By some distance the best announcement of a British monarch's death on the BBC that I have ever seen.

Magnificent.

No idea what you're talking about.

I actually feel a bit for him. The Sun are cunts who love ruining lives

Well, luckily The Sun won't come out of this very well.

Seems like he has suffered a mental episode from this, and as someone who has suffered previously I don't wish it on anybody.

However, I think the more serious mental episode is the previous near-noncery (and this brings up the more serious discussion of whether paedophilia is a mental illness).

I agree. Jake Kanter, who has worked for Murdoch previously at The Times, was speaking about how insidious News UK is in amplifying this story across its many outlets (too many) and politicians within its grasp on Talk TV saying the BBC isn’t doing enough to deliver Murdoch’s agenda.

Should have shut the doors after Milly Dowler disgrace. NOTW not enough of a price for me as The Sun was always just going to print seven days a week. Will be interesting to see what happens to his empire when he finally drops off his perch.

After Schofield and now Edwards, is this the new trendy thing to follow, instead of getting a tattoo, get a young boyfriend? Seriously though, all very sad, I feel sorry for his family.

Is the young person involved in this 'case' male?

Victoria Derbyshire let slip on newsnight that it was. Male/female, what difference does it make though? The issue for me is the sun reporting 3rd party information as if it were fact, and without checking the facts with the apparent victim. All sorts of lives impacted by that rag of a paper.

The Met have said no offence has been committed and won't be investigating. Nothing to see here really, just a life ruined by the Sun.

Whilst I have no love for the Sun, Edwards has brought this on himself.  It's hardly a good look for a man who is in the public eye and paid a huge amount by license payers to be paying a girl who is young enough to be his granddaughter (and also allegedly a drug addict) for sex pictures.  Even before you factor in that he's married with kids.

He's another person who thought they could get away with it.

Would be an interesting precedent if every married man who was viewing/paying for legal, consenting adult porn behind his wife's back got publicly decried and hounded out of work

BBC and his mates are portraying Edwards as a victim.  A new low.

Is it? If he's done nothing legally wrong, the 'victim' says he ain't a victim, and Edwards has some kind of breakdown, is he not a victim of the sun's actions?

I like to watch lesbian midgets in bondage gear, licking Angel Delight out of each others clevage. Just thought I'd get that out there now, so I'm immune to blackmail from the S*n.

The fact The Sun had an on-the-record denial from 'the victim' and their legal team and totally omitted it from the article is astonishingly stupid/dangerous.

For the police to then take over the BBC investigation and rule that nothing unlawful occurred is.... pretty troubling for them.

Adult pays adult for amateur porn videos not really the story that the rag was trying to paint.

Didn't realise that, and that compounds their conduct imo. Sure, Edwards behaviour seems morally wrong, but it should never have been put into the public domain when there was no victim as such.

Allegations now emerging of inappropriate conduct in the news office'

"A BBC employee has told BBC News they received “suggestive” messages from Edwards that made them feel uncomfortable. BBC News has seen the messages, which refer to the staff member’s appearance and were sent this year."

"BBC Newsnight has also spoken to one current and one former BBC worker who said they’d received inappropriate messages from Edwards, some late at night and signed off with kisses. One said they felt it was an abuse of power by someone very senior in the organisation. Both workers who spoke to Newsnight, and the other employee, spoke of a reluctance among junior staff to complain to managers about the conduct of high-profile colleagues in case it adversely affected their careers."

Oh well, it kept Boris, his phone, his contempt of court, and his daughter, all out of the news for a while, and that was the aim.

I wonder what next important story will replace this when Huwgate dies down - Starmer tortures puppies? Illegals are pushing up our mortgage costs?

Malcolm Tucker in the 2007 "Thick of it" episode "Spinners and Losers";

" The leader of the Nutters is a nutter! Jesus , my niece is funnier than that, she just makes jokes about poo! No, I don't think that they will run with it because it's libellous. It's just as libellous as the Huw Edwards rumor."

It’s my understanding that Steve has seen the bank statements from lighthouse with payments from MLG…

It would certainly explain his sudden absence from the saints web limelight!

You don't think his ongoing payments to this previously 17 yo (now 20yo) male that continues to fund his drug habit, prompting his parents to speak up pleading for him to stop, bear any investigation? As long as it's not illegal, that's okay?

Fucking sleeve bags, he’s done “nothing illegal”, they’re only doing it to deflect the public, fucking hope it’s the end of them. Despicable cockroaches. Hugh Grant needs to fucking sort them twats out pronto. Poor Huw is having his life ruined, and by his own employer. #standwithhuw

Investigation from whom?  The MET police have already stated that nothing illegal has happened so they won't be investigating.

Do you want his employer to investigate?  Is it really any of their concern what he does with his money after they've paid him?  Is it also up to them what happens to the money he gives to other people?  If so, should they be investigating Shell when he fills his car up?

The 'victim' (who has said they aren't a victim at all) is 20.  Their parents have no say in what they do with their lives so they can shout as much as they want about investigations, drug habits, wasted money etc etc, it makes fuck all difference.

The law isn't the only standard by which we judge things. Plenty of people are sacked for doing stuff that isn't against the law.

This isn't a comment on this case, just a general comment.
