Yamal and Mo Salah are used to operating.

No player in the Dutch Eredivisie produced more assists during the 2024/25 campaign. Across all competitions, the winger with a superhero surname announced himself as a one-man Marvel while setting up no fewer than 17 goals for his grateful Go Ahead Eagles teammates.

Across Europe’s top ten leagues, only Salah and Bayern Munich’s former Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise provided more assists, as Voetbal International point out. Small in name but big in talent, Antman joins Yamal and Sporting Lisbon’s Francisco Trincao on the podium in joint-second place.

No wonder the Birmingham City fans are dreaming of Oliver Antman dashing down the right-hand side under Chris Davies. No wonder the promotion-seeking trio of Sheffield United, Southampton and Leicester are interested too.

EFL Analysis have been informed, via football correspondent Graeme Bailey, that the flying Finn could become the latest FC Nordsjaelland graduate to grace English football with his searing speed.

Antman represented Danish outfit Nordsjaelland – like Mohammed Kudus, Simon Adingra and Southampton’s own Kamaldeen Sulemana – before joining Go Ahead Eagles in an inspired £1 million deal last summer.

Should the 23-year-old move on after only 12 months in the Netherlands, he could replace Willum Willumsson – the rangy playmaker who swapped Deventer for St Andrews – as Go Ahead Eagles’ most expensive-ever export.

“The season went exactly as well as I dared to hope and dream,” a beaming Antman told Finnish publication Yle recently, capping a fine league campaign with Go Ahead Eagles’ first-ever Dutch Cup triumph when beating AZ Alkmaar on penalties.

“That feeling was something indescribable. A great feeling and a really proud feeling of myself, the club and the team.”

As for his immediate future, while the lure of English football may prove impossible to ignore, clearly this is not a case of there being, ahem, ants in Antman’s pants.

“The big thing is also that I enjoy myself on and off the pitch,” he added. “I like living in Deventer and I like playing for Go Ahead Eagles. It’s really good to be there.

“It wouldn’t be a bad thing if I stayed in Holland. I enjoy playing there. But we’ll see what the summer brings.”

Antman tipped for a ‘top club’ as Birmingham City weigh up another Eredivisie swoop
Back in May, Antman followed up a brace against eventual Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven with another goal and two assists during a 3-2 victory over NEC Nijmegen.

“It’s really special what he does,” head coach Paul Simonis told Voetbal International after watching Antman leave the NEC defence for dead before setting up Dean James’ opener. “It often looks so simple with him, but everything works. He’s really very good.”

“Oliver proves it every week and is already putting up such numbers. He is the assist king of the Eredivisie and that, with all due respect, is at a club like Go Ahead and not at PSV. Then, he also scores easily.

“Oliver at a top club? I can see that.”

The aforementioned Southampton are targeting Chilean Lucas Cepeda, too, as Johannes Spors scours the market for potential Tyler Dibling replacements. Birmingham have also made excellent use of the Dutch market in recent times.

After raiding Go Ahead Eagles for Willumsson, Birmingham have added Sontje Hansen – NEC’s former Ajax starlet – to a wishlist also including Oliver Antman.

If we got £8m for Onuachu and £17m for Sulemana after these last few years, then as much as I hate to say it but Rasmus should get freedom of the city. Absolutely ludicrous business to receive that. (Yes it’s a loos on what we paid but they’ve been terrible acquisitions). 🤣

I don’t think they’ll be many more outgoings for a few more weeks, unless it’s your generic loan sales to Goztepe etc. I can see Juan and Matsuki heading back out there.

For making a loss on players he signed himself? I don't think that deserves any credit.

Signings-wise:

Borja Sainz - I just can’t see Jorwich selling to a league rival, also surely he is destined for better things?

I’m hoping Spors has eyed up Evan Ferguson, ambitious but I also think could be a realistic target.

We are a big fish in the division this season, I think we’ll be a more attractive proposition as the window goes on.

You clearly missed where it says “yes it’s a loss” - but to make that kind of money back after being piss poor is quite something. I think most would agree they’d have taken a tenner for them.

Atalanta are significantly better than us. They came 3rd in Serie A and are in the Champions League. If Sulemana is wanted by them... perhaps he isn't as bad as you think!

Evan Ferguson on a season long loan with option to buy would be quality.

He seems to be linked to a few clubs, Everton and Celtic for example. No idea how genuine those links are, but I bet he will be very reluctant to drop down a division.

I think we’re more attractive a proposition than some think.

Go back a couple of months I’d say we looked pretty horrific, but we’ve got in a new technical director that is making moves, an owner acknowledging mistakes and stating future plans, new manager in ahead of the supposed title challengers etc.

Atalanta have upped their offer for winger Kamaldeen Sulemana - but it is still not enough for Southampton.

The Italian club's latest bid worth up to £14m has been rejected.

The club are off their heads if they think they're getting a better offer than that. That will be our chance of selling him over if we've actually rejected that.

2 names i think we'll see mentioned this summer are Carvalho (now at brentford but struggled to have much impact and i reckon he could be available on a loan), and Rak-sakyi (34games, 7goals, 2 assists for Sheffield united on loan last season). We've been linked with both extensively in previous windows, they're young, talented for the championship, and fit the positions we need. Could see them being done as loans towards the end of the summer possibly.

We did this for years with the likes of Boufal and Hoedt, not selling for cheap etc. What happened in the end? We had to give them away for freebies, or pay them off.

Sometimes the club just need to accept the reality, and the reality is that £14-15m euro deal for Sulemena is as good as it's going to get.

Carvalho is an interesting one, he's been on our radar for a number of years. We were interested when he was at Fulham, then again after he'd gone to Liverpool.

Not sure why he hasn't got into the team at Brentford, depends what their new manager feels about him I guess, these sorts of openings will prob happen later in August. It could be a loan option though, as playing first team football in the Championship is undeniably a better option than chilling on the bench for Brentford.

Could be loans although I think Carvalho will probably be kept on unless there's no chance of playing a squad role.  Can't see him wanting to drop a division.  I reckon the West Ham fella Luis Guilherme is another that could be a realistic loan and possibly a deal similar to the Harwood-Bellis one.

Bit dramatic.

”Worth up to £14m” could mean tuppence now and the rest if we win the Champions League.
