um pahars Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 With a swimming pool like that and the retractable doors on to a patio, I reckon they should use it as a summer holiday camp and let people pitch a tent up on some of the Youth Team pitches. It would certainly beat Holland's Wood or Roundhill!!! But seriously, looks and sounds impressive, so well done to all involved. Would like to get a tour up there when it's finished (note to Club - any chance of arranging tours around the new Staplewood at some point???). madruss Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 This is awful, it's all about the future of the club and 'young players'. Where is the 'legends lounge' and luxury accommodation for ex-players and managers in these plans?? Truly a disgrace. Cortese OUT

buctootim Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 Nice looking building which will be great for attracting players, especially to the academy. May age poorly though. In a few years the wood cladding will be grey with lots of grey polished concrete surfaces inside and in the winter the windows will reflect the sky and look, um grey. Well, that's the next question.. how long will it take to build our wonderful wooden Taj Mahal? The last non event was very disappointing, so I am hoping this updated version will get underway a bit pronto now as current facilities at Staplewood look more than a bit dated. Any builder types out there care to estimate how long a building schedule this may entail please? Depending on when work commences the players may be using portacabins for end of this season and start of next, if not longer, so build time will become an important factor. From the OS: "Basic work has already started at the Staplewood site, with temporary buildings and accommodation already in place for the first team squad. Now that planning permission has been granted, the next stage is to immediately begin constructing additional temporary accommodation before demolishing the existing buildings in the coming months, with work set to start on the new structure around July. A period of nine to twelve months has been set aside for the construction process." If the temporary accomodation doesn't spring up by June or so, then you can worry.
