Convict Colony Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I've never got one of these wrong so here is another banger. 2-0 saints
Saint NL Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Random striker alert I expected Stewart, maybe Larin at a push, but Archer? Where's that come from? 2
trousers Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago George "Don't worry, we'll never need to call upon him" Long on the bench instead of McCarthy...
Saint_clark Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 1 minute ago, Saint NL said: Random striker alert I expected Stewart, maybe Larin at a push, but Archer? Where's that come from? Giving him a chance against a less mobile defence whilst also letting him know he still has an opportunity to start if he takes it, Larin still settling in and not wanting to put too much on him too soon, Stewart made of glass so we were never going to start him. 5 1
OnceaSaintalwaysaSaint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Kept the back 4 which is important. Surprised about Archer getting the nod but presumably managing Loch Ness's minutes. 1
SNSUN Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 6 hours ago, saintant said: Why would you take out Bree for Jelert? Bree strikes me as the type of player who takes 3 game weeks in his stride. He needs to keep playing unless he's carrying a knock. Let's not change the back 4 which is performing very well. I wouldn't as I said. But Jelert for Bree is one option that wouldn't be a huge step down in quality if Tonda was going to tinker, compared to dropping the recently excellent Welington for Manning.
SNSUN Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 7 minutes ago, trousers said: They hate their full backs, Foxestalk said Ricardo is past it and Thomas is crap. They don't rate Okoli either. Good chance for some goals. Apparently Winks wants out too. Mukasa is the unknown quantity there but they had no choice with Cordova-Reid out. And Daka tries hard but doesn't have many goals in him. We should, repeat should, be winning this.

This, Archer is the more mobile of the 3. Larin looked knackered after his cameo and Stewart does need to be managed. Pleased Downes is fine, Charles probably in for him on Saturday.
Sheaf Saint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Can only assume that Archer has been given the nod because he has more pace than Stewart or Larin, and the Leicester defence aren't exactly the most mobile. Just hope it pays off, for Tonda's sake. Having found a system that works recently, he's taking a big gamble by scrapping it in this way. 2

Suhari Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago A solid line up, plus Archer. Just doesn't make sense to me. We're SO much better with a bigger guy up top. Surely if fitness is an issue you split the gametime between Ross and McLovin? 1 1
saintant Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Mistake playing Archer and leaving out either Stewart or Larin. Not gonna work. 2
SouSaint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Weird really because just 8 days ago the club were desperate to get rid of Archer. 3
davefizzy14 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Big opportunity for Archer tonight, hope he can contribute. Pleased that Flynn is fit to start. 2-0 to us - Scienza and Larin to score - COYR 😊
SNSUN Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Just now, SouSaint said: Weird really because just 8 days ago the club were desperate to get rid of Archer. Rangers wanted to pay a decent sum of money for him but it didn't go through. He's still a squad member in a squad that only has two other strikers, and one of them is an injury risk. While he's here, it makes sense to keep him match sharp even if he's not the same type of striker as the others. Whether it's the right decision remains to be seen but that Leicester defence is poor.

macca155 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago No issues with Archer being selected, one advantage of Armstrong leaving is it opens up a space for him. I've always thought he was a sharper player than Armstrong, but for some reason he hasn't really clicked. He either responds positively or will quickly drop down the pecking order. No Bragg again, What's going on there. Hopefully see him week Saturday.

Saint Pete Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It's not really a surprise that Stewart is not starting as I'm sure we don't want a repeat of earlier in the season when Still got carried away and started him 3 games in a week, resulting in another long spell out. But would have expected Larin to start after his goal, unless there are also fitness concerns with him. 5

I would keep him sharp by bringing him on as a substitute. We are clearly better with a taller striker upfront which is why we've just bought one. 1
Baird of the land Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I can understand archer move if Stewart can’t be risked and larin is clearly only fit enough for a cameo. Hopefully he can get some joy on the counter. 1
bpsaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Opportunity for Archer to make a claim for the small man up top now that ArmA has gone. Bit more mobile to run at them and hopefully cause some problems. 1
Saint Mikey Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Has Archer been on the pitch much with Azaz? He’s a striker who likes to play on the shoulder, you’d think Finn should be able to find him.

LGTL Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Do Villa hate Leicester too? That can be the only possible explanation. 2
SNSUN Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I agree I prefer the big lads, and I think Stewart and Cyle will play most of the games this season as it suits us. But this is also against one of the worst defences in the Championship. If he's going to start a game, might as well be tonight to give him confidence. It'd be nice to finally get the player that once scored goals in the Championship for Preston and Boro. Not that I'm holding my breath, we massively overpaid for him.
sfc4prem Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Archer vs Daka, the battle of austerity. Two strikers who are afraid of hitting a cow's arse with a banjo.
vectraman Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If neither Stewart or Larin are fit to start, what do we do if Archer is injured after 5 mns…🤔

Because we really should be told what place bovine BDSM has in animal husbandry/football. Would be good though if club were to play Duelling Banjos if Archer scores. Edited 2 hours ago by Verbal
SNSUN Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Brum vs WBA could be carnage tonight. Brum should trounce them but if WBA can get anything off them, that's good for us. Provided we win, of course.
Wade Garrett Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Brilliant that Downes is fit. Surprised at Archer’s inclusion as it changes slightly the way we’ve been playing. He’s not going to hold the ball up, but he will run in behind. Reckon Azaz finds him with some of his lovely passes round the corner and he scores a few. Fucking Leicester, perennial financial cheats. Hope they go down this season, been taking the piss ever since they had all their debts written off years ago when they went into administration, free of any points deduction. Naturally boring cunts generally, typified by that fucking weirdo from Coronation Street.

SNSUN Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We could be one point off the play-offs tonight with a win, two points off if Birmingham win. Ok we'd have played a game more but it would certainly put pressure on and get teams noticing. I think I'm more confident of a win tonight than I have been all season. That, in itself, is worrying. We all know what our club is capable of when things start looking good.
