S-Clarke Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Shea Charles scored for NI tonight. Good goal too. They're 3-1 up on Luxemburg atm.

LegalEagle Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I see Caleta-Car is playing for Croatia tonight. Was he one that we called wrong when letting him go so soon?

Baird of the land Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Watching the Scottish game and there was a var review where the ref stayed with his on field decision. Maybe one day English refs will realise such a feat is possible. 5

East Kent Saint Posted September 6 Posted September 6 50 minutes ago, StrangelyBrown said: I am, but getting bored already. How Gashford gets in the England team is beyond me... He start to play well at Utd then fell away and out of favour. Not sure he'll last long at Barca , I think he's only there as Barca have run out of money! Similar to Sterling now stuck at Chelsea with £30M left on his contract!!!
beatlesaint Posted September 6 Posted September 6 When they wonder why people don’t engage with international football during the season this game and many of England’s of late can be put forward as Exhibit A. 2
benjii Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Why the fuck do we have a Kraut manager? Fucking embarrassing. Pick the best Englisman for the job. If there isn't an elite candidate, so be it. But don't go to some weirdo German. 3 1
saintant Posted September 6 Posted September 6 If you're picking Dan Burns and Marcus Rashford as starters it's no wonder the team struggle. 3

Chose to watch the women’s rugby instead. At least you see some honest effort from them. But two things, why use Brighton’s Lego stadium rather than St Mary’s? Also, the women commentator is as bad for rugby as football.

whelk Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Tuchel is the worst appointment in my lifetime. Didn’t see the game but Andorra population less than 90 fucking thousand. Sacked in his last two jobs for failing and wants Henderson and Rashford in the team. 3

I think Tuchel gets sacked for falling out with his bosses. It’ll happen with the FA, or he’ll walk away after not winning the WC. Edited September 6 by Badger 2

I'm confident that a Fat Sam or McLaren team would have put on a better performance than every side that Tuchel has put out. 2-0 at home to Andorra is a disgrace.

Most of the football was a disgrace that's for sure. The usual slow pace, side to side passing and lack of movement which is never going to break down a team set up to defend. Clumsy Dan Burns saw far too much of the ball.

saintant Posted Sunday at 21:19 Posted Sunday at 21:19 Only watched the last 25 minutes of the German game. I'm assuming Charles had run himself to a standstill in the previous 65 minutes because he was a passenger for the part of the match I watched. Invisible would be being kind. Must have done something in the first half and into the second half because he stayed on for the whole game.

I had the first half of that on in the background, Charles was pretty good I thought, he did run a lot, got stuck in, good passes, good positioning. Pleasing to see from a Saints perspective.

Pleasing to see from a Saints perspective. Yeah, I guessed he must have been more effective in the first half. Slightly concerning that he dropped off so much in the last 25 minutes - maybe Germany scoring two quick goals knocked the stuffing out of him and the rest of the team. 1
goodymatt Posted Monday at 12:20 Posted Monday at 12:20 Not sure where to post this tbh, but wasn’t he considered when we appointed Juric? Wonder if we would have done any better with this guy?
gio1saints Posted Monday at 12:54 Posted Monday at 12:54 Damian Downs did not get off the bench in usas recent dismal 2-0 defeat to South Korea. He IS likely to start or play a decent part of the match tomorrow v Japan. That will be worth watching. Quarshie only played a half for Germany u21’s v Albania away other day but from highlights he looked like he was central of a back 3 or at the least he seemed to touch the ball a lot and well - more than I’ve seen as a more advanced CB. He looks the part I must say. Liverpool just bought Leon who is 18 and also 6ft4 and I think there’s an evident euro movement in coach thinking towards BIG CB’s - long throws- long balls happening / in which case we may have caught the zeitgeist early for once in capturing this lad! Tuchel saying that’s how England should look to play says a lot! 1
