Grinding out results with mediocre players... Who'd have thought that would ever work...? ;)

Only took 36 games for a manager  to fathom it out...

People doubted this team had what it takes but I think that today shows the naysayers were wrong. Not only did Saints get to safety with 2 whole games remaining but did so against Pep Guardiola's Man City. You have to think that after scoring only 1 goal in 2 league games against Southampton this season that Pep's journey at City will be coming to an end.

Derby County! Can you hear me? Derby County! Paul Jewell! Robbie Savage! Billy Davies! Even you, Roy Carroll! You are the kings of calamity once more! Your record has taken a hell of a beating! A hell of a beating! 😉😇

Good, the rest of football can now shut up and forget about this sh*thouse of a season. Now we're just another crap, sub 20 points, team along with the Swindon, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd, Villa, Wolves and Sunderland efforts of years gone by.

Except we'd have got more than 20 points if we'd played like today all season...

Pep livid and overcompensating. 🙂

We get past Derby!

It's never great to see your side line up for a point, and a prayer of a break, at home. But the season's gone, we wanted the point, and needed any kind of performance.

We got the job done. We kept it compact, pushed them out wide in the first half. We were tight on their long shot specialists, and stopped service to Haaland, even from wide.

Les had to go off before a second yellow. They had a bit more room, but Aribo helped the full backs double up, and used his experience to get where it mattered.

We didn't do anything with the moments we had. But the satisfaction is seeing an actual team performance work out, with everyone playing a part.

Wellington had cramp

Not surprised - hardly played despite being our best LB and then puts in what I thought was a man of the match performance - hardly put a foot wrong.

That’s probably the best point we’ve ever got in PL history. I’m not joking, that record was unthinkable.

And City brought on all their players to try to get a win.

And not to forget that absolute helmet goalkeeper of theirs Stephen Bywater.
