It's not clear cut from that angle IMO... It does look onside from that freeze frame but our defender is upright and their attacker is leaning in considerably, so it wouldn't surprise me if his shoulder was offside. Inconclusive without being level with play I would say.

Probably needs a freeze from a little earlier too, the ball is already in flight there. Whereas the below is as the pass is hit

A decent win but that shouldn’t paper over the cracks in that team. Complete lack of confidence within the team, no real cohesion between midfield and attack, looked weak defensively on the flanks and poor up front. Decent players look very poor. Think this season is a write off to be honest. Were completely shot.

He doesn't. We've only won two games with him in goal - Wrexham on opening day and tonight. We've drawn three though, so that's where the 9 point stat comes from.

He and Macca have played 7 games each, and while we haven't got as many points with Macca in goal, I've seen him make plenty of saves in those games that Bazunu is incapable of. The points argument is a smokescreen - Macca is and always will be a less shit keeper.

Well that was two teams out of form but one more out of form and more fragile than the other. When we gave them that goal i fully expected them to go on and get the equaliser and probably the winner the way we just fell apart.

Apart from the two goals which were both very good the most pleasing thing was we defended for our lives in that last 15 minutes and you cannot under estimate what holding onto the win could mean going forward for this team.

Very boring 1st half, both teams struggled to get going but 2nd half was "entertaining" (if you are a neutral i imagine)

Winning ugly i will take all day long at this point and if we win ugly again on Saturday i will be even happier!

On the coach back Christ that last 20 was hard but the 3 centre halves won so many headers. The togetherness at the final whistle was so good to see at least a bit of fight in team. Subs made us weaker but we know that a fit Romeu in centre guiding and cajoling we will be better.

Get Leo and Fellows 20 yards up pitch we will be better go 4/4 f king 2 and put

 pressure on them rather than us we will be fine until January when we get big striker to link it

I play golf with an ex pro and he always tells me that you cannot buy or train confidence. 

So with that in mind I am not sure what people expect after four wins in over a year sadly wins are going to be scratchy but hopefully as confidence builds we can improve.

A lot of the issues in the last twenty minutes were caused by Downs just joging around and offering nothing to give the defence a break.

Scienza is class, Still would have had him off at 1-0 so Tonda is an upgrade on that incompetent fool.

We just lost 3 on bounce confidence is very low we need to battle and our quality will shine through.

It was a tough watch but we stuck at it  as usual being in ground wasn’t as informative as on here . Whether you like THB, Wood  and Stephens they stood up tonight .

The first half was awful. No discernible style, laboured passing and just terrible football. So boring.

Two decent goals but after the Baz howler we went to pieces. That last 15 minutes was so bad it was funny. No game management just 11 men in the box hacking it away anywhere. We seemed to have no idea how to control the game - it was pure panic and we lost all shape and composure. 

We won and that’s about it. The thing is if the interim coach beats the owls I believe he will have as many wins as our last 5 managers each achieved and which must put him in pole position to be our next coach ! He’s already reinstalled Baz and Stephens and managed to get Downs back on the pitch.

He also looked like the sort of guy who would do what he was told by whichever  fuckwit(s) is running the club.

The stats tonight were QPR 20 shots at goal with 5 on target; Saints 9 shots at goal and 2 on target. Their goalkeeper didn't make a single save. The xG says QPR should have won. Those stats are usually the other way round. We definitely don't want to see McCarthy back in goal at St Mary's on Saturday,  as with him in goal we've only won 1 regular season game there in 4 years!

As for their goal tonight, McCarthy would have stayed glued to his line and it would have been an easy tap in. Bazunu could have flattened their player but we'd have been down to 10 men and conceded a penalty. 

Of course, it would be great if we could get Ramsdale back in January as we all agree he is the best of the 3.

On the train and relieved to win.  Unrealistic to expect champagne football after our awful run, so a scrappy backs to the walls win is fine in my book.  Will hopefully lift the mood.

Thought we looked more composed with Stephens in the back and there was one moment when he and THB absolutely took strips off Azaz for another lame piece of defending.  
 

Don’t think we deserved to win in all honesty but it makes up for Swansea when we certainly did.

What were the good things about tonight? 2 (two!) goals, one very good indeed and a win, and watching the screen in the pub one way whilst in the other direction the Pompey fans moaning about their 0-0 game. 

Lets hope the win gives a bit of confidence. In the meantime I'm off to make some voodoo dolls to stick pins in but not sure how to prioritise. There was more solid defensive heading done today and then some absolute cack, so I think I'll start with the THB and Manning dolls.

The entire SR hierarchy know nothing about football, but at least all but one of them don't really pretend to. Rasmus "Mr Football" Ankersen is the "brains" of that clown troupe who thinks he's a genius because he once recommended a compatriot for Brentford assistant coach (who knows, maybe someone back home passed that name on to him), who later turned out to be a very good manager. His record here with his disastrous choices shows he was lucky once. And he was the one fighting to keep his failures (Jones and Martin) even when the rest of the SR idiots knew they were out of their depth. I'm sure he had a big say in choosing Will Still. Also apparently we were tracking Downs before Spors arrived - if so, guess whose genius choice that was.

The formation is a big problem. With three at the back it leaves us with a player less to press up top.

It also leaves Fellows playing 20 yards too deep and means that Azaz (who I agree has been crap) gets more attention from the extra central midfielder they then have. He is a player that needs space and time to operate. I don’t understand the persistence with it and why we aren’t playing 4-2-3-1

As a side point I thought THB looked much more up for it tonight

It has to be two at the back, and Azaz and Fellows need to play in their best positions. What's the point of buying them otherwise.

Put the players in the best positions, face forward and move the ball forward faster and the rest should slot into place

It’s no coincidence that the two goals came from attacking more centrally.
 

So many times when our CBs have the ball, there’s only one saints player in the middle of the park, surrounded by loads of opposition players.  We force it up the line and have nowhere to go so end up either going backwards or losing it. We need a manager who’ll ditch this shit formation and style of just constantly trying to get up the wing and cross it.

Completely agree. Very poor quality game and certainly nothing to suggest the team have improved as such but nice for things to go our way for once and move us above the Skates and some distance from the bottom 3. 

We're still incredibly frustrating going forward , desperately need a new signing first day of January up front
