Completely the wrong part of the season to be messing about.

We have had an unbelievable run fantastic, not sure if that’s the quality of this league, or the pedigree and experience of the Manager.

I suspect the former, as this league does have some garbage.

Only reason we lost that was the manager not picking the best starting 11.

lost two in three now and conceded 8 in four games

didn’t understand why you wouldn’t start fraser, brookes, aribo and possibly adams ( albeit i can see he was returning from injury)

the starting 11 was very lightweight and the manager got it wrong tonight

Pretty damaging that. Russell really dropped a bollock with that lineup. That Rothwell miss at the start was a pivotal moment. Really poor today and Hull asbolutely deserved winners. So disappointing, it feels like Russell has thrown the match.

If we line up like that against Liverpool then it's going to be a bloodbath.

We have more important games to worry about than Liverpool in the cup.

Martins gotta hold his hand up there. Utterly baffling set up in the first half.

The problem is, he will hold his hand up, but he won't learn from it.

Fuck. There we go! We are officially back to chasing the automatics.

Keep up the spirit, we played well towards the end.

we only looked good when Hull stopped pressing.  We simply could not get past it prior to that. No idea why every team doesn't press us to fuck. We aint good enough to cope with it it seems.

Annoying but there you go. It's the playoffs for us and if you asked me would I prefer to go up via those than finish second (first never on lets face it) I would've said emphatically yes so I'm looking at this as a POSITIVE.

Martin needed to change the shape and personnel earlier. Too passive in the first half, he needed to proactively change it and not wait til h-t.

Exactly. It was obvious after about 15 mins that it was all wrong and was going to cost us dearly. He should have taken his own advice and been brave enough to change it then.

Full credit to Hull though. They deserve the win on the balance of play, but we made it too easy for them in the first half.

Nope. 4-3 to Ipswich straight from the KO in the 97th

Said it before, say it again, very good side, they keep going.  With them and Hull in the playoffs I don't rate our chances.

This second half has shown that if fit then Adams starts over Mara every day of the week

His hold up play and first touch is much better than Maras'.     The starting lineup seemed wrong today - Smallbone and Rothwell was never going to work as a midfield pair.    Why re-instate Manning?     The improvement when Brooks, Fraser, Adams and Airibo came on was instant - it's not as though we had a comfortable cushion of points - should have started with a stronger line up.

Got what we deserved after a first half display like that - nothing. RM tactically outclassed by his counterpart. We should have started with the eleven we finished with. We cannot keep playing suicide tortoise football like we did first half - never want to see that again.

Manning is crap, Smallbone is just not up to it (90% backwards-passing), Rothwell suggesting his brilliant performance against Huddersfield was a flash in the pan. Fraser, Brooks and Aribo showed their class when they came on...and if this was ever the game for Sulemana against a team playing man-on-man, this was it.

So we gave up our home record and second place with a whimper.

That was pathetic, inept tactics.

Well we ent on a great unbeaten run. A run we needed to go on, just to make upthe lost ground and keep pace with 3 other clubs.

Although we're light in the striker and fensive midifelder positions, we know we've got a strong team, with good support from the bench.

Martin decided to pick a team that emphasised the weaknesses in our squad. Agianst a team who were sharper, quicker, with more pace and urgency than anything we could produce.

Smallbone and Rothwell were never going to control the midfield. Manning was a weak link in both supporting the midfield and certainly in defence. Mara was a passenger up front. Edozie reverted to the poor decision making that saw him eased out of the team a while back.

Neither AA or the more forward placed Stu could keep us in it. KWP was left to try some solo runs.

We were poor across the team for the first, which epitomised the lack of tempo, aggression and control we'd ben showing. The second was a sloppy implementation of MartinBall. Bieng kind, you could argue that we'd not offered decent passes all evening. But Rothwell had other options and ran into trouble anyway.

We offered none of the positives from MartinBall. And September and some recent games have shown us what happens when we don't have those positives.

It took until very late in the game for us to have any kind of control or urgency. Notably, Hull dropped back after a few end to end exchanges, and certainly when we got one back.

It's disapointing that the manager has slipped back into some of the issues that gave us September's form. He's not helping himself by not picking a team capable of carrying out his plans. Hopefully, that will be the last of that.

if he had picked a different side, we may have still lost. Even with the subs we still really struggled to get out of our own half, never mind create chances. They had some of their own too. Basically, IMO our style and inability to cope with the press was the reason we lost, not the picking of Rothwell etc. Unless we adjust our game a tad against the press, we will struggle in the play offs.

Russball feels like Bazball. We both love it but hate it at times.

All Russell's fault. He owes us an apology.

No, with the players and depth of squad he's got he owes us a promotion.  Unfortunately i think it's beyond him.

They failed to win for something like 8 games out of 9 and have just picked back up. There's some good sides this year but we are one of them and they will be saying similar about potentially facing us in the playoffs too.
