I am sure Onuachu would have scored goals in the Championship but what people are forgetting is how knackered he always looked. There's no way he'd have handled the rigours of a 46 game Championship season. Pretty sure he wanted out anyway.

Leo seems to be every week, but we love him here

The last time the heat was turned on the board with protests they got Romeu in, this seemed to calm the fans. I feel they need to get a player of note in to stop the unrest that is sure to come if they dont get their act together!!!

No, sacking Still and winning six of our next seven games calmed the fans. Romeu was signed in response to an injury to Charles and a perceived lack of professionalism in the dressing room.

The only thing that will improve the mood of fans is improved results. They know that, we know that and I don't think we'll sign anyone unless they're deemed contributory to that cause.

I thought we'd got away from people calling him Damion Downes now that he's left, but obviously not 😐

Anyways, any news on a replacement for our talisman?

I'm intrigued to see how we use the loan market that we've cleverly kept up our sleeve for the second half of our unstoppable march towards the lower end of the Championship. After the unearthing of buried treasures Maxwell Cornet and Albert Gronbaek in the last couple of windows, we're due another exciting loan signing surely - can he help tip us towards the holy grail of SR's third relegation in four seasons?

I need to be convinced that this guy and Eduard Spertsyan can play in the same team.

Get ready for the unveiling of Graziano Pelle as the replacement striker, and then 6 weeks of videos of him in training getting up to full fitness. Followed by a horrific, 10 minute appearance as a substitute where he displays bad touch, lack of speed and inability to jump into the air. We willl then get a post match interview with Tonda where he explains that Pelle has only been playing 5 a side and can now only play that format and explains that this is why he has lost his ability to head the ball.

Still better than Downs. Progress, SR style. 🙂

I’d take him even if he was missing a foot and in a wheelchair.

Looks like we are linked with some French Lad for a few million £££

good news, he scores about 1 in 9

winner winner

We should just go and buy Ballard back for far less spend... thats the reality here. Its mental that we let him go at 20years old and played the likes of Downs or this guy from france. SR are an absolute joke.

Always thought Ballard would come good ..natural goalscorer in my opinion

Crazy to let him go considering all the shit in front of him .

I don't think we're going to sigh a striker - I reckon Ross Stewart being 'back' is it. What a load of bollocks. Or we'll try very late in the day to get a loan striker in - some 19 year old from Villa or something.

I wonder if there’s any panic in the SR/Spors office? 15th Jan…tick tock.

why?

Ronnie Edwards sold for a handsome profit

Loan fee coming in for Baz

New keeper in on loan probably cheaper than Baz

Ross Stewart back will be like a new signing

Its been a great success so far

And the French CB returning after a successful loan spell to strengthen the backline.

Hopefully plays better than Ronnie did this season if he's called upon!

Place your bets on which match Stewart will sustain the injury that puts him out for the rest of the season.

My money’s on Stoke away, Jan 31st, just in time for the window closing.

The straw I'm clutching is that SR are not investing this window because they're selling up, and taking that twonk sham psuedo Rasmus with them.

I think we have to be very careful we don't get relegated this season, seriously.

It's not mental at all. Last season he scored 3 goals in 35 matches in League 1 for Blackpool and Cambridge. I can just imagine the meltdown on here if we were linked now with a striker from the division below with that record!

He may well go on to have a good career but it would have been a huge gamble to be relying on hime to score goals in the Championship. He's also far too similar to Armstrong and Archer in profile. We need/needed more of a target man type striker, a more physical presence.

Why? I wouldn't be expecting much. I think there's a good chance we'll loan in a striker before the end of the window but unlikely we do more than that. Not much business gets done in January.

There won't be any panic, to them nothing is wrong or needs an urgent fix - and this is why we find ourselves where we are.

We all know how it plays out - 'Ross Stewart is like a new signing' articles popping up everywhere during the closure of the window, then promptly gets injured during the start of Feb.

The club don't feel the urgency we do as they genuinely don't see any problems.

'The club are relaxed and calm about the situation' will be in an article somewhere between now and Feb.

You genuinely think the owner and senior management are happy to be in the second tier, the current league position and the possibility of just one more year of parachute payments? We find ourselves in the position we are because of poor decisions, not inactivity.

I think they're complacent, I don't think they're happy about the mess they've created - but I think they are complacent enough to think 'everything is ok really, we've got Ross back now, it will come good eventually'.

Its an easy complaint to make regarding Ballard but (regardless) letting him go is perhaps what has been best for his development, ie. lots of game time, good results which will build hid confidence.

It was clear he was a talent (from the little I saw of him). Is he what we need now, quite possibly, simply from tbe perspective of someone "in form" and confident no doubt.

Would he be ready for the PL (if somehow we manage to make and win the play-offs this season, maybe not, so is that best for him to then maybe be back on a bench.

If we (as is more likely) stay in the Championship for another season, then he is probably a very decent option.

So is it best to get him in now or try in tbe summer when we know more.

Id also hope we will appoint a proper manager in tbe summer so perhaps hed not want to come till then as well.

Whether its Ballard or not, we certainly need someone to spark up front this window, a fresh talent actually capable of scoring in this league.

18 months ago I was willing to give Dragon (not really SR) a chance. That will has (and the other one😂) has disappeared for me and he needs to make some very good calls very quickly. But I fear his time is basically done here and he will, well should sell as soon as he can.

I want to feel proud to support Saints again, not embarrassed by all the bad decisions.

I've never thought of SR as complacent. Useless, yes, but complacent? What brought you to that conclusion?

Playing devil's advocate - they weren't content (or complacent) in the summer to rely on Ross (both in the short and long term) hence they signed Downes. Perhaps they are looking at that position again, but until Downes is actually sold, I suspect they won't be able to buy someone. They will be looking at loans, which won't be easy to secure.

I would have thought loans are their main option - surely they can bring someone in?

What happened to this much vaunted multi-club model? If Romulo was any good, why didn't he come to us from Gotzepe? Who else is in the SR fold or is this just another attempt to copy the likes of Man City that isn't working?

It's not easy to get the right player on loan. Piroe has been mentioned, but a quick Google suggests he is wanted by several teams and both he and Leeds might not want a move to happen.

Fair question. Probably because we got relegated. Why would he join us when Leipzig wanted him.

I am not familiar with the Gotzepe squad. Romulo seemed the obvious one.

If we could get our money back to invest in a decent tall more powerful striker I'd do it. He's scored good goals in the Championship, but suspicious that he is kind of one of the "mates club" which are stinking out the place.

Saw a link to that. Has it happened? Seemed he was doing fairly well on loan albeit at a lower level. Would be interesting to know if we get any fee for him.

Armstrong also works his socks off closing down and chasing lost causes. A shot scuffer, to be sure, and not a game changer but a very useful player to have in our current situation.
