It's 2-2, 93rd minute and we have an attacking throw in. Literally no urgency whatsoever, we took at least half a minute to take the throw in. Ipswich go up the other end, drive forward, put a few passes together and find a way (assisted by our ball watching defence) That's the difference. I have been at St marys every game this Season and never seen or heard that level of noise or support. 98% looked to show support constantly and we have huge spells where no one does anything. Are away fans did well today against that but they seemed to still be on another level. After such a solid first half, we ran out of steam in the second. Our subs offered little and our work rate dipped. Both sides work to the last whistle normally, but only Ipswich did today. Removing Adams and Aribo left us physically light, and we were outworked and outfought as a result. Fraser’s work rate wasn’t replicated by Brooks. Edozie was involved in a lot, but created no chances of note. With our line up, we moved away form crisp passing moves through the middle looking to create more from direct play today. But when the players that were key to that were removed, we didn’t manage to get any other system going. We have a squad of players who are good in parts of what RM is looking for. We have quality elsewhere, that is a bit restrained by the system. Our first thought all the time is to go backwards, backwards, backwards, Ipswich is the complete opposite. It's not the first time that I've pointed out how good they are, and they proved it again tonight. They just keep going and never give up, they were never going to lose that game. One this season is over its time to bin the possession at all costs football and get somebody in who understands that winning is all important, not pretty football which achieves the square root of nothing. I'm not to disappointed to be honest because I never expected anything from this game, playoffs will be interesting, but playing the way we do is not the way to win those either.
