You do wonder whether the prospect of playing a season alongside the England U21 captain has helped convince the German U21 international that the 'Southampton Project' might just be one worth sticking with, for a bit at least!

Doubt the thought even entered his head …

Is he a reputable source?

He hasn’t got many followers but I looked back through his timeline and there’s a few saints snippets in there that were true. Not sure when he made them compared to when the news came out, mind. But he’s not a total crank.

Lets be honest, we don't have room for ABK in our squad now. We're heavy at CB anyway, let alone another who'll expect to be a starter.

If he sticks around, I hope he's made to train with the kids. HE absolutely jacked it in at the slightest sign of it being tough last season

Yeah fucking hell, who does he think he is? Why would anyone want their best CB to start.

RM has been really putting the work in on the man management side. He might just be able to get ABK and Sulemana bought in for the run until January.

ABK and THB would be the best CB pairing in the league.

Potentially but only if it's the ABK version we saw when we first signed him.  He looked class then but injuries started to pile up and he fell away from what we hoped for. I think if him and Sulemana stay then RM needs to sit down with them and tell them they can be important to the squad but only if they knuckle down and give 100% for the cause. Do that and they will earn game time and, if they still want to move, this will be their opportunity to showcase why clubs should come in for them.  Start with a clean slate and let's see what they've got because many of us think both have the potential to be really good players. Time for RM to have a little chat with them if they stay because it would be a waste to have two such good prospects on the books and not do everything to get the best out of them. Let's be honest, there doesn't seem to have been a huge number of clubs clamouring to sign them and only they can change that.

Heard that were in for a Brighton squad player now Fati has signed.

No idea of the name or if it’s happening now especially that it seems that some  players are now staying because the value set was not offered.

It’ll probably be a loan then as Fati is a loan (but not sure if an obligation to buy for them).

Would be a decent back 4 at Prem level. Saudi window shutting in a few weeks is going to worry everyone though.

I think Manning needs to do something to fit in with the rest of the defence:

Ryan Fortescue- Manning,

Ryan Farquhar- Manning, or Ryan Rumpelstiltskin- Manning or a Monty Pythonesque, Ryan Biscuit-Barrel- Manning.

Saudi is interesting.

If you're a early 20s player, knocking on the door of your national team, do you really move there?

I wonder how many playing out there will get international call ups.

But of course, money talks......

Are you serious? You piss and moan constantly because we're selling our players and not bringing in enough quality and then piss and moan when our best defender is staying. You couldn't make it up.

Nearly as good as KWP MS ABK RP…And look how that ended up.

ABK is a cock that doesn’t want to play for us and hasn’t put a shift in since he’ arrived. Even if he stays he’ll still be a cock that doesn’t want to play for us and won’t put a shift in. Wanker.

With respect there is no chance the Saudis would be interested in our players. They’re not looking to improve the league so much as they are looking to buy a million brand name signings so they can show them off and feign relevance. They want Ferraris, not Toyotas even if it comes at the expense of any sort of squad cohesion.
