Well Done Saints!!! 75 mil WHOOOOhOOOOO!!! we are the transfer kings!!! who will be our $100 mil transfer player? We have to be the best a finding these gems that most of us never heard of, no big established names, we try each year trying to guess out new replacements for the one we have sold on for big$$$$. I say NEXT!!, who is NEXT, without those players leaving over the years we would never have seen Toby, Mane, VVD, Cedric, clyne, bertrand etc. so bring in the next surprise! Will they stay, who cares! I will stay! right down to the non league, SAINTS is me, cant say we don't have thick skin. been battling in the survival league for years, for many we celebrated PL survival with glee, today after a little bit of success we want to be pompous, how dare players leave us, how can we loose to lesser teams? get over yourselves, if Manu, Liv and Chel, who have all had dismal seasons recently with all the money and world class players and managers can get it wrong, why are we crucifying our Saints for a slip up, a miss-step? We have financially done a miracle and have a future as a football club. Let's see what 2018 brings, good or bad. I will be there to cheer and groan our journey together, only to leave our path together when i die. So bye VVD, hello Mr. X, we are FOREVER SAINTS, MACH ON!!!

Agree

Good post

I have been regularly cheesed off to lose loads of decent players (and the occasional Manager) over a lifetime of following the Saints

I try to obtain solace by thinking what it would have been like if I supported a club who produced and bought in players that no one else coveted.

Compare us to Pompey, for example.

Who, of any value/talent left them for bigger clubs?

Darren Anderton/Barry Horne?

Like. Exactly, over the years players come and players go, we remain. No matter who it is NO player is bigger than the club.

Don’t rewrite history. That was a high-speed dipping cross that was whipped in and may have ended up inside the box at the far post but it’s trajectory was high enough that I can’t think of any keeper that would have got to it.
LOL. normally I would give a keeper a bit of slack but that!!! Look where he was standing. I doubt there is a keeper in the top 3 leagues who would not have stopped that , apart from ours. Its down to coaching, and we have a goalkeeping coach who is not very tall and so does not know how to dominate an area, therefore unable to coach him how to.

I've been around long enough not to get too worked up about players coming and going and to get £75M for Virgil is a superb piece of business.

Yeah, my feelings to, and you can't _make_ players play well and concentrate or put the effort in, which a lot of the people who say we should have forced him to stay forget. So you can lead a horse to water, or the equivalent in Italian 'se il bue non vuole arare, c'è poco da fischiare', - there's little you can do, although I think VVD was more a donkey in his attitude.

Nah, b*ll*cks, any coach (specialist or not) will tell you to make the area yours and have words when you don't, and nothing to do with their own stature and that's down to some very low levels, I can assure you! Having said that, in the pub I was also shouting at Romeu who should have got in front of the player.

It's not even the transfer window yet, so he's still officially our player...but he's already done a runner on us - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5222845/Virgil-van-Dijk-arrives-Anfield-watch-Liverpool.html

Good player, but truly horrific human being.

Thought it was a bit odd him being at the Liverpool game...why isn't he still with our squad. He hasn't moved yet.

Sam is the mouthpiece for Saints so there is always a lot of positive messages in it. But, looking at what has been said:

- We made much more money by waiting until January.

- Hoedt seems to have been a replacement for Van Dijk (not so sure about this with Yoshida's form, but we'll see what happens with a change of keeper I guess) and not for Fonte.

- We will bring in multiple players.

- One is likely to be Walcott.

- No real mention of who will spend the money - there is no implicit or explicit suggestion that Pellegrino will be that man.

I find it ironic that we only got van d-ick because the scouse tapped up lovren. Now they have tapped up van d-ick. If they didn't have such a **** scouting team' date=' they could have saved themselves 3 years of pretending lovren is any good and about £80 odd million in fees by getting Van D-ick in the first place[/quote']

I've never understood this logic to be honest. The reason they bought Van Dijk is after seeing how well they performed here. They're signed the older and more mature version. We're a feeder club

It's the same as saying Barcelona should have signed Coutinho from Inter Milan and Suarez from Ajax. Not even close to the same players. They don't want to watch the players grow. They want the finished article

According to this...

Nike briefly had an add up on their website offering free shirt numbering for Barca Coutinho shirts.

#FreeCoutinho

Liverpool fans in uproar over this.

Funny that, could've sworn a Saints player was in the stands at Anfield for their game...

BBC carrying the story too...

Its interesting that we chose to announce the story before the window opens (therefore making the photo of double V D with a Loverpool shirt whilst still under contract to us ok) whilst other alleged deals are not announced as yet?

VVD is regretting his move already.

Seems that Herr Klopp arranged for VVD to be put up in one of Liverpool's iconic hotels, the 'Adelphi' and VVD suffered a recurrence of his ankle injury after being trodden on by a group of irate Scottish Line Dancers.

He wasn't that keen on the cold buffet either.

So different to the tranquillity of Winchester!!

Headline news in the Liverpool Echo!!!

Stayed at The Adelphi many times in the 90s......brilliant venue then....even met Robbie Fowler in the nightclub!

It's a shame that we sold V-VD to Scousehampton, but at £75 million we pulled their pants down once more and the price was far too high for us to be able to dismiss it. With luck it will soon become clear as it did with Lovren, that how well he plays will have something to do with who is beside him or in front of him. Also it would be great if either Hoedt proves to be as good as him, or we unearth another gem to replace him. We've done this several times before, so no reason why we shouldn't continue to do it again.

Either that or he's already realised he isn't as good as he thought he was :) Thus trying to play down the hype of how soon he'll be ready.

In the few games that he played for us, I was surprised to see on a couple of occasions that he was feeling his leg/foot after a challenge as if his injury wasn't quite right and properly mended. TBH I still have no idea what the injury was, and am not sure if it was ever publicised, which is strange in itself.

Funny you should say that but it often looks to me like Forster does similar when he kicks the ball......of course it might just be a defence mechanism to hide the fact its usually a ****e kick

Wouldn’t surprise me, he hardly bust a gut in matches so could easily gone through the motions at training as well.

Not the way I read it tbh. More like he needs to be integrated into a **** defence that lacks leadership (just one of many missing things defensively).
