But Poch will probably be available after the WC in 2026. Even if he's sacked, financially perfect for him. Plus with Mbuemo probably going and one or two others potentially leaving it's probably the right time to get out. Spurs team is actually decent too. 48 minutes ago, Master Bates said: Inevitable IMO.

Midfield_General Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) What a transfer window that was. £22m on Sulemana, £18m on Onuachu and £8m on Orsic, to fit the style of Nathan Jones who we sacked eight weeks later. £48 million pounds. Edited June 8 by Midfield_General 6 1 3
Dark Munster Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) I’d prefer we keep Paul. Like AA, he has a good record against non-PL defenses. We can’t rely on Stewart staying fit, and need another target man. I reckon he would be big for us in the championship. Edited June 8 by Dark Munster 4 1

Nolan Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Can we get better than Onuachu In? If £5 - 8million more than contributions he could make in the Championship. If Still gets our players to play in a similar way to his team at Lens. High press lots of balls in the box, isn't Onuachu the best current striker we have for that role? Add in potential long throws from Quarshie, and is it really worth Onuachu going? 2

If he’s on a wedge clearing that and bringing in a okay fee may either help us get in somebody Still wants or get us closer to being able to retain one of the handful of players we would actually be keen to keep. Personally if the fee isn’t a complete piss take I’m not bothered. I don’t rate him particularly highly and think Stewart looks a better all round player - with a major caveat of ‘when fit’.

Surprisingly, not a quote from the guys who gave us Gronbaek and Cornet. It's from Wrexham ahead of using the loan market.

If we’re just going to hoof it long and lump it into the mixer then maybe, but I’d hope Still has got a bit more about him than that and I very much doubt that’s how we’re looking to play if we’re serious about promotion. Onuachu can’t press for shit. He’s blowing out of his arse after 30 minutes. He’s basically just an expensive misfit, and if someone’s willing to buy him then we should just get whatever we can for him, get him off the wage bill and move on. 7

Lighthouse Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Onuachu plays the front line like he's towing a grand piano. Saints turning down £5m is a bit like when Newcastle turned down £30m for Andy Carroll. I can only imagine Spors sat in his office, laughing and saying, "holy sh*t they're actually calling back!" 5

Willo of Whiteley Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Simpletons on Twitter have got very excited at a private plane landing at Southampton airport from Girona and immediately have become etect at either Oriol Romeu returning, or Miovski signing - despite the fact, a straightforward Google search shows him on international duty. 😂

In certain situations at certain imes he'd be useful, no doubt, but he just doesn't have the fitness or mobility for the general play Still likes. Most of the time he'd not be quick enough to be there for the balls into the box, and Stewart would be better for that role. As to what we might get for our £5m, more than we have in the past.. Did we really pay £8m for Orsic as mentioned above? I constantly see posts on here which remind me of our depressing recent past..

goodymatt Posted June 9 Posted June 9 I’d like to think we won’t consider a sale, his price will only go up with another good season and he will be a key player for us. 5

If we do I hope we fleece Leeds for £25m or so. Seems to be ballpark these days for high performing youngsters in this league. 1
goodymatt Posted June 9 Posted June 9 If he wanted out, we might end up having to sell. Hopefully not the case, feels like we are the right level for him at this moment in time. Charles not really impacting the team after spending £10m on him seemed like an unnecessary risk but this time around he appears to be the player we hoped he would be. Get him straight into the starting 11 and let his asset value continue to grow. 2

Get him straight into the starting 11 and let his asset value continue to grow. Suspect Man City probably have a hefty sell on fee so the price would have to be a good one for it to be worthwhile. I don't think it'll be a particularly good move for Leeds either so hopefully we can keep him. 1
Saint_lambden Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Another season in the Championship for Charles, as a key figure in the middle of the park alongside Downes, would be the best for his development. Hopefully then he can win promotion for us and we can be confident he'll be as ready as he's ever going to be to make the step up to the Premier League. Being based in the north and not far from Manchester may well be a pull though, as well as the assumption that Leeds would probably be able to pay more in wages. Anything less than £30m wouldn't be worth our while, especially on his current trajectory. 1

Also had some issues about consistency in the second half of the season. I guess as cover for Fernandes he might be OK but not sure he looks starting 11 material to me. All based on nothing more than a YouTube video. 1
