Holmes_and_Watson Posted yesterday at 18:17 Posted yesterday at 18:17 It needed some risks to be taken, just to get the numbers in attacking positions to make a difference. At least a couple of one v ones against an England defender. Not surprisingly, Rice immediately became a better right back. Tuchel then had to have Stones filled in at the end. Daft selections, as many said at the time. It's a side dragged over the line by the sheer quality of a few individuals. As a side, there's plenty of issues. 3
Stripey McStripe Shirt Posted yesterday at 18:17 Posted yesterday at 18:17 Enchilada gunna be many opportunities to score against Mexico. Need to take our chances. Guacamole. 1

obelisk Posted yesterday at 18:19 Posted yesterday at 18:19 Just a reminder that to win the World Cup England only have to beat Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and France (probably). 4

Stripey McStripe Shirt Posted yesterday at 18:30 Posted yesterday at 18:30 Wayne Rooney's excellent analysis on of the goal. "He's done so much there, it's impossible to explain. He touches it and then bang, he scores". Fantastic insight. 9

Polaroid Saint Posted yesterday at 18:33 Posted yesterday at 18:33 Tuchel should finally see his best team. Never been a huge fan of Gordon, but in the absence of Palmer, that's what we need. On the other side, anyone other than Madueke is fine. I guess Spence continues in his golden ticket position. There are four or five (or a dozen or more) better full backs left at home. But he will do. Honestly? Forget the Mexican record at Azteca; we could and probably should beat them. Phew. And urgh . I really hate/love football. 2
Osvaldorama Posted yesterday at 18:38 Posted yesterday at 18:38 Djed Spence and madueke are nowhere near good enough for this team. Rice at full back made a huge difference, which says it all. 3
benjii Posted yesterday at 18:49 Posted yesterday at 18:49 Still not sure why the manager is a Kraut. Embarrassing. 4

Madueke is garbage also, gets played into so many good position, so many times...crap cross, checks back, or tries to take everyone on to shoot. One decent cross whilst he was on the pitch today. Crap. 4

LGTL Posted yesterday at 19:18 Posted yesterday at 19:18 Mexico in the Azteca in a World Cup knockout is the sort of game we'll blab on about to our grandchildren in years to come. Proper Football match. Insanely jealous of any England fans doing that one. 3
Convict Colony Posted yesterday at 19:31 Posted yesterday at 19:31 been talking a lot of shit to Mexicans already about this game. Think I will have to wake up at 2am for this game which is a joke as last time eng played at the azteca in 86 it wasn't late.

Mexico have to be favourites, at home, been playing well and the altitude advantage is gonna be a massive point in their favour.

Crap. Completely agree. Madueke should be no where near the England set up, you can't be a top end international and only have the use of one foot. You can add Konsa to that list too. Imagine vini jr or mbappe up against Spence and Konsa on the right, they'd have a field day Edited 23 hours ago by Saint Scott

A sports scientist I know quantified the advantage like this: England will start the game and within a few minutes will feel like they've already played an hour of football. There are probably a few things you can do to mitigate: early subs, oxygen during hydration breaks (?). But the advantage Mexican players already acclimatised will have will be huge. 1

He's a back up to Saka for the club side, he should not be a back up for him for England over the likes of Palmer, Bowen etc. Thankfully we have the likes of Nwaneri, Dowman, Ngumoha, Fellows etc coming through so we don't have to deal with them much longer. I'd rather start Eze out there.
