No, he is suspended for the FA Cup semi final plus our last two league games. Massive disappointment for us and him.

Fresh for play offs bro 💪

I'd say he's quite good at knowing where the line is. He's on the edge for sure but not sure he's the walking red card you seemed to imply he is

^ Yep, this... ;)

Really that gets a 3 match ban! It’s nothing. The guys head is his shoulder height so he stooped

brilliant timing to be fair

Also if he appeals it does that defer the ban for Saturday?

He’s accepted it presumably on the basis that he’ll be needed for the playoffs and not to hinder that.

Yes I would think either he or the club has looked at the bigger picture on this one.

Didn’t see he accepted it. I’ve seen 100 worse incidents than that not punished this year

I personally thought he was a tiny bit lucky in the Swansea game, there were a few moments where he'd clearly lost his head. He had to be dragged away quite a few times. He'd have been sent off had he stayed on IMO, so on the face of it it feels a bit odd to retrospectively go back to it, but we were quite fortunate to play that game with 11 IMO.

Gutting for Flynn missing the biggest game of his life - FA Cup Semi Final. He might never get there again. Feels mean in that sense.

The timing off this is terrible not only for Flynn and the club but also the supporters going to Wembley on Saturday. We already knew we were without Manning and his replacement has barely kicked a ball recently but we now know Flynn is out and Captain Jack is at best 50/50 that he's fit enough to start!

Tin foil hat time, remove saints engine from the midfield, undoubtedly our most influential midfielder at the moment, link with all the current ridiculous decisions in Ipswich’s favour, Birminghams legit equaliser disallowed , Middlesbrough non penalty penalty amongst some and the fact we have to play Ipswich within the three game ban, think the fa have chosen their second place auto team and who they want in the fa cup final?….

I’d say that was less tin foil hat and more aerospace-grade titanium sombrero, but I do admire your sense of imagination.

Think it looked less bad than it was as he smashed him into THB which broke his fall slightly

Slowed down makes it look worse but can see why he's been done. However I'd Be interested to see how consistently retroactive review are done. Not great that he's going to miss cup and that'll he might be rusty for play offs.

Who else has been retrospectively punished like this in the Championship this season. Serious question.

Leif Davis was.

A bit disappointing but we managed to beat Arsenal without him so why not City? Don’t think it’ll do him any harm to have a few games rest before the playoffs.

Leif Davis and James Mcclean (Wrexham) both clubs the EFL want to help but gave them retrospective 3 match bans for violent conduct. How can this be?

Personally think this is a red card offence

Personally, I really don't. Even when it's slowed down and even if it is deliberate, it still looks more like a check rather than an elbow smash. Put a deliberate elbow in at that speed and he breaks the guy's jaw. He didn't.

I thought that at the time.  They showed it in real time and then one replay on the stream I was watching and thought ‘he’s off here, not for the afters but for the elbow’.  Then TV focussed on the afters not the (what to call it…) ‘tackle’…

Ref must have missed it and thought the afters was worth a yellow…

Flynn Downes as good a player he may be is an absolute tool when it comes to tackling etc

This is hilarious. Team gets criticised for being too soft and nice. Get a player who’s got a bit of devil in him and he’s gets criticised for being tool 😂😂😂

I don't think it was deliberate but I still think it's a red. A 1 game ban would've been more appropriate I think.

Bottom line is this will work well for the play offs as he is our best midfielder by a country mile. Sadly, it's put a massive dent in our semi final chances but hey ho, that's more about the day out.

Agreed. I don't think it was a deliberately violent elbow smash with intent to hurt the player. But it was clearly excessive and somewhat out of control.

The way I look at it is this... If an opposition player did that to one of ours, would I be howling at the ref to send him off?

Yes, I absolutely would.

The only red card offences which carry a one game ban are. DOGSO, handball and 2 yellow card offences . It was none of those. If you think he deserved a red card, the only punishment is a 3 game ban.

I am surprised he’s been charged only on the basis that the referee saw it and gave a free kick at the time. Wasn’t aware that underestimating the severity was grounds to get involved, otherwise you’d think there’d have been tonnes of these intervened on every season.
