Also, I would bet if they want Fernandes, they'll want to pay something like £25m+bonuses, like they paid for Gibbs-White, but the problem is we probably want Lavia money - which I think is correct as he's an established PL player unlike Gibbs-White when they got him. Forest were seemingly interested long before Spurs bid for Gibbs-White, so not sure the move is reliant on that happening, but I agree, they will want to spend £25m plus add ons an we will want £40m plus add ons.

The parties would not consider a new loan. Several clubs are inquiring about Rubén: Rayo, Oviedo, Sassuolo, and Southampton are some of those keeping tabs on him. Ain’t we off to a northern Spain training camp next week and playing Espanyol at some point? Good chance to take a closer look at each other.

Doctoroncall Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago 2 hours ago, Chez said: it certainly needs trimming, but if enough depart, like all the main three or four we really rate and a few others like BBD, Taylor and Armstrong, then we can add to it. This attacking midfielder that could be signed with or without sales seems to be elusive too. I think there maybe some reevaluation going on from some players and the club, having brought in Will Still, he’s probably created a good impression. If Matsuki has played himself into the squad, maybe the new AM is not needed this season??? Ultimately down to the Manager on who he can rely on for a promotion push I would think. 3

Free transfers are more attractive to suitors and ensure the wage remains high this season and then in future seasons. I thought Aribo was class last time in the championship . The way he can hold players off and buy himself time on the ball is a real asset he also sees runs and plays quality through balls .. doesn’t seem to in favour by many but I rate him wouldn’t even be surprised if he’s better then Charles and downes either if last time was anything to go by probably the most well rounded midfielder we have Edited 19 hours ago by pimpin4rizeal 3

verlaine1979 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Bednarek and Stephens both very much in the Che Adams mould of players I just want to never have to watch again. Don't care if the replacements are inferior, don't care if it's irrational, don't care if keeping them would marginally increase our chances of promotion. They are the authors of so much tedium, shame and misery over the past 5+ years that all I want is for them to fuck off and play for anyone else. If we don't lose either this summer, I will be very cross indeed. 18

I'm not getting my hopes up too high. I know Sheff Wed fans thought he was good, but whenever I watched him for them, I still saw a guy that was constantly the wrong side of the ball and didn't dictate the game as the best CMs do. We need to ensure his role suits him and he has the right players alongside him. 1

Yeah who knows .. I thought physicality was one of the things they where looking for he’s certainly strong and likes to thread a pass . . I don’t think aribo was really that bad in the pl tbh considering he was getting played out of position as a centre back or in a two man midfield with neither really being the holding player .. he still had some decent games and put a shift in Edited 15 hours ago by pimpin4rizeal 4

I think number ten is his best position too but he’s got such a versatile skillset he can be used in a load of positions , some of his dribbling is even a bit winger like .. we haven’t really seen much of a him as a traditional ten but that versatility is surely worth keeping him around for

Definitely a player in there. He was good when he first joined and at time during the championship but like so many others lost his way. He ended up playing centre back under Juric ffs. He big, strong, technically good, I see him S an attacking midfielder either central or wide picking up pockets of space. Definitely under rated due to his style but I don’t think we’ve seen anything like the best of him yet 4

Don’t think Still will muddle around with defensive midfield or CB roles for Joe. He and Matsuki look like good attacking midfield prospects with Charles and Downes the defensive midfield picks - perhaps there’s a need for a third central/defensive mid. I’m seeing Smallbone as a squad player at best. 2

I also think Aribo was not used to his strengths last season and has a shot on him - he’s much more aligned to a no.10 than a CB FFS! I’d add to that list Bazunu, McCarthy, Manning and Wood, but I doubt any of those will go any when soon. 10 hours ago, pimpin4rizeal said: Gerard pretty much echoing what I what I was saying here .. macca155 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I don't think the issue with Aribo has anything to do with his game. He was very effective in the Championship last time, and badly managed in the PL in my opinion. Problem is, he's on big wages, has a short contract, and isn't a regular starter. He's also made noises about wanting to leave. Doubt he'll be with us in September. 3
sockeye Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Still states that the squad taken to Girona will be trimmed. I suppose those left out are going to be the ones we want to ship out. Wonder if the club will refuse a sale past a certain point in the window.

gio1saints Posted 46 minutes ago Posted 46 minutes ago Still is basically saying those not selected for Spain are offski. Much of the speculation will be resolved in next 48 hours then I guess. Anyone else caught that part where Still mentions it was interesting to see who went into there own little islands under pressure? Who do you think he meant? It could be the kids but I’ve got my suspicions it might include BBD and SE - but frankly it could include AA and CA and RS - the whole front line seems to go missing under pressure.

hypochondriac Posted 41 minutes ago Posted 41 minutes ago I reckon we are going to see some surprise omissions from Spain. Maybe Aribo, Matsuki, Armstrong, BBD, Manning? Dibling?
hypochondriac Posted 34 minutes ago Posted 34 minutes ago Although not actually clear from what will said. If the likes of Downes or Dibling are injured and not in Spain then speculation is going to be rife.

Yes Downes has injured his groin so if he's not there it'll be pretty obvious why, he certainly isn't going to be leaving. Dibling though apparently had a "tight quad". You'd think that's not enough to keep you out of a training camp so let's wait and see. 1
