spyinthesky Posted 25 November, 2010 Share Posted 25 November, 2010 A mate of mine has placed a large bet on us meeting Bournemouth in the Play Off Finals at Wembley If so could cause massive problems with transport bearing in mind issues with availability of trains and coaches for the JPT Final. Segregation en route would be another issue Worst of all what if we lost!!!

Micky Posted 25 November, 2010 Share Posted 25 November, 2010 If it happened, can't see it being a problem - we managed to get nigh on 50 thousand up to Wembley for the JPT, we'd all just do the same again. As for their lot - they'd just need two coaches and a mini bus at most probably. No problem...!

Whitey Grandad Posted 25 November, 2010 Share Posted 25 November, 2010 For that to happen, Bournemouth have to have a truly outstanding season with a tiny squad, get past selling their best players and have no injuries, Saints have to have a disastrous season with key men not performing over the whole season, and both have to avoid each other in the semi-finals, both get through their ties, and then meet in the final. The odds of predicting any playoff final at this stage would be huge. But this one? I'd happily offer 250/1. McQuoid has just gone to Millwall on loan with a view to a permanent deal so that won't help them. I can't find a definite venue for the playoffs but it's probably a choice between Old Trafford and Cardiff.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 November, 2010 Share Posted 25 November, 2010 (edited) Bournemouth will probably not be in the play-offs. However it is interesting to look at their away form. They have W1 D5 L3 of the 9 matches played, they seem to be playing percentage football away from home.Whether this will be enough who knows. Dr Who? Posted 26 November, 2010 Share Posted 26 November, 2010 I think brighton will just about hang on to a playoff place as they have had a great start, but Bournemouth will drop away. I will stick with us going up in the top 2. Huddersfield v Sheff Wednesday in the Play off final. unless Wednesdy have 10 points deducted then Huddersfield Brighton in the Final. If all the above come true I would wish I had put some money on it!!

The9 Posted 26 November, 2010 Share Posted 26 November, 2010 They haven't decided yet because the FL has a valid long-term contract for Wembley to host the Final, and I suspect they will try to enforce it, irrespective of UEFA's "clean stadium" rules which require weeks on end of not having any events prior to the CL Final. Quite. I don't see how Wembley felt able to agree to host the champoins league game when the FL contract precedes it. Could be some hefty compensation involved uness the contract allows for a cancellation in such a circumstance

Charlie Wayman Posted 26 November, 2010 Share Posted 26 November, 2010 My bet is that Oldham will win this league, they have been by far the best team to come to SMS this season. OK we won 2-0 but anybody who went will remember what a superb game it was. Thought then they'd match us step-by-step all the way and guess who's still one place below us. Probably we'll be second as otherwise Adders gets it - his P45 - and this is not a good time to become unemployed.
